Sync, No Sync

Once again, the Department half-asses it:
  • Off topic, but maybe interesting to someone. It seems that in 001 many of the cameras have not been syncing with event numbers, with some as far back as last November. So word came down that everyone has to go thru all their recordings that do not have event numbers, listen or watch for an event number and then document it manually.

Some POs have hundreds of recordings that didn't sync with event numbers. At first they tried to blame the POs but then realized it was a hardware glitch. So now with the warm weather approaching we are taken off the street for hours at a time to find the event numbers that didn't sync. Ahhh, the city that works!
So pull officers off the street and attempt to have them manually match body cam recordings from incidents already fading from memory as merely routine.

Great system you have there Special Ed.

Maybe you could pay overtime instead so you aren't depriving citizens of police service.

How to be fetal?

This sounds like the City wants you to be fetal. Honor the City.

The videos haven't been refered to in 6 months and nobody knew or cared.

So why bother?

Fix the problem moving forward and dump the videos. Haven't needed them yet. Most likely never will.

Syncing or indexing them would be a waste of time and manpower.

Some departments zre realizing that body cam videos are a big waste of money for little value. The police are mostly trustworthy.

If it’s only in one district, most likely the beat assignments are not being entered into the PCAD correctly. That’s the only way event numbers synch up with the designated BWCs.

Is this problem due to the vendor, which employed a former Supt. as a consultant? Or perhaps another fluke due to Chief Lewin and the funny company?

Down time is good time.

Every minute you spend preforming some stupid task like this for them off the street, saves you a minute of legal/financial exposure.

Fuck them.

You can blame this on the two assholes that are responsible, Terry Hilliard and Jonathan Lewin. After the new Mayor takes over watch the chairs the Chiefs are in change. The new administration does NOT like Lewin.

Police said he did not have any facial hair, was between 28 and 30 years old, standing between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall. If anyone paid attention the department announced about 6 months ago that it was up to the individual officers to keep up with their camera logs.

It’s stupid I know, but there was an admin message.

Why are we keeping the videos when the order says they are supposed to be purged after 30 or 90 days? 🤔 someone should ask the question.

Nothing new, this has been happening since 2015 when it was a pilot program in 012. A 3rd party company is suppose to compile the info and send it to taser for them to sync the event numbers with the videos. They had POs at HQ fixing them back in then, now it falls on the beat cops?!? Wow! Lewin’s fault 100%, he knew this was an issue for years!

So, SO03-14 says
A. Recordings made on BWCs must be retained for a period of 90 days unless any incident captured on the recording has been flagged.

SO, why are we wasting resources tying ev#'s to bwc's farther back than February. Or is the city once again not following their orders and keeping them longer??
