Retiring Stars
- The police stars of three Chicago officers — one who was killed trying to thwart a shooting at Mercy Hospital last year, and two others who were struck by a train weeks later while investigating a report of gunfire — were retired Tuesday.
“These men were all fathers, these men were all CPD,” Supt. Eddie Johnson said at the ceremony at Chicago Police headquarters at 35th Street and Michigan Avenue, where their police stars were added to the “Honored Star Case.”
Always Remembered.

Lying Lori should’ve been out of town.. too bad she had to make an appearance and ruin this
Imagine giving up your Twenties, your Prime for this Job. May they RIP & please be careful because those people wouldn’t do it for you.
The days of Jane Byrne are gone and we will never see a Mayor who cared about The Police again.
Just a reminder one of the defendants/murders who murdered officer John Rivera 11295 is on trial this week in room 400. Please if anyone is at court this week stop in and show officer Rivers family some support through this difficult time.

Point of clarification. Although the Chicago police received a contract during Mayor Byrne's term, it wasn't because of any affection for the Chicago Police. Rather, it was a vindictive slap in the face to Frank Muscare, president of Firefighter's union. Some of you may remember when Byrne campaigned for mayor and promised firefighters a contract. When she balked at honoring that promise, she told the media that the firefighters "weren't ready" for a contract. As a result, the firefighters went on strike for 30 days. Byrne hired new recruits, who throughout their careers, were regarded as scabs. This is pretty ironic given the number of firefighters who worked side jobs in the trades, electricians, plumbers and carpenters. Anyway our gain was just a benefit of her animosity towards the firefighters who went on strike. Many believe, as this poster does, that Fightin Jane was the policeman's friend. The only copper she had any affection for was slain first Deputy Jim Riordan. All of us liked him.
God bless our blue and families. I'm so grateful for all of you
Thank you
Lori Lightweight should stay out of any police function. She has disrespected every police officer with her comments. RIP Officers, you are missed.
Eddie was probably sincere, Mayor BugEyes is incapable of being sincere.
It is a shame the Police are American heroes when wading into a hail of bullets but when you shoot a Fuck Head to defend yourself you are a villain !
Sparkle Farts and that Ferguson ANIMAL created that BS..
Be Safe,No more Star's .
You are not forgotten brothers. R.I.P.
Why would anyone want Lightfoot at their funeral. I’m getting the fuck outta here!
Nobody should have to die, be a casualty at work.
Thank the courts, judges, politicians, rerunds.
May they be in the arms of the Lord Almighty.
Totally unacceptable.
NOT ILLINOIS. NOT LAW.
To Soon Godspeed brothers prayers for your families!
more drama with chris coumo hey chris you should heed to the advice Michael Corleone gave to fredo in the godfather part II
Michael Corleone: "Fredo, you're nothing to me now. You're not a brother, you're not a friend. I don't want to know you or what you do. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance so I won't be there..."

And if she wasn't there they'd be complaining she didn't show respect with her presence. Which is it?
I went to this case to take pictures of it for my web page. The asshole at the desk said I couldn't because "the lobby was closed." I'm in the lobby, this IS the lobby.
SCC,
I figured this would be a good time to also emphasize that the FOP should be pushing hard for the ability for supervisors to grant an early release from work after the news regarding swiping out at the end of tour. No one knows for sure what the policy will be but the ability for a supervisor to let an officer leave early for doing good work, dealing with family/childcare conflicts or when an officer is having a rough day and it’s better they aren’t at work. The FOP should be angling that a supervisor should have the authority to dismiss and officer prior to the end of his tour on the basis of mental health maintenance/awareness. There’s no way Lightfoot could argue against the mental health of officers(she’ll definitely try). We have a major issue with suicide and overall morale. Anyone that works in a normal salary job has asked their boss about leaving a couple hours early because they have to make their kids championship game or graduation or they wanted to beat traffic to get up to their lake house without having to burn their comp time and it should be no different for police officers, especially because we don’t have normal M-F jobs that lend themselves to not missing out on things. I’m sure they could come up with some 3 letter acronym to say why an officer was let out early and therefore unable to swipe out at the end of their tour.
We aren’t going to be able to stop this train from running us over, but we can play their game and keep one of the only incentives a boss has to help his guys out and one of the only incentives an officer has for working hard for any boss.
Rest in Valhalla brothers.
Was the mental midget there?
If you've never gone to DC for police week, I highly recommend going. It will change you I ways you never thought possible. Never forget. It's really sad, I have all these pro-police shirts and I only wear them to the gym. You never know what kind of nutball you'll run into if you wear pr0-police shirts out;
Well said. Jane treated CPD decently so that we wouldn't join CFD in their strike.
The fake hating anti-police mayor Lightfoot, should NOT be at any police related functions!!!!
".... FOP should be pushing hard for the ability for supervisors to grant an early release from work ..."
something like what already in place which grants them to "excuse" after 4 hours or carry "SIF" --which is paid
SCC: Slightly off topic, but worth noting:
For the past seven years actor/comedian Joel Murray (younger brother of Bill Murray) has been hosting a golf outing event at the Canal Shores Community Golf Course (Evanston-Wilmette) to benefit charities directed towards "First Responders" such as police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and members of the military. The invited "First Responder" guests are an eclectic bunch drawn not only from Chicago, but the NYPD, and occasionally elsewhere. The participants get to golf with some actors and retired Chicago athletes. Here's some video footage from a prior golf outing held in 2018:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzV3ZKAnfb8
At the 2019 golf outing on August 5th, some liberal snowflake complained that Canal Shores permitted a "Thin Blue Line" police flag to be displayed on one of its flag poles. The complainer decried the flag as serving to promote a form of "racism."

Obviously, the complaining ass hat loathes the police and was seeking to maintain good standing as a Democratic-Socialist.
hey chris (fredo) cumeo here is my Michael Corleone of the godfather part II describing you
"Fredo has a good heart, but he is weak...and stupid, and stupid people are the most dangerous of all. I've kept you out of things, Tom, because I've always known that your instincts were legitimate, "
8/14/2019 12:23:00 PM
I agree with you. The job is not a clerical or factory job where workers swipe in and out. I understand swiping in but no swiping out. We already have at least 5 suicides a year so just tighten the screws and watch the number rise. Are you reading this Ed? Tom Lemmer (Tom, I know you don't read this blog)? or is Ed talking out of two sides of his face about preventing suicides?
I have 20 years on the job and during my career three officers I have known have committed suicide. Three too many! Be kind to each other because we are the first line of defense.
Rest in Peace to all.
I figured this would be a good time to also emphasize that the FOP should be pushing hard for the ability for supervisors to grant an early release from work . . .

It's called comp time
Just do you know they hate when they are mentioned, Riccio, Riccio, Biggane and Biggane.
#9 NYPD suicide today. At home in Queens. GSW.

The WC has always been able release somebody from duty without taking time. There is a procedure for that.
Good lord.
Anybody who thinks that Jane Byrne was anybody’s friend ought to turn themselves in.
You’re a danger to yourself and others.
Bosses have a hard time being fair with the early outs. Certain po’s always have the problems and want early outs and it’s not usually the beat guy. And it’s not given for good work either
“but the ability for a supervisor to let an officer leave early for doing good work”
^That’s exactly the reason majority of us beat coppers want to see (swiping out) so assholes like you will pull your weight till the end of tour and not dump your beat’s late DOA’s on us. Swiping will improve morale.
9161 here, can’t stand Groot but grateful for the swiping now coming.
God bless you officers RIP

You are both very, very wrong about Jane Byrne. She was our friend when she was in city hall long before becoming Mayor and as our Mayor before the CFD went on strike. And, it was 21 days, not 30.
Bozo’s sidekick, Cookie, Our current Mayor has played this “I don’t need The Police and sure as hell wouldn’t give a peanut laden SHIT for those who protect Our City. I only wish we could see her with Cookies Makeup Cuz that’s about all she’ll give Our People in Blue.
Could you imagine if Shortshanks imposed that C/O must be shorter than me thing, but Cookie enforced it? We’d have that Tribe from Willy Wonka’s Umpa Lumpas as Our Entire Command Staff.
Then we’d have Two sets of people wearing makeup.

Evidently you weren’t working then. Byrne was good to the police. When they had the 4th of July fireworks or concerts during the taste there were fronts rows blocked off for CPD, not the politicians. She also arranged for parking at Navy Pier for CPD during the event and had traffic control to guide CPD to the parking. I along with other CPD shared a private(CPD only) area to enjoy the events
Also she would routinely pick up the check for officers in restaurants if they were in there when she walked in.
RIP BROTHERS IN BLUE
God bless Jane Byrne!
The city should rename enabler Maggie Daley Park to Jane Byrne Park.
In retrospect, Dirty L'il Richie and his enabling spouse were the scum of the earth.

Firefighters miscalculated. They thought she would cave the first day. She didn’t so they tried to get the labor unions to go on strike with them. All that time they were working trades jobs while not being in the union and were not honoring picket lines when other unions were out on strike
CFD strike was 23 days...I know I lived everyday of it with my family member.
