This hack can't prosecute one of the most heinous crimes in Illinois history:
- The family of a two-year-old boy who was killed and dismembered in 2015 says they have been told the charges against the man accused of the murder might be reduced.
The family of Kyrian Knox says they were contacted by the state’s attorney’s office ahead of a court proceeding Wednesday to be notified the charges could be reduced.

Kyrian was killed in Rockford, dismembered and found in a Chicago lagoon in 2015. The Rockford boy’s severed head, hands, and feet were found in the Garfield Park lagoon on Labor Day weekend, but the body parts were not identified until two months later, after a DNA match was made.
This was one of the most intense and thorough investigations the Department ever conducted. The city even drained a body of water covering several acres to recover the victim and detectives spent literally thousands of hours making the case against this asshole.

Absent proof that the crime occurred in Rockford, the case gets investigated and prosecuted where the body is found
Was he given an I bond yet?
I would guess something went wrong with the case and the SA thinks they can no longer get a conviction on the original charges, or at least are at serious risk of not getting one.
There are a lot of people in these things and it only takes one person along the way doing something inappropriate or making a mistake to sink a case.
I would not be blaming the SA for it just yet. Could have been someone screwed up the chain of custody for a critical piece of evidence, or a witness who may no longer be credible. Might be a copper that worked on the case about to be outed for perjury on another case, making his testimony in this case potentially suspect. All kinds of possibilities. A witness might have died.
It is not like the SA is looking for any reason at all to tank this particular case.
I think it’s hilarious and pathetic that Kim Foxx has been largely silent on just about everything. Then she watches TV one night and sees a special about R. Kelly and magically she’s out from behind the curtain of silence asking victims to come forward like a low life personal injury attorney on TV. It’s purely embarrassing that this is the head prosecutor of cook county and she’s tried how many cases? Less than 20 felony cases in juvenile (kangaroo) court? Only in this great justice system we have here in Chicago could this happen. I tell victims’ families hey, I can’t promise we’ll get this charged, but I’ll figure out to the best of my ability at least what happened, because we live in cook county. Our states attorney LOVES criminals and our sheriff buys them pizzas if they don’t jerk off on the jail guards. Their response is.............what? I’m just like, hey, this is who you voted for by like a 90 percent margin. If you want real change, get your story out there, call the news, whatever and have them FOIA the case work to see that this is your offender. They try cases on the 14th floor and at the area, not in a courtroom. Most cases never even make it to 26th st due to a mixture of felony review and the values and ethical behavior of the community. This is the system, you voted for it, enjoy the benefits. Most law abiding people leave for greener pastures before the next election. Meanwhile, “dude” is flocking here and procreating more non tax payers. Normally I have something to say, like Kimmy is fucked up, and all. With the work that went into this case, a toddler chopped up and thrown into the lagoon for turtle bait and an arrest with evidence to back up the case; that a SA would reduce the charge is unbelievable to me. The one way to get rid of Kimmy, when the black community starts seeing the harm she is doing by not protecting said community. Usually the black community will not come out and vote for someone who has harmed them and without their support another will be elected. Kimmy really stepped in shit on this one
Hello citizens, Foxx only cares about her record, that is, the ratio of convictions to aquitals for cases she charges. Besides being racist and not wanting to charge black and brown criminals at all, she will under charge in the most heinous casses to ensure a conviction or a plea deal. Foxx has no concern for victims, she is only concerned with re-election.
Pray you do not become a victim of violent crime in CrOOK County, you will be victimized a secon time by Foxx and receive no justice.

I cannot say it better myself, why should any police officer bother to do the job, and risk their lives and possibly their freedom if criminals will be allowed to walk free with just a slap on the wrist? Cook county is getting worse every day with every new case that gets reduced or dismissed from this court system.
Okay, I think I've got it figured out, i.e. the convoluted logic used by the the SA's Office to rationalize a charge reduction.
Abortion is legal, right? Right. And if what's in the garbage can at Planned Parenthood is any indication, dismemberment is part and parcel of abortion. Therefore, dismemberment is legal too, up to a certain age of the fetus. Now, because what used to be a fetus (Kyrian) was dismembered at age 2, the SA's brilliant liberal lawyers concluded Kyrian wasn't that far along in life. If he'd been dismembered at age 12, then that's worse and full charges apply. Obviously they are thinking that the crime is more of a retroactive abortion than a full-blown homocide. Therefore they can't charge the babysitter with homocide. It has to be something less.
It all makes sense now.

Chicago native here, working in CA. It's been a bloody year for CA law enforcement so far. My brother works for the CHP in the Sacramento region and every local department is hurting now. Pray for them, they will need it.

WRONG! DPW was on furlough when this case came in. Commander KD was in charge. Detectives MK and KN spent an entire year working this up and have a rock solid case. If I remember correctly, there was a discussion between the CCSAO and whatever county it occurred in (maybe Winnebago county) about who would actually prosecute the case and the CCSAO adamantly stated that they would. Now it appears that they wont....
What happened to the 'mother' of this child? Didn't she leave the baby with just anyone, without checking in, and moved out of state?

I assisted on this case. The lead Detectives did a fantastic job.
So the states attorney is insulting the family again by dismembering the entire criminal case against the offender.

Double WRONG, Lt One "N" was in on this case from the get go, requested arial footage of lagoon from helicopter, now go back to SVU and "unfound" out those missing...
If they were charging a Police Officer, they would import someone from another county, that knew what the fuck to do!!!

Does anyone here really think the SA does not want a conviction in this case? If they are going to make a deal it is not because they are on the side of the criminal. Something has gone wrong with the case.
