Portraying yourself as a victim based on some one-hundred year old history doesn't seem to be the way to "progress" yourself into prosperity.

I would think that making a broad statement about people holding the highest office in the land is easily stated. I would agree that it is true. Saw on the news that Willie Wilson called a press conference to demand that every black person should get reparations for being black.

If I'm not mistaken, the subject of the 1919 Riot is covered in the exhibits at the Chicago History Museum, in the context of early 20th Century Chicago. You can learn a lot about Chicago and African Americans in Chicago there. The Museum even covers the Civil War, Slavery, and Reconstruction, in the context of Chicago in the 19th Century. But, when you're not from Chicago and just discover this History (which is not just on display at a Museum, but even written about in books at the Library) you can jump on it and say: "You see, my progressive agenda is correct. Chicago is Racist and needs to be fixed!" In reality though, I think this shows how disconnected Lightfoot is from Black Chicago. It's a compensation, over compensation perhaps, for how little she has in common with the South and West side constituencies She promotes the 1919 Riots as a near religious event to display her being down with the struggle more than you. Perhaps we need to pay for a City Hall field trip and take all of Lightfoot's administration to the Chicago History Museum to catch them up on a couple of hundred years of what else has been going on around here. On the Democratic debates tonight, liberal, best-selling "self-help" author Anne Williamson said that if elected president, she would immediately set aside five (5) BILLION dollars for reparations to Black Americans. That would roughly amount to 17,000 dollars to every Black American in this country (regardless of their current economic status). At first, I was appalled, but then, I'm thinking.... if we give those $17,000 repartition checks, and we, as a country are all good after that (as in, no more SNAP, no more LINK, no more SS benefits) I'm kind of agreeing to this. A one time payment of $17,000. and then we are clear forever after that. Let's fucking do it. My kids and grandchildren will be much better off.
I would bet that a lot of older blacks in Chicago would prefer 1919 to 2019. With a little bit of research to support this position, I bet the black neighborhoods were 99% safer, black murders by other blacks where probably low, robberies were seldom, 70% (heck maybe 90%) of black children were born in an intact family, more black business owners thrived in all black neighborhoods (without the need for metal gates in front of windows and doors), intact black families went to church together on Sundays, and drug use was almost non-existent. 100 years later ... these good black peoples’ souls are singing in Heaven with the Lord for being good, honorable and faithful people especially in a society that made it difficult for them to succeed economically. So back to 2019 - honestly the West and South sides are a disgrace and every race baiting politician who continues to support the policies that support the violence and HELL of 2019 Chicago need to go to HELL themselves. How do we allow 9 murders in just one weekend? I would pick 1919 any day.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. When I want the hard hitting reality of local and national news and reporting, I always turn to the journalistic reporting of the WGN morning news. Larry, Robin, Pat and Paul all make me laugh my a** off at their childish inability to report on anything of real concern and it is at those times they provide the greatest laughter, as they are paid to do.
The Democratic Party absolutely destroyed the Black Middle-Class in America with their policies..
What’s gonna happen when the wick that is lit finally explodes? They keep it up they keep turning up the heat, they are dredging things from all 100 years ago to try to get that explosion exactly what they’re doing we know it they know it they just want to be able to report on it so they can win some stupid award. I watched one or two of the "news" stories. I was wondering why they didn't tell about the whites and asians that were killed. How many immigrants were beaten by the black gangs and displaced? There is a lot more to this story than just oppressed black folks.

Modern day WGN is a far cry from the WGN of yesteryear, with Ray Rayner, Bozo Circus, Family Classics, Nightbeat. Now they are not so much family programming, and no nonsense, fact based news, but tools of the leftists, political correct, and trying to shape public opinions on issues.

I know the 90’s crack war was worse and had more murders but I was comparing 2019 to 1919. More murders in 90’s over a much larger population base too. Most sane people having been getting out of Chiraq. Per capita murders is a better comparable. Deaths are lower now due to advances in medicine and hospital trauma units. Bottom line - 1919 was safer than today, especially for blacks.
