Gasp! A Parolee?

  • A man on parole has been charged with turning a gun on two Chicago police officers as they responded to a shooting early Sunday at an Englewood gas station.

Jose Reynolds was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer in connection with the shooting and ordered held without bail Tuesday during a hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.

Reynolds was released on parole in December while serving a two-year sentence for a felony theft conviction, according to state records.

About 2:30 a.m. Sunday, the officers were inside a Citgo gas station at 251 W. 63rd St. when they heard gunfire outside, Cook County prosecutors said at the hearing.

The officers, who were on-duty, uniformed and driving a CPD squad car, which was parked in the lot, saw Reynolds and a co-offender in a red shirt firing black handguns and using a black SUV for cover, prosecutors said. When Reynolds and the person in the red shirt saw the officers, they turned their guns and fired in the officers’ direction.
No Bail? It's a miracle!

Did you see this one? Looks like I could have posted it in 2 of the threads tonight and it would have been applicable.

10.5 YEARS as a sentence in Boone County for a gun and 24 grams of heroin.
TEN AND A HALF YEARS. On a damn PLEA DEAL. If he plead out to 10.5, you know he was looking at 12-13 at least on a trial.
And I’m quite sure a Boone County Jury isn’t exactly something Mr. Chicago saw as being too favorable.
You know who doesn’t, and probably never will have a gun/drug problem?
Boone County.
If only we could take notes.

So attempted murder of a police officer is the minimum threshold for no bail? Good to know. The public defenders office is currently writing up an angry letter as we speak.

While I know that only people who work for a living would vote for this, we need to do several things to address violent crime in our state. 1) Eliminate parole for those convicted of violent or weapons-related crimes. 2) Pass a law allowing judges and States Attorneys to be removed from office if they don’t do their jobs. 3) Pass a law allowing police executives to be removed from office if they don’t do their jobs. 4) Charge everyone arrested for felon-in-possession of a gun and other serious gun offenses in Federal court. 5) Gangbangers automatically get the max sentence for any future convictions.

Taylor was released early on license but subsequently breached his licence condition and is now a wanted criminal.

After Facebook respondents mocked Taylor’s distinctive balding hairstyle, Gwent Police posted a message warning them that they could be arrested.

Why do the people who have half their sentences slashed "for good behavior" always exhibit such bad behavior when they're released? You'd think someone would have noticed it when they were in.
