The best solution for Chicago is open carry. Every other citizen packing on their hip would make for a much more polite town.
Also would like to bring back dueling; have it in Grant Park every Saturday at sundown. Live stream the duels ar pay-per-view to recoup cleanup costs. President Andrew Jackson was a helluva dueler. Old Hickory was a skinny man, but would wear a large overcoat. Dueling was done with single shot pistols and he would let the other guy shoot first. Jackson would turn to make a smaller target and other guy would get his coat. Could you imagine President Obama in a duel?
We should get one of those crime reduction ribbons, and call it The Tom Skilling Award.

Alderwoman Carrie Austin's ward office at 111th & Normal was raided this morning by the FBI.
She's been in the city council for 25 years since being appointed by Richard M. Daley in 1994 to replace her recently deceased, alderman and husband, Lemuel.

I was out of town, but my understanding is that poverty was in the low 60s and raining the entire weekend.

You guys deserve a vacation where I live in "open carry" land, Falcon, Colorado. We have only had two murders in over 100 years, one murderer was a visitor, the other an illegal. We have a strip mall that contains a Liquor store and a Gun store. Everyone carries. I go to the Big R store every Sunday morning. All the ranch families are there shopping, wearing their Sunday best, and every Dad has the biggest heater he can find, hanging on his hip. Everyone is respectful, weird, huh? We do hear regular gunfire here, it is people practicing on their ranges.
The Cops? Well, they swing by once in a while but they don't have much to do. Nice people, I'm told. Sadly we don't have much contact because we are law abiding, so... we just wave. We had a Colorado Springs Cop get killed last year and his funeral procession went through our town. It was cold as hell and snowing sideways but the roads were lined with people. Not a few, half the town was out there. As it should be.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you guys deserve this after the crap you have had to put up with. You need to see the good, law abiding Americans, I shit you not....they exist. Just not anywhere near Ford City.
