- The city of Chicago is getting ready to take Jussie Smollett to court in an effort to recoup the Chicago Police Department’s overtime costs that piled up during its investigation of the alleged hate crime he reported.
City attorneys are drafting the civil complaint that will be filed “in the near future” in Cook County Circuit Court, Chicago Law Department spokesman Bill McCaffrey wrote in a statement released Thursday evening.
Last week, the city imposed a seven-day deadline for Smollett to repay the $130,106.15 of incurred costs and threatened legal action under city municipal codes if he failed to do so. The deadline came and passed on Thursday.

Of course he’s not going to pay. He knew all along that Kim Foxx and his connections would fix it. He’s probably laughing his ass off. He’s probably gloating about how powerful he his to fuck over Chicago and have his connections fix it. This is a sick story and Kim Foxx is a disgrace! It’s a political fix that no one else would have got after doing something so horrible and very expensive. We need a special prosecutor.
130,000 is letting him off easy. That’s only the Over Time cost! If they gave him the bill just for the letter with the wire substance it would cost the hazmat team well over 150,000 alone. To get that 511 CFD truck out there with the lab inside. All the Forensic work on the case was well over 300,000. The cost for the whole investigation is approximately 1.5 million.

Drawing up the documents for the suit? Come on, you know Smellit's a lying sack, the chances of him paying are next to ZERO, so immediately after you send him the bill, have your lawyer get to work modifying a standard lawsuit to fit this circumstance, and then file it 13.2ms after the deadline for the fool to pay passes.

A competent, honest, and professional State Attorney would have made this part of the plea deal. She would have also have had him plead guilty to at least one misdemeanor.

Smollett will use the suit rally support, claim victim status (again...and again and again). This will take a little while.
He'll announce that some donor has come forward and paid the money / settled the case "So that he can put this all behind him and renew his focus on the causes he's ALWAYS fought for etc etc etc."
He continues to say he's innocent. The money gets paid. Everybody who's sick of the stupid mess is satisfied because it's over and the city got its money back. Smollett looks like a 'decent guy' - at least he paid.
And for a meager $130,000 he goes from from being a radioactive turd to a virtuous good guy. That's an unbelievable bargain.

It's possible that this is even a win for Foxx. She's a dolt. But at least she's secured a spot as a loyal dolt with the Tina Tchen team.

As a prosecutor LL loved to put people in jail, including police. She has also already begun to pander to the community. It’ll be interesting to see the relationship between her and Foxx. A former federal prosecutor who liked putting people in jail vs a puppet states attorney who lets mote people out of jail and has never been first chair on a felony case other than juvenile court. And, they’re both female. This will be interesting to say the least.

My sister has friends in the TV, movie biz and word in Hollyweird is that Ari Emanuel put out word that Jussie is to be considered radioactive until he pays up. In other words, “Pay my bro or you’ll never work in this town again.”

More than $130,000! How about the $1,000,000 it costs taxpayers when a murder was committed somewhere in the city that day. All the resources were directed to the staged crime. Should be $1,130,000 minimum! $130,000 is a slap on the rist. Hollywood will pitch in and it will not cost him a penny!
