- Alongside the Chicago Fire Department and the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, we are beginning the process of modernizing our administrative support and information technology functions under the City's new Office of Public Safety Administration.
The Office of Public Safety Administration will integrate the administrative units of CPD, CFD and OEMC into a streamlined division, better supporting the needs of our city's first responders. All administrative functions will be transferred to a new unit designed to bring finance, HR, IT and other administrative functions into a more efficient unit.
The units that will be affected are as follows: Finance Division, Human Resources Division, Timekeeping Unit-Headquarters, Medical Section, Grant Section, Information Services, Information and Strategic Services, General Support, Police Documents, Equipment and Supply Section and Facilities Management Division.
- All personnel will remain in place until the Office of Public Safety Administration is fully operational. There will be opportunities to find reassignments based upon operational needs in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements, as well as duty status of affected members. We are working with labor affairs and Bureau leadership to ensure an efficient transition for affected members.
The transition of sworn officers and uniform personnel back to the streets will take place over the next six months, with expected launch of the new agency on or before May 1, 2020. The primary locations of the new agency will be located at Public Safety Headquarters, 3510 S. Michigan Ave and the Office of Emergency Management and Communications at 1411 W. Madison.

It was so dumb to close those to begin with. Especially Harrison and kedzie. You’ve got the busiest district right there with 011 and then 015 and 010 right there too. Just stupid to have closed that. Hopefully they continue to undo all the stupid shit mcarthey did while he was here. Reopening of 013? 023? The 12th and 19th districts are just way too huge. For 21 years on and spend 19 at HQ, happens every summer and I’ve never spent more than a week in a squad and never had to answer a job that I didn’t volunteer to take (operation closed market, operation safe schools, then operation safe summer) I’ve seen it all, and ain’t gonna go nowhere. I can’t remember the last time I had to bid for a watch or furlough for that matter. Ain’t nothing gonna change. Gotta love this place.

Watch some of these civilian in MSS.. There was this guy Love, he tried telling me I didn't have this, need that, all of which I had and previously had approved when it was submitted. So I start emailing him "clarification of our call" emails, my proof he's dicking me around. Then I show up with tape recorder in hand and documentation he alleged I didn't have/never submitted and I tell him I'm going to record our meeting. Boy, he steps out, Sgt steps in and ask to stop recording and after my explanation, I'm excused and I've never had to see that civilian at MSS again.

I wanted to like the guy, but time has told the story on him. He is an asshole. Good riddance, but it will still take a lot of years to reverse his fuckery.

It was so dumb to close those to begin with. Especially Harrison and kedzie. You’ve got the busiest district right there with 011 and then 015 and 010 right there too. So the dicks were always a couple mins away. Now, if u get a shooting they have to come from Belmont and western in always heavy traffic and you’re lucky to see them in an hour. Just stupid to have closed that. Hopefully they continue to undo all the stupid shit mcarthey did while he was here. Reopening of 013? 023? The 12th and 19th districts are just way too huge. At that size they’re hard to manage. So many different bar areas in 019 to deal with now. 012 is booming with gentrification. I hope they address that next.

For 21 years on and spend 19 at HQ, happens every summer and I’ve never spent more than a week in a squad and never had to answer a job that I didn’t volunteer to take (operation closed market, operation safe schools, then operation safe summer) I’ve seen it all, and ain’t gonna go nowhere. I can’t remember the last time I had to bid for a watch or furlough for that matter. Ain’t nothing gonna change. Gotta love this place.

Way too much money being thrown around for CFD. Everyone gets promoted 3 times, too many Chiefs, Helicopter is a waste of money , big boat is a waste of money and letting these guys work daily days is a waste of money. Put them on 12 hour shifts and take away all the specialty bumps in pay that most of them never use !
