- I really wanted to cut her ignorant statement out but certainly somebody would have complained that I was trampling on free speech and censoring emails. In the end, it sounds like some proactive officers in 001 may have changed her perception of who CPD really is.
I also could have not shared it but it was the officers involved in the incident that sent it to me. I'm assuming they wanted it shared to convey to their colleagues that the little things matter and can sometimes change perceptions in some of the most jaded people.
Seriously? So had to include her base (and false) insult for your "integrity?" Who the Hell would have known? No wonder you got fired in Baltimore. Nothing changed. She saw one incident, and still had to throw in her dig about officers killing unarmed people. Our stat guy came up with this little chart covering the past four years (click for a larger version:

Guglielmi must be a sworn Police Officer, the the City of Chicago / Chicago Police Dept. wouldn’t allow a civilian, with little or no police experience choose who supervises and makes policies governing sworn Police Officers ( AKA merit pick). The Reality is quite different, and it is Amazing to see the academic backgrounds of some of our officers. There are Chicago Police Officers, most working the streets, with Undergraduate degrees from the following universities, just to mention a few: Harvard, University of Chicago, Northwestern, De Paul, Loyola, University of Illinois, Urbana, Chicago and all outlying sites. Some of the Officers in Patrol, have Law Degrees and passed the Bar Exam, and others have Post Graduate Degrees. I know of one Officer, who has worked the street for almost 20 years. This particular Officer has multiple lifesaving awards, but because he doesn't have GoogleMe's Clout, the described Officer is in Patrol, instead of GoogleMe's job. Now all of this begs a simple question: HOW MUCH POLICE EXPERIENCE DOES GOOGLEME HAVE AND WHAT IS HIS ACADEMIC BACKGROUND? Students are being pulverized for whatever they may possess. We've gone soft and they've gone brutal.
We've turned into Honduras. Time to hire your own personal protection officer. Oh wait, the gold coast already has hired patrol. It's not enough. Since our police hands are tied, we must all rise up and take care of ourselves.
I urge everyone to take self defense classes, learn to handle a gun and keep it ready. I used to be anti gun, and thought we could all get along. Then reality sadly struck.

Editing the letter and then sending it would have been bad for a multitude of legitimate reasons, but part two is a pretty weak excuse for publishing what was obviously a veiled insult. If someone sends in a marginally coherent string of words, would he post that too? What about a letter that's full of profanity, racial or sexual innuendo? Does that go out to everyone unedited? This makes no sense.

He came on my crime scene on a police involved DOA and when I challenged him on why he was entering my scene and who he was to document, as we must do by general order, he gave me that " don't you know who I am" look and hesitated to give me his name, but ultimately did. Like I said, complete asshole.

I saw the world with new eyes in early 90s. Was always a repub, except once when young and exploring, which didn't last long.
Just never wanted to carry. Learned from that incident, that police can't arrive in time and one must have multiple options at all times. Always respected POs.
Regarding repub leanings around the true deranged, i kept my mouth shut except to my dear father, and very close NRA supporter friends, it wasnt as dangerous as it is now. If i slip when they're snowflaking, they look at me as if i'm deranged and politely shun me. No dinner parties. Lol Quit my church too. Was sick of hearing the stupidity.
I moved a few years ago and after a few additional close calls, and never looked back.

The original mailed in a letter was clearly a "veiled insult. It hit the internet first and then was dissimulated internally to CPD by your "Googleme/Guglielmi ". That somebody which such experience in public affairs did not see it for what it was and distributed it unedited only shows that 1) they are clueless and/or 2) they shared the same prejudice ,that CPD officers have a "tendency to shoot" youknowwho.
Even without that veiled insult , the letter was pathetic in its other point, that those two cops did not help the civilian out since they could not speak the same language . So final result is, I see more language training in your CPD future, heavily dosed with attendant cultural sensitivity training and of course more oversight too. Forget being able to read off "Miranda" in Spanish, shortly if you all can't give accurate directions in Swahili or Mandarin to the nearest Pot Store, you will be committing a hate-crime, now that is modern police work.You'll get paid the same, but your pension will go towards more cultural sensitivity/diversity monitors.
