BOHICA!

  • The Illinois General Assembly adjourned its spring session Sunday and delivered first-term Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s “think big” agenda as the Senate voted to raise motorists’ taxes and fees and embark upon a massive statewide gambling expansion that included a Chicago casino and legalized sports betting to pay for new roads, bridges and public buildings.

The new governor took to the floor of the Senate as the chamber concluded its work, with Democratic Senate President John Cullerton saying that lawmakers and the public would have “all summer to thank and pay tribute to him” as he signs into law various portions of his agenda. That included legalizing recreational marijuana, endorsing a sweeping abortion-rights bill and lawmakers putting a measure on the 2020 ballot asking voters to amend the state constitution to allow for a graduated-rate income tax to replace the mandated flat-rate tax. Lawmakers also reached a bipartisan agreement on a $40 billion state spending plan that legislators in both parties said was balanced.
We read the entire article. Then we ran a word search on it. Do you know what doesn't appear anywhere in the article?
  • pension
  • debt service
  • deficit
  • police
So that ballooning pension shortfalls? Going to get bigger.

The $80-to-100 billion in state debt? Seems to have disappeared.

And all the promises that Chicago casino money will go to help any of beleaguered funds? Not a single word.

A Chicago casino will not support police pensions because it first must become profitable. The monies that would go to the police pensions should be based on gross revenues, not profit. UBER took in some 14 billion last year in gross revenue and had a $1 billion LOSS. No profit. Don't you think that is how this will go?

You will see an addition to the ballot for 2020 to change another part of the Illinois constitution. And, that will be regarding pensions. The dems have until March of 2020 to place that on the ballot and I believe that they will do just that. The hardcore democratic festering pot of corruption known as the State of New Jersey just did that and they are going to eliminate pensions for all government employees in the state with the exception of cops,m fire fighters and judges. They included teachers in the pension elimination and put everybody into a 401K and social security. I strongly believe that this is coming to Illinois with a strong push from the media and many citizens who are saying they will not vote for the income tax plan without reform in pensions. If you read Eric Zorn in Sunday's paper, he is shilling for the democrats. His claim is that Illinois is a very conservative spending state and is not a high tax state. He does not mention fraud, corruption and waste.

So my understanding is that previously passed Senate Bill 777 (google IL SB777) specifies that any proceeds from a Chicago casino be directed towards the police pension. There is a separate statute which is near identical but is focused on the fireman’s pension fund, but this is the link to the portion of the law that specified money being directed to the police pension.

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/fulltext.asp?DocName=004000050K5-168

(i) Any proceeds received by the city in relation to the operation of a casino or casinos within the city shall be expended by the city for payment to the Policemen's Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago to satisfy the city contribution obligation in any year.

And all those clueless liberal Democrats that voted JBToiletz that are driving nouveau, trendy, equality bumper stickered electric cars will see their eco-friendly green deal registrations going from $17 to $1000.

Sanctuary IL must be certain we won’t see much pork money from Washington DC with that all the trash they like to continue to spew about President Donald J. Trump, hence the tax generation on the back of the public.
Chicago expects again to get the lion share and that hopefully will draw ire from downstate when CPS is going to demand more again this month.
