There Are No Shortages

Unless you live north in a "quiet" neighborhood:

So that's nine officers total patrolling the entirety of the 017 District. Four High Schools have six officers. Five other inside people....and they still managed to send someone to "implicit bias" training. But hey, no bid openings and no plans for any.

17 has been the laughing stock of the CPD for years. It’s the shortest staffed district in the city. which is unbelievable! How does 20 get more POs than 17? Puzzling. Days is a joke. It’s a fucking skeleton crew. 17 has a new commander but it won’t matter. No manpower for you! No one wants tact unless you have 2 years on. Blue cards and bust outs is what the old(never been the police) tact Lt wanted. Good thing the commander saw the incompetence there and made a quick change. Time will tell, but unless there’s manpower it won’t matter. Good luck 17

The good is that the 011 district has people tripping over each other. Durring my tenure there, we had 3 roll calls full of p.os with 3 working wagons. All for nothing, protecting what assholes, all day just managing one asshole or another who refused to act like a human. Rarely came across decent people but I know there where some out there. And not to mention all the outside units working as well and VRI. What a waste of manppwer.

If the general public only knew just how many beat cars are up and running on any given midnight shift in 016 - it is scandalous. Thus, the reason it is so hard to find out the number. Rahm can’t have the tax payers finding out they are getting absolutely nothing for their tax dollars.

It’s every man for themselves in the “quiet” districts because there are no police for you. All the cops are protecting the south.

This is nothing new in the fighting 017th. The district has been shafted for manpower for at least the past 8-10 years. 016 is in the same boat. Commanders have tried to get more manpower with no results. The north end of 017 is getting killed with burglaries. Stop with all the bullshit foot patrols, park checks, and positive community interactions. Have the cars ready and available for assignment before you get someone killed.

You are looking at it from the wrong perspective, there are only 2 Sgt.'s so the "span of control" under current policy takes precedent.Everyone else had to be given the day off or placed in the office so the limit of 7 units per supervisor is adhered to on the street.

It's an optional spot that needs to be erased. You cannot clear back Logs with foot patrol. Paw Patrol is only okay in the central business district because people constantly have some questions to ask.

When is wearing jeans gonna be looked at just that.....wearing jeans. There’s people that would suck a dick to wear jeans on this job. I worked in Near North where there was a whore car appointed by Walsh. Two chick that wore what they wanted, grabbed whores(shooting fish in a barrel on Weed Street)and then Walshy would let em go home. Three hours was a long tour for these girls. Yes, a three hour tour.
I can assure you that a professor was no where to be found in this Clash of mental midgetry.
It was almost as if you went up a grade in The Brave New World if you were wearing jeans.
The whores were transported to Central D so the whore car operators didn’t even have to do that. A guy who recently had triplets was the guy they made go back & forth all night.
Walshy
Could out drink veteran college kids was calling a lot of the shots. His punishment for not keeping his hands to himself in another State was the bar detail. Ouch! Anyone else would be begging for lube, but not Walshy. Walshy(should have been C/O of Major Accidents)then got out of the penalty box and back to A/3(2nd watch btw)suddenly forgets or misplaces a file that effectively ended his career.
As long as Walshy is off the gig he’s still getting Lt’s pension.
Walshy(do they have Highlife)cuz that’s all he gave a crap about.
Ask him once goofin around how many prime numbers there are?
Response “999” and I shit ya not. That’s a test taking Lt for ya.

The 15% guarantee is a benefit. The more seniority you have, the more likely you can take time whenever you want (at least if you request it 1 week in advance). They used to be able to deny all time off. At least now they have to give you three days notice if you're denied. If you don't like it, request they bargain for more or less during contract negotiations. Just decide what trade-off will be worth it.

Wrong. The fact is that we really don’t know how many police officers any district, or the entire department, should have. The City doesn’t want an actual study because it might show that we’re short; the FOP doesnt want a study because it might show that we’re not short.

The arbitrary creation of beats is in no way empirically based.

At least all the cars should be up and available, meaning two officers on each car, plus a wagon. So, maybe 20 police officers a shift. Give or take.

Well, 20 years ago, there were over 300 Policemen in the 017th District.

"A guy who recently had triplets was the guy they made go back & forth all night."

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a disgruntled blow pop?

Walk into 016 on afternoons and there are 4 officers and two civilians on the desk. They hide the officers as station security. Mean while the district is in a back log and the shit birds are stealing everything they can. Your tax dollars at work. Nobody cares.

New commander will take care of that

That's nothing , there are 4 po's and a sgt who started training 15 people since June 1st. they are now down to only 9 people and are still training them. There is an order that says training is 14 weeks ! The kicker is these trainers hide out at a swimming pool at a dilapidated former CPS high school aka Near North. These remaining 9 people in training just swim and all involved work mon thru fri with weekends off. This is a major farce being pulled off by the sgt in charge who thinks he is the real David Hasslehoff of Baywatch. A promotion to a marine unit officer never took this long and these candidates as they are being called ( like new firemen ) are being strung along for one big shit show led by one of the most incompetant and dangerous sgts to ever wear chevrons !

And the crazy traffic car guy in 017 on days spends most of his time in 020 at his house. I remember when he was in 024 and set his locker on fire and it had ammo in it. What a loon!

I write his name in every election for an elected office. I can't vote for a republican so I vote for the good old 017 Traffic Man. He'll never win, but he couldn't be too much worse than these collectivist totalitarians that run this gulag. And they interview millenials and they think Joe Stalin, the murderer of maybe as many as 62 MILLION of his own countrymen is just a fine old fella to look up to. IDIOTS ALL. Hell, even Walter Williams acknowledges that the Nazi's are in a distant 3rd place for mass murderers, behind Communist China and the former Soviet Union. The communist Pol Pot killed more of his countrymen than Hitler killed Jewish people. I wonder why these little tidbits of info never seem to be widely heard? But oh yes! Leftist ideologies will save us all! Well, maybe those of us not murdered by them

I worked 017 in the '80s. 3rd Watch would have all 2-man beat cars, 2 wagons, a traffic car, in good weather 2-3 3-wheel motorcycles, 4-5 STRAC (rapid response) cars, 2-3 Sgts and a Field Lt just about every day.

I worked in 017 at the turn of the millennium and that's what the manpower was then, also. They let the district deplete itself with retirements, sgts, dicks and PO's bidding out that were rarely replaced.
