Smellit Lawsuit

  • Outgoing Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration says it has gone to court to try to force Jussie Smollett to pay Chicago back for an alleged hate crime hoax even though Cook County prosecutors dropped all charges against the “Empire” actor.

The lawsuit, filed late Thursday in Circuit Court, comes after Smollett failed to pony up $130,106 by a deadline imposed by the city to cover the cost of the police overtime hours expended in the investigation into his allegations.

The upcoming battle in civil court promises in many ways to mirror the criminal charges against Smollett that were abruptly dismissed by prosecutors last month. Both center on the same question: Did Smollett stage a physical assault on himself, claiming his attackers shouted racial and homophobic slurs?

The suit did not specify the damages that the city will seek, but the city said that more than two dozen Chicago police officers and detectives worked a combined 1,836 hours of overtime over at least two weeks while investigating Smollett’s claims.
Now, will LightGroot's people finish it?

Smollett could fix this right quick by releasing a
rap song called "130-106." Could be a real clicking
hit from coast to coast. Could win a Grammy for best
song by an oppressed, persecuted gay black actor.
Jussie, get yo ass into gear, before somebody else
cops the title.
Stones could stage a come back on that song alone.
Keith on Satisfaction fuzz guitar, Mick on rage roid
vocals, Charlie bustin' your ears out.

The Walt Disney Company has been a component of
the 30 stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average
since 1991. Disney now owns the rights to the Empire
series. Smollett may be bigger than Chicago (at this
time) but he is not bigger than Disney. Disney is into
production of princess movies and mega hits like
Frozen. Not only do they sell the original product,
they make a fortune on the related merchandise.
I see no demand for a Jussie Smollett action figure.

Thinking about a wedding cake ruse Jussie? Well, that's been

You'll just have to pay $350K (up front and non-refundable).
That's free market economics. You got a reputation as a guy
who don't pay his traffic tickets so to speak.

Smollett may be under the delusion that he is the latest
incarnation of Philip Michael Thomas (from Miami Vice

those days are way past over and so are you.
Be careful what you wish for. Stagehands could not help

must have cost a small fortune.

It's a slam dunk for the city, but expect the city to come to a low key "equitable resolution" with this lying freak anyway.

Geragos, his attorney, talking tough. Really? Have you looked at the facts, asshole? No? See you in court.

Like I say, slam dunk.

Put the fabricator under oath in a deposition. He'll either continue to lie through his teeth, or he'll plead the 5th. Either one is fine. If he lies, then we finally get the trial we wanted; if he pleads the 5th, it can be used against him since it's a civil action.

Dumbfuck will end up spending millions in legal fees to avoid a trial, which is what he dreads the most.

If only we could count on the city to maintain a hard line here. It won't.

Streeterville resident here. Only wish a fraction of the expended CPD detective-time would be spent on investigating actual violent crimes that occur within Streeterville, where a Streeterville resident is robbed, beaten, and then hospitalized, to be told "nothing can be done" by CPD investigators towards arresting said unknown assailants. All those cameras, and somehow the investigation won't occur. As example, a middle-aged woman was mugged outside the Walgreens at Illinois/McClurg at 5 pm on a summer Saturday, beaten by black teens, robbed, and hospitalized with a broken eye-socket and other injuries. Nope. No investigation. Nope, no arrest. Probably pays $10,000/year taxes on her Streeterville condo too. Tis a pity...

Four days into her role as the new Cook County state’s attorney, Kimberly M. Foxx this week laid out her larger policy priorities for both civil and criminal law and identified her leadership team.

In a sit-down interview with the Daily Law Bulletin, Foxx named five individuals who have or will join the office leadership. She also discussed some of the policy goals she has set for the next four years, as outlined in a 12-page report her transition team released Monday.

Eric H. Sussman, a partner at Paul Hastings LLP, will be Foxx’s first assistant state’s attorney. Sussman is a former federal prosecutor who handled white-collar criminal cases. He is married to Cook County Circuit Judge Carrie E. Hamilton, a fellow former prosecutor.

April M. Perry will join the office Jan. 1 as Foxx’s chief deputy and the office’s chief ethics officer. As an assistant U.S. attorney, Perry argued before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that former Chicago police commander Jon Burge had lied about the torture regime he led in the department.

Jennifer M. Ballard, a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, will also pull double duty as Foxx’s chief of staff and the office’s diversity officer. Ballard, who handled employment law matters for clients including Law Bulletin Publishing Company, placed second in a six-way Democratic primary race for a vacancy in the 7th Judicial Subcircuit in March.

Kathleen A. Hill, a senior policy adviser for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office, will become the office’s director of policy, research and development. Prior to that, she was an assistant state appellate defender and an attorney at Loevy & Loevy — a firm that handles civil rights and police-misconduct litigation.

Foxx said the research and development components of Hill’s job are a new add-on to the traditional policy director role.

"Cook County inspector general to review prosecutors' handling of Jussie Smollett case"

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-kim-foxx-jussie-smollett-20190412-story.html

So Foxx wants an investigation, and she gets to pick the investigator?

Foxx must think Chicagoans are really stupid.

OK, the next time I wind up in court as a defendant, then I get to be able to pick the judge and prosecutor. Only fair, right?

Come on Kim. If you really want to clear your name, how about answering some of these questions:

1. Why did you suddenly drop the case?

2. What was the "emergency" that justified this?

3. Why did you request the court file be sealed?

4. Why don't you request the court file be un-sealed?

5. Why did you recuse yourself, and then not follow thru with a request for an appointment of a special prosecutor?

6. Why didn't any black police leaders stand with you publicly at the JJ/PUSH event last weekend?

7. Why were Rahm and Special Ed not consulted before you dismissed the charges?

8. Why did Rahm call this a "whitewash of justice"?

9. Why did you and police feel the case was so solid, and then all of a sudden you changed your mind? What changed?

If she drops the suit she'll be nationally held in contempt and feel the deep repugnance of her by the public. All the Fed prosecutor BS is out the window. She's in hard ball corruption politics now. Going to the Feds for anything you better bring evidence or a snitch with you. No one is jumping for Little Lori. She ain't in Kansas and clicking her red slippers won't do jack.

She is coming into the world of shit know as Chicago. She got a "lesson learned" when the Aldermen got the Lincoln Yards and 78th approved. Lori got 24 hours to hear Rahm tell her why this is a real good deal for Chicago. Rahm and the Aldermen got what they wanted. Lori got a few minority contractors and some other trinkets. In the meantime all those "other" previous deals made, are now locked in. Great negotiation skills Lori. How does the snake oil taste.

Mayor Murder is leaving in a few weeks. It'll be Little Lori and Special Ed protecting the community. When the community continues to bleed out during the summer by its own hand we all will be waiting for you and Special Ed to tell us why murder and mayhem is now happening on your watch. Maybe you can use Rahm's magical 1000 new police hire's as an excuse. The media bought that hook, line and sinker. They never ask how many leave the Department because they're afraid to get the answer.
