Blog Writes the News

  • Last weekend the 16th (Jefferson Park) Police District’s tactical team was detailed to the West Side, reportedly leaving the district without tactical officers on one of the evenings.

A Chicago Police Department spokeswoman said that "it was a one-time event and not meant to be a permanent" detailing out.

On Nov. 1 and 2, eight 16th District tactical officers and a sergeant were sent to work in the 11th (Harrison) District from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

On Friday night, the 16th District was able to bring in four tactical officers who were paid overtime to work on their day off, but on Saturday evening there reportedly were no tactical officers working in the district.
Aldermen were unhappy:
  • Aldermen Nicholas Sposato (38th) said that he talked to the department on behalf of the seven aldermen whose wards are in the 16th District and told police officials that "we didn’t want it to happen again." He added that he was assured there were no plans to do so again.

"It’s the first time it’s happened in a long time, (but) it’s absolutely not fair. … We have crime here, and we pay taxes," Alderman Anthony Napolitano (41st) said.

"The 11th District has 411 officers to our 230 or 240, and now you’re pulling our resources and putting our tactical over there," Napolitano said. If the department needs more officers in the 11th District, it should be hiring more officers or paying overtime to existing officers in that district, he said.

Alderman Jim Gardiner (45th) said that he raised the issue of the tactical team with Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson at a City Council hearing. "There is crime on the Northwest Side," Gardiner said. "You can’t start taking our tactical team."
Stop talking sense Aldermen. You'll scare people.

Oh pleeeeze! Those pilgrimages to the west side and even before that to the south side have been going on for years. You would be sent on a mission to do stops, arrests etc. only. But once you got over there those Commanders would say, you will answer calls. So you were caught between a rock and a hard place. And what was infuriating seeing some beat cars sitting on jobs just screwing off while we had to answer their calls. And I don’t mean everybody as there were people in those districts who should be getting extra pay for all work they were doing.

Police interaction with "The Community"
is physically, mentally, emotionally,
financially and vocationally fraught
with politically, socially and culturally
weaponized peril...

Stop stealing Police from well-behaved areas
and lavishing them on ruined, hyper-violent,
death-loving, society hating communities.

If they scream and yowl about making
the Police leave them alone, then leave
them the fuck alone and let them sort each
other out without Police and societal
interference/intervention.

Let Dude be Dude...

Adopt a containment strategy to ensure
that Dude can only predate and be an
affliction on other dudes.

There's NOTHING The Police can do to fix it.

Slump, slouch and lean.
Give them nothing to hurt you with.

Starve COPA to skeletons.

Look.
Point & Laugh.
Leave.

Pull a pension.

Move to a law abiding Red State and enjoy
a much better quality of life in the company
of upright, like minded, law/order/civility
loving people.

Yeah this whinnying plays well with the voters, but in reality is meaningless. Groot and the super, whoever that will eventually be, will do whatever they want with the extra manpower to supplement existing manpower in any particular district in order to avert crime or ensure crowd control.

I know we heard it before but seems this could be legit. Numerous district tact officers are talking about bidding to steady watches for 1st period due to the recent changes made to the department under Lightfoot. It appears that this maybe a case of enough being enough and the grass looking greener working a beat car as opposed to tact. Something about Cancelled days off, being sent to other districts, absolutely zero benefits left, swiping in and out, working midnight hours on the weekends, no reward for getting heads.... this is coming from tact guys with over 10-15 years contemplating the demise of the CPD... there’s actually a lot more freedom and stability working a watch than Tact now... who would of thunk???

Many moons ago we get a call in our “home district” to see a woman complainant regarding neighbor selling dope out of his house. She was really pissed off as she said she kept calling but we weren't doing anything about it. We explained that this was the first we heard of it. She said how could we not know. Well, we said we have been detailed to the West Side for days that’s why. So we went in looked at the calls for service. And yes they were all coded 19B &Ps. Next day we went back and one of our girls dressed up as a hype and made a buy. So we arrested the mope. A few days later the DC reams us out, telling us don’t you ever tell a citizen you were detailed out of the district. And here we solved the problem in the district and got screamed at. We continued to be detailed out. The mindset on this dept is below par.

In order to satisfy the progressives and the black alderman who actually believe that the police are the reason for the crime, police officers should be fairly distributed in each district according to population and not to calls for service or crime stats. Lets see how that works out for them.

Shame on those nasty White aldermen denying the Black wards more police protection. How dare they make policing a racial issue. They need to face the fact the the Black and Hispanic caucus have more clout than the White caucus, on wait there is no White Caucus is there that would be construed as racist. Just because their neighborhoods contribute most of the cities tax revenues doesn't mean they deserve adequate police protection.

There's approx. 62K population in Mt. Greenwood,Beverly and Morgan Pk with TWO beat cars.
I'll bet if the Chief of Orland Pk told his citizens, "We're only going to patrol town with 2 cars, and we may send them out of town to patrol Harvey and Dolton," see how long the Mayor is in office.

And you guys in 016 have a population larger than Schaumburg and everything around it.

"...there’s actually a lot more freedom and stability working a watch than Tact now... who would of thunk???"

Lol, dude it's been like that for YEARS it's just tact/unit guys are TERRIFIED to go to a watch and answer domestics, paper jobs, etc. because the bosses on these teams have brainwashed them that a beat car is a demotion. Learned it 15+ years ago. I have a rdo weekend coming up, I'm hitting the road out of town and enjoying the boat. In all those years only had 3 rdo's cancelled. Countless friends on teams have had their weekends cancelled the night before regularly. The OT is nice, but not if you have no choice. They grin & bear it cause they dread going back to the watch. Sure, they get taken care of in other ways, weekends carried off the books, etc. but "Stability"? Teams and tact ain't it! Never has been. Trust me, in a busy district, on the watch, you can supertroop (why would you want to anyway?) all you want. Plenty of dope boys to round up, on YOUR terms, not at the whim of some clout boss. Once again, if the 10-15 year team guys took this long to "get it" then they'll stay where they're at. NO independent, Free thought allowed on any teams or units.

they have been doing this for years why so surprised now? the people that pay the bills get less and less services as usual the democrats like this, and they like the lawlessness to continue that is why crimesha and toni (where they be hiding so silent), want them freed early to cause more murder and mayhem! If you get an extra hole in your body,or loved 1 is kilt lay the blame where it belongs at the doorsteps of the elected idiotic anti-police democrats!

Maybe some of these ace reporters should start FOIAing dispatch logs, time and attendance records, sergeant logs in the tax paying districts to learn what is actually going on manpower wise.

As a previous poster correctly noted, dude will be dude, striping resources from one area for another just allows disease to spread.

Like someone previously posted, this has gone on for years. The next thing you know, some preacher or Alderman in those areas or race baiting “news reporter” or community activist will cry that those communities are being over policed, not to mention unfairly policed by white officers. That is until the shit hits the proverbial fan and they will cry they aren’t getting enough police resources. I pay my taxes and expect that there will be the necessary manpower when I call, but time and time again it’s diverted. That’s complete b.s. and one of the largest reasons I’ll leave the city Michelle Obama. I ain’t running from black people. I’m running from nonsense identity politics and the political shell game of accountability.
