Illinois Dropping the Ball

One has to wonder if Illinois politicians are so incompetent, they raise taxes, then blow this opportunity to make some real coin - or is this all some devious plan to get gambling dollars on top of the already raised taxes, thereby being able to have their cake and eat it, too:
  • The race to become the first Midwest hub of legal sports betting is on.

And Illinois is a lock to lose.

While Iowa launches its first legal sports books this week and Indiana gambling dens stand ready to start taking wagers next month, money will keep burning holes in the pockets of eager Illinois bettors as football season kicks into gear.

Even though the state’s massive gaming expansion was signed into law over six weeks ago, the Illinois Gaming Board still has to draft hundreds of rules governing application and oversight procedures that aren’t spelled out in the law. And while state lawmakers initially said they thought sports betting could launch in Illinois in time for the NFL kickoff in September — or at least by the Super Bowl in February — there’s no rollout in sight.
Way to stick it to taxpayers via inaction you idiots.

Just need more time to figure out the skim . Its Illinois. Its Chicago. Did anyone expect legitimate ? They have lobbyists write these laws and then there is no one with brains enough to implement them because they are morons.

How many other states have sports book betting?

Steal their rule books, and use the best.

Actually the pols are trying to figure out who gets a piece of the pie and what the percentage is. Once decided everything will roll out smoothly. Come on, this is the State of Illinois.

Why not just authorize the mob to open the sports books and tax them? It would be easier.
The payoff for the numbers rackets were higher when the mob ran them, than now when the Illinois Lottery is running them.

How much can the existing bookies pay a few people to slow the process?

It wouldn't take much if you find the right people, and it would all be tax free to them.

Once again, the people's republic of Illinois doesn't disappoint. The worst run state IN THE HISTORY of this great country.

That would be nice because everyone will already be drugged up chronic pains everyone has that and can be approved by even a nurse:

Pritzker makes medical marijuana program permanent, adds list of new conditions
https://chicago.suntimes.com/cannabis/2019/8/12/20802391/pritzker-makes-medical-marijuana-program-permanent-adds-list-new-conditions

Sister working at medical marijuana dispensary was told by state inspector that expect 150 people per hour starting January first when it becomes completely legal, and the quality they sell is stellar plentiful thc wait for accidents and crime to rise like Colorado and California.

“Just need more time to figure out the skim” and how many spots we can put “our guys”. Then they have to hire one competent person who they will work like a dog, while everyone else sits around, drinks coffee and bitches about how hard they work.

Great idea! Go one further and have the outfit run city hall like the good ol' days of the Accardo administration. More business, less bullshit.

Got to be fair. A few new members were just “appointed” by the governor to the Gaming Board a few weeks ago. Sports betting for this NFL season probably won’t happen. Laws and rules and regulations got to be developed and decided upon. Plus they have to decide where the 10 new casinos will go in the state of Illinois. And who will run them?

Cannabis taxes, gambling taxes, none of them will generate anything other than a pittance for the state.

Casinos and doe ships will only make a small amount for the connected owners. It won't be long, though, before the casinos go bust and the exploding black market that legalized weed will flourish (that's right, flourish) bury these joke industries.

It is not " inaction". You can bet that behind the scenes in locked rooms the political class is scheming on how to get their share of the pie.

- Graduated Taxes
...all going to make us the richest State in the nación.
Stop waiting for the day Illinois Lootery will pay for CPS and The Illinois Foolway to pay for roads and bridges.

Oh fu-k’it, lets just let them Dems raise taxes s’more.
Sanctuary First.

Why don’t they let that idiot ex-governor Quinn make all the nonsense rules like he did for the concealed carry in Illinois? In school teacher fashion which is that pettiness is a sign of intelligence there will not be a location to put the casino in Chicago. Just think no gambling signs on all of the off track betting parlors and and the casino itself. Man, will that save Illinois.

The Legislature repeats the pattern of "pass laws and give the responsible agency/agencies no time to draft rules, have comment periods or hearings, hire/appoint/train staff, or otherwise do things in an organized manner". ISP just announced it will take several MONTHS to issue rules governing the Gun Dealer Licensing Act, while expected to enforce the law already. The dealers that didn't give up and close stores or small-scale operations are furious and filed suit to stop enforcement of the law since nobody can tell them what the rules are. The Gaming Board is in a similar mess of unappointed/unhired people, rules in flux, and a senseless schedule created by a clueless Legislature.

Another giant leap backwards for the State of Confusion...err, I mean Corruption. "Illinois; we have no clue".

Are the IL folks depending on JaeBae Pignutztker, the renowned money manager from a family of the failed, Fed take-over Superior Bank and also attended the same prestigious economics university as Lootie LightLoafer, to save the sinking State? Wonk-wonk-wonk.
Yes, he has a plan. He’s a book smart, non practicing attorney (like MacGroot, Esq.) once considered by Blago as a contender for IL Atty General appointment. It’s on tape too.
Operation Dumbo Democrat Drop is proving to be quite a conundrum.

O/T -
Wonder where that IL education money goes...

As part of the new curriculum — set to launch in 2020 — the LGBTQ-focused lessons must be taught before the students reach the eighth grade, according to the report.
All textbooks “must include the roles and contributions of all people protected under the Illinois Human Rights Act and must be non-discriminatory as to any of the characteristics under the Act,”

A simple trifold pamphlet could do.
We’re gonna need more and bigger dumpsters for the next textbook purge.

Is there anyone scratching their heads about why Illinois is such a mess and losing population? They constantly make terrible decisions. The most incompetent people in America running the place. Embarrassing

The delay isn't to get things right. It's to corrupt the process in a way that helps donors, not the state. It's not like any of these pols care about the latter.
