Read the Signs!

  • Nearly 300 vehicles have been towed for violations since the city’s winter parking ban took effect 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation.

The ban is enforced regardless of snow on 107 miles of main streets across the city between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. until April 1.

Flyers were posted on vehicles parked on routes affected by the ban over the weekend in an effort to remind motorists to move their cars, the department said.
Flyers posted on vehicles? We guess they can't say they weren't warned. This seems like a higher than normal number of vehicles.

Told in roll call not to ticket or tow these vehicles until further notice. I’m guessing sometime after the election.

That said, what’s the over/under on extra ‘stoopid’ motherfuckers that called ‘911’ to report their vehicle stolen.

And yet another memo comes out 11 hours after the law goes into effect that the HQ Brass, and probably City Hall do not want the law enforced unless they specifically say they do. Maybe too many protected individuals stood to suffer from the total disrespect and or ignorance of the law?

When I lived in the city, always loved reading about the snow tows on the first night it goes into affect. Even more fun to read when the temperature was in the fifties. Always wondered if the people who work at the pound sit behind bulletproof glass when the towees come for their vehicles. Heard the fine was more than $50.

Why doesn't this screwed up city ticket and tow off of snow routes that say no parking after 2 inches of snow. Every neighborhood has big construction Van's and semi's parking all over. Wake up officers, ticket these cars. Hey Sgts. Get out on the streets and do your jobs. City needs revenue for the pensions. If you dont raise money our taxes will go up. I will give you tips. Harlem Ave. Big trucks parked overnight. Belmont, Addison,Irving park from Austin to West of Harlem.

Veeeery Interesting??? Those No Parking Signs are all ..... In English!

Given Chicago's racial makeup, 1/3rd now 'Hispanic', those English Language signs discriminate against Chicago's non-English speaking and reading residents from South of the border who not only speak & read Spanish but also Nahuatl, Yucatec Maya, and Mixtec.

And this doesn't take into account any new residents in the Black Community who recently immigrated from Africa who speak & read in Swahili, Amharic, Yoruba, Oromo, Hausa, Igbo, Shona, and IsiZulu. Plus common languages like Arabic, Portuguese, and French.

As such, those English language signs are at a minimum a Micro-Aggression, and at a maximum, a Racist display of White Supremacy!!! Rahm Emanuel should be ashamed.

Therefore, every Parking Ticket issued to any Minority affected by this blatant language discrimination should have their Ticket Voided.

Last but not least, Tiny Dancer better pray that some aggrieved minority resident doesn't have Lovey & Lovey sue the city in Federal Court for Civil Rights Violations!

[ain't diversity wonderful :-)]

Noticed on the radio how the idiots that were interviewed all have excuses for parking overnight, basically ignorance, every year a new dipshit is born.
This was always a HouseMouse clerks nightmare, especially on those Sat-Sun mornings after the bars closing time, the same idiots demanding to know where their car is. They all know how to find the District station though, where their vile tantrums, complaints and rampages can go uninterrupted and unchallenged.

Tell me, are the CAPS Algorithm Morons still dumbfounded and can’t figure out why there are spikes in Auto Thefts in December?
I remember once that even a W/C reading something the D/C put in the C/O book about it. Talk about efficiency.
The impatient Call Back was doing Vehicle Theft cases because S&S lots couldn’t log more than 2 vehicles an hour into the Hot Desk because vehicles were stacked at a staging location before going to the pound.

It's complete bull shit. In my entire career I never considered writing a ticket for that crap and have nothing but sympathy for the chumps thar come back at 4 am to find their car missing. Most wrongly assume the law only is in effect if there's actually snow, because thats what any rational person would think.

One more reason not to live in or visit the City... All of a sudden as of 12/1 there's umpteen extra parking spaces not on the "snow routes" that are available to move one's car?

I get it - they want the streets able to be cleared if there's a storm and so on, but where are you supposed to put the car?

It just seems like one more dig against vehicle owners in the City along with jacked up city sticker costs, hourly parking costs, increased garage parking costs, driveway permit fees, speed cameras, red light cameras, useless median planters (aka Homeless fresh produce sources), bus lanes, traffic calming features, pedestrian crossing warning signs in the middle of the street, and those damned bike lanes.

Then stir in the brassholes saying "oh, don't enforce the law until we say...", and it's just RIPE for some ambulance chaser to claim it's arbitrary and capricious in enforcement, and 25,000 tickets are dismissed en masse.

Fuck it - don't write any tickets. No need to end up in Court on the stand testifying as to why you chose to write a ticket in Da Communitie instead of Ye Olde Golde Coast, saying "Well, that's what the Order said", and then being branded a Nazi by the lunatic leftists running this shitshow.

When Ross Cascio owned Lincoln Towing, he installed bullet-proof glass, heavy steel doors, had a German Shepherd chained to his desk along with a billy club and blackjack within arms reach. He also installed a steel i-beam inside his front gate designed to total out cars that tried to crash the barrier. Many drivers tried, but lost to the i-beam. He said irate drivers would often go ballistic and he had to protect his employees. Many unhappy towee's would piss and take a crap on the floor of his vestibule.

Take it easy there, hard charger. It’s a city ordinance. It’s not the same as an armed robbery or CSA or burglary. It’s not total disrespect and ignorance. It is simply that in many parts of the city there isn’t enough parking for all drivers.

And for all the cops dumb enough to hate all of the yuppies and transplants from Michigan and Ohio who spend a few years in this city and then wisely run home to the motherland; it’s these transplants and yuppies that pay taxes. They pay your salary. They pay your pension. Not the hood fucking rat in Austin or Englewood or Roseland who has never had a job their entire life and never will - and thus has never paid a dime toward the maintenance of the city they are destroying.

The ban is nothing more than a tow-fee source of income for this joke city.
