Fillmo' Extends Homicide Lead
- Three of four men who were shot at a convenience store near a busy intersection in the city’s West Garfield Park neighborhood Wednesday have died, authorities said.
The attack prompted a lockdown of at least one school in the area.
The victims were wounded at the Quick Food Mart in the 4200 block of West Madison Street about 2:50 p.m., according to police and fire department officials.
All of the victims were standing on the sidewalk outside the business when multiple shots were fired from a passing white sedan, police said, citing preliminary reports.
Firstly, if by some miracle, 011 didn't have another homicide all year and every other District in the city maintained their current rate of killing, Fillmore would coast to their sixth-in-a-row homicide title - an unprecedented feat in modern times.
Secondly, this happened right after Accountability Tuesday, and it seems no one has been demoted from 011 at all. Imagine that.
And lastly, seeing as how we're imagining things, and there's not a chance in Hell that 011 is going to go even 48 hours without some form of massive retaliation, you boys and girls on the west side watch your asses. Summer ain't over yet and this has every indication of spilling over into 015 and 025.

Not one of the local TV stations led with this story on either the 10 o'clock news. In fact on ABC 7, they led with the inspector General releasing the file on the Laquan McDonald case, which has been exhausted to the point of nauseum. CBS 2 led their news with an outraged attorney calling former detective Reynaldo Guevara a dirty cop and claiming the entire CPD is corrupt. Finally, NBC 5 led with a 10 year old girl who was bullied at her school in Frankfort because she's a minority. Yet, there are three dead and one critically wounded and the local media doesn't think of this as a mass shooting yet alone a lead story? If it wasn't so sad it would almost be funny. The news agencies in this city are beyond despicable.
Since there is no standard on mass shooting definition. They use definitions that promote what narrative they want at the time. As of today ,inner city shootings dont count as mass shootings in the day yo day shootings that get reported on. They only count as mass shootings when they want to report sone outrageous number as the total amount of mass shootings in a year. I grew up in a safe, wonderful neighborhood in St. Thomas Aquinas (STA) parish in (South) Austin. I went to St. Mel H.S. at Kildare and Madison. We often went to the movies at theaters called the State, the Byrd and the Marbro, all long gone. The Marbro, since razed, and St. Mel were located only a minute's walk from where yesterday's triple murder occurred.
They have since renamed my old parish church (STA), 5112 W. Washington Blvd., to St. Martin de Porres, a black South American saint. Our neighborhood rivals lived south of Madison St. in Resurrection ("Res") parish on Jackson Blvd. "Res" no longer exists. Anyone who considers joining the CPD should be wearing a straightjacket.
I recently had to drive through the old neighborhood. I swear I had just entered the TWILIGHT ZONE.
The city should give the officers who work the streets in that God forsaken 11th District a significant salary bonus and a special combat ribbon for their uniforms.

Phil Cline was Tac Lt. He was a relentless joker and ball-buster, who loved to get under the skin of then Commander, Nate Gibson. (of Nate Sucks fame)
Updated stats had just been posted. As per usual, 011 was leading the city in homicides.
