“I love this job. I love this city. I have given 31 years now to this city and almost four as superintendent. But, I recognize also that, at some point, it’s time to create a different chapter in your life,” Johnson told reporters during a break at his third — and probably final — City Council budget hearing.
“Former Mayor Rahm Emanuel probably said it best when he said, `These are jobs of a lifetime. But, they’re not jobs for a lifetime.’”
Especially when you get a job you never even applied for, forever mortgaging your soul to a nine-digit-midget. You were a great fall guy Special Ed, and a great foil for numerous jokes and asides we made at your expense.

When you start racking up major life losses because of alcohol, it’s time to get help, Aside from his political puppetry, it’s fair to say that jeopardizing your job as police Superintendent, disregarding health directives from your transplant team, humiliating your family AND an entire City on the world stage is a major loss. It demonstrates that alcohol comes first. And given his age, his recent behavior, and deteriorating health, his drinking has probably progressed into the late stage of addiction. If he doesn’t address this issue right now he’s going to have an awful lot of free time on his hands to drown his sorrows. If he chooses to get help, he can become a grateful recovering alcoholic, it he doesn’t, he’ll remain a cautionary tale.

she might be made acting, but unless the city ordinance has changed, the Police Board must announce the position and take applications from all comers and send the final three names to the mayor. Just because Staples is gay, might give her an inside track with a gay mayor and I would not be surprised at that for this is a city for cronyism and symbolism .

This is a public institution and it seems like it is calling down the forces of the law on a person with views they do not like. And, these forces can ruin a person. However, if we signed up and paid in the allotted time, then why fuck is the city lowering the chances for the officers who did what they were suppose to do in the first place? Can the union do anything? (I know but worth asking lol). So more people presumably paid and made the number higher which means I actually have to study wtf! All kidding aside, it is BS and Shame on those who didn’t sign up cause the odds may never be this good again. Good to have options peeps, maybe next time. Soon there will be more chiefs than engines so why not jump on the band wagon, there’s some serious knuckleheads already “supervising”.

She replied that's it's all a perception, that crime is down on the CTA. Tunny then referred her to the stats he had, which were produced by CPD which indicates that crime is up. This is what I keep saying, but people are still giddy to get rid of Ed. And I get it, Ed has been a disaster, but as you stated it can always get worse. And it will. No one ever thinks about the replacement. “Fire this coach! Fire this manager! Bench this player!” But they never think about “okay fine, but who will we get as a replacement? As bad as Ed was, I would guarantee the next superintendent will be much worse. Be careful what you wish for, you’re about to get it. The devil you know is better than the one you don’t.
So Eddie has 31 years in and has averaged around $260,000 the last four years. Does that mean his pension will be around $208,000 a year! Starting immediately upon retirement. She replied that's it's all a perception, that crime is down on the CTA. Tunny then referred her to the stats he had, which were produced by CPD which indicates that crime is up. The response **crickets**.

She goes way back with Sleepyintendent. Was the commander of 017 and then 012 after the merger with 013. Generally well-liked by officers who worked. Dogasses, not so much. Citizens really liked her personal, go to beat meetings style. McCarthy hated her b/c Tiny Dancer liked her. She got moved to a couple of XO and dc spots in Patrol. After MCCarthy got shitcanned, her Star was on the rise. Her friends say she does not want the job.

Unless the city ordinance has changed, the Police Board must announce the vacancy, the qualifications and applications and take all comers, conduct interviews and narrow the field down to three names and send those names to the mayor. That is how it worked the last time, but Rahm bulldozed his way with the black alderman and selected Johnson as his useful idiot. The same thing might happen again.

Because she was composed and articulate on TV after workplace shooting deaths in Aurora. She’s also LGBTQ.
I met her at a golf outing this summer with her officers who were shot and the mutual admiration was very evident. Maybe Groot will bring her in from the burbs.
