Crimesha on the Hot Seat

Someone noticed the massive uptick in shoplifting, especially downtown and at Mag Mile shops, but generally citywide:
  • Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx is facing criticism for the way her office is handling shoplifting crimes, and it comes at the height of the holiday shopping season.

Thieves have been brazen and bold, scooping up merchandise and walking out of stores. Chicago Police report one of the latest cases happened Friday, Dec. 13, when four thieves entered a retail store in the 1800-block of West Fullerton, and walked away with more than 20 coats in their arms. There are also concerns in Chicago's Loop.

"It's not like when I grew up," said Michael Edwards, president and CEO of the Chicago Loop Alliance, an organization that represents more than 200 stores on State Street. "People are coming in and grabbing armloads of merchandise and walking out of the store."

Edwards said retailers are concerned about Foxx's retail theft policy. After taking office, Foxx raised the felony threshold for theft from $300 to $1,000. Thirty states have set their threshold at $1,000 or more, according to the Pew Research Center.
Channel 7 doesn't even mention the CrimeInBoystown blog that led the way on this story and posted the video that showed the brazenness of these thieves.

Crimesha says that she's shifting focus to gun crimes, which is a laugher, seeing as how CPD has (supposedly) taken 10,000 guns "off the street" and Chicago still is perched on the cusp of five-hundred dead and another twenty-seven-hundred maimed.

By the way, she set that "$1,000 threshold" policy in violation of State Law. There is no provision that we are aware of where a States Attorney gets to write law. They are supposed to follow the law as passed by the Legislature. You want to change it, go to Springfield and do it there. We're pretty sure her office will supply her with a car and/or airfare.

Funny they could find a video of an incident that happened “just over state lines” in Wisconsin, but couldn’t show footage of the incident that happened in Chicago this past week.

And I like how they talk in percentages now when talking about crimes. Well how about a raw number of cases.
THAT is something that would be more telling as to how the CCSAO is prosecuting cases year over year as well.
A higher percentage overall doesn’t necessarily mean much if overall arrests/prosecutions is lower.
Liars figure, and figures lie.

How does prosecuting gun crimes benefit retailers? Can’t we prosecute BOTH? We have for many years.
God, K-Fuxxx can’t go soon enough.

It's racist, raise the bar for conviction to keep them from prison. Leftists don't need laws, they have feelings and will impose their wills on you without any regard to if it's legal or not. Publish lies and repeat them all the time. There's a wage gap! Men make more than women, it's not fair! Actually, a prosecutor has broad flexibility in setting prosecution policies and can charge a $999 theft as a misdemeanor with the words, "a portion of which does not exceed $300." The dollar amount argument is fuzzy and with inflation probably more realistic. That said, the prosecution policy would serve the public interest more if it was not based on artificial dollar amounts but on more relevant factors such as:

1. What was stolen? Seldom in 30 years have I seen Children's Tylenol stolen by someone who couldn't afford it but needed the medicine for a sick kid.

2. Was the theft a stupid, individual act (kid taking a CD) vs. an organized shoplifting ring (the burbs see that a lot)?

3. First-time dumbass vs. repeat offender? Gang involvement?

I was never a big fan of dollar amounts as a guiding line. You have to look at the crime and the criminal. Sometimes a crime may seem "minor" but then it could be gang related.

"Execution of duly enacted law-enforcement" is of LOWEST PRIORITY in Chicago. Here, abiding principle is "do as little as possible, whenever possible", followed by "inaction and ineptitude is richly rewarded". Even CPD experiences this.

A friend was hired by Preckwinkle administration to head-up a small Cook County department of college-degreed professionals who did as little work as possible. Projects delayed months, even years, without reprecussions. Uncontrolled spending on employee perks (Friday lunches, take-home cars, comped meals). No employee reviews, not even employee job descriptions, just annual salary bumps on top of above-market salary packages. Employee abstenteeism and petty theft, damage to county property (cars) and taking of bribes (from contractors). And these employees could neither be fired (unless first arrested) nor demoted (very quick to threaten superior, and file grievances themselves) or retrain (not interested). Department operated like a TV sitcom, and nothing much gets "done", and yet it's tolerated, and frankly, tolerated at Preckwinkle-level.

That's how many of these supposed "professionals" operate in their designated capacity. Don't be surprised if Kim and her minions eke-out the bare-minimum "legal services". Don't be surprised if long lunches, extended leaves, absenteeism, shopping trips and conventions, et al eat-up their work-day. (Why, Kim even needed to attend the Academy Awards, in course of her SJW mission.)

This "something for nothing" Chicago philosophy of governance is having a direct impact now on future residential high-rise real estate development in Near North, Near West, and Near South Sides. Pipeline of anticipated projects already shutting down. Zoning attorneys note that new requirements are not only complex and punitive, but also make new residential high-density development near impossible. Even rich real estate developers don't have endless pot of money to give poor folks the Gold Coast lifestyle desired. Contemplated new projects are now suddenly failing to financially "pencil-out" as viable business proposals. Lenders don't lend on projects whose pro forma financial models don't work when a significant number of units must be rented/sold at below-cost prices.

Surprised the building trade unions haven't objected yet, because high-rise residential construction is about to stop dead in next two years, unless "onsite subsidized units" requirement is lifted again.

It doesn't affect current ongoing construction, but will soon choke-off new projects.

Hereon, new Chicago residential developments are subject to new onerous "on-site affordable housing mandate", requiring inclusion of significant # low-income housing units. No matter location, no matter cost of site, no matter cost of construction. Basically poor people, per SJWs, deserve FOR FREE what rich people can/will buy. And per SJWs, rich people should live cheek-to-jowl with poor people, even though one group pays for it and the other gets it "gifted", even if their lifestyles and habits of comportment don't mesh well. Same with those Canadian Goose coats: rich people can buy them, poor folks can just take them from the store or the wearer-owner.

Per SJW mentality, "society" can't deny anyone their "right to possess" whatever they want, whether they can afford it, whether it must be gifted to them to achieve that desire. Work ethic is kaput. "Free for everyone" prevails.

And so you get the goons stealing armloads of new coats, while hapless security guards pensively watch without recourse.

Then you have democratic judges who attempt to legislate themselves from the bench, changing law as they see fit. Then you have the democratic legislatures passing laws that severely affect sentencing and incarceration resulting in vastly reduced time behind bars. I wonder if this is the progressive answer tothe myth of mass incarceration ?

I have to agree with you, but this is pretty hard to codify and apply. "It's not like when I grew up"

One thing has changed - have you noticed that the advertising images in the stores, the music they play, even the mannequins, look like and appeal to the very people who are shoplifting? But what's intended as ennobling and open-minded is instead inspiring an attitude of pathological entitlement. It's intended as a message of inclusiveness, but is interpreted as a message of, "This store belongs to you - take it." This dynamic is happening everywhere, and is not limited to high-end stores on the Mag Mile. "This society belongs to you - take it."

I would argue that establishing a retail store in Cook County is entrapment. Remember the semi truck they parked on the south side to catch the crew which was boosting crap from the railyard? That was called entrapment and the looters were let go.

By 2025, we are going to see nost products behind plexiglass. Want to see something in the case? Pay for it first - or otherwise give up something of value while you handle the store's item of value.

File this under "how to kill a city". That is, when the cost if securing product and places becomes greater than what that product could be sold. I'm going to call the extra cost we pay in Chicago to compensate for theft and private security the "Shithead Tax."

This shoplifting trend goes beyond just the prosecutorial discretion imposed by restorative justice crusader KimmJongFoxxx.
It’s the Democrats and their donors which includes the judgeships.
If the local Merchant Association wants reform then they need to get their friends and neighbors to oust these Machine Democrats by cutting off the flow of campaign cash. However, they can always rely on JB primeCuts for that generosity as well as the mysteriously funded PAC’s.

Though many if not all merchants refuse to sign complaints or show up for court when they do, it’s the process that’s thwarted by CookCo that makes this frustrating. It’s about time someone isn’t blaming retailers for hands-off policy. Liability and safety of the innocent fed up law abiding employees is by far more important. It’s neglect of duty by CookCo States Attorneys. I still think most chain retailers will always maintain a hands off just to keep things from going bad to worse.

What’s never ever factored or mentioned with these CookCo property crimes is the costs tacked on to the regular consumer because the all stores have to operate with gains to remain open. As operating costs and losses go up, so does pricing. if they can’t balance that budget they close up. Besides city high taxes, there’s lease rates and insurance rates to operate in crime ridden Lawless Sanctuary City.
It’s why theres a retailer shortage in certain economic underdeveloped areas, which at one time flourished until the mid-1960’s.

Kick out Foxxx in March 2020, then Prickwrinkle in 2022...you’ll see court appointed Tim Evans finally ousted too.

OT: as I write WVON has a ACLU attorney Rachel Murphy spouting about 300,000 blacks are being pulled over and not being ticketed. Saying officers are using the blue card verbal warnings as an excuse to pull over men of color for the sack of profiling. Saying that verbal warnings are harmful to their feelings. Quote “what if someone they know has seen them being stopped”. She goes in to say the ACLU doesn’t want everyone ticketed. Well bitch make up your fucking mind. If you stop’em write’em, or just don’t stop anyone at all. Let them run over their kids and grandma.

Add this to that, sister works at a dispensary , asked me what is the plan with police for the thousands expected on day 1? did not hear of any plan, asked in the commanders office and no plan. The question is whats going to happen with weed in short supply and the dispensary quickly runs out? Bet the pothead people/folks after waiting in line in the cold will all quietly disburse or will they be like "reefer madness," movie and go insane? The mayor is directly responsible for pushing this terrible idea, maybe she could put her top coppers from her detail outside the dispensary to protect and serve!

Just saw charlie doing a news conference worried about community policing hey charlie the weed test is coming you up for it?

We ready for crowds like this:

https://boston.cbslocal.com/video/3981499-first-recreational-marijuana-sales-begin-in-mass/

Then this as they drive away?:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrsbjjuDTzU

Will the skinny jeans, baseball cap wearing, jeep driving kids be able to handle it when something breaks out? Charlie will you be out there of behind the scenes like this Charlie:

I work in the eighth district I thought about this for a while now what was going to happen because we have a couple dispensaries in our district there is no plan, if there’s anything else they would assign a couple of cars just to be outside there to keep an eye on things I know that in the dispensaries in our district and they are retired Chicago coppers work in there so if they call for help personally I will get there as quick as I can but I was hoping that maybe they would assign a couple cars outside. After all the mayor like you stated in one of this this is her Deal her responsibility to make sure that the safety of the people is number one. As far as Charlie goes here is another city however California has weed all over the place so Shirley has a way of figuring out how to protect the areas or Daisy?

If this is one of the Jessie Jackson marches or something of that nature or father flaky they would have police all over the place covering it with massive amounts of coppers but of course even though the mayor wants this watch and see the shit show that will happen as stated in other places. The mayor today reinforced her order not to ticket or really get involved with anyone smoking weed by their property on their sidewalks close to it why bother doing anything anymore why not just let the old heroine let that also be not criminal? The Democrats have destroyed everything in society now they are going to finish destroying the people, and we’d many people are saying oh it’s not gonna hurt anybody this is not the weed from years ago this is very powerful the THC levels are very high look up the dispensaries in your districts online look at their menus, Look at how powerful the THC levels are we are going to have a lot of people that are going to be frantic. Look at the chewables the effects take one to two hours people that are amateurs are going to use these and say wow I’m not getting anything from this take more and more pretty soon they’re gonna start getting the psychoactive effects from it start calling of the ambulances.

Two men who held up a Speedway gas station in Naperville in 2017 have been sentenced to prison.
Robert C. Hill, 20, of Carol Stream, was given a 16-year term Friday and his accomplice, Willie Booker, 23, of Streamwood, was sentenced Thursday to 18 years, according to a news release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office.
Both men pleaded guilty to armed robbery in September for their roles in the hold-up of the station in the 600 block of North Route 59, the release said.
Authorities said the pair, accompanied by a third person, entered the store about 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2017, and demanded money from the clerk, the release said. Booker displayed a handgun and struck the clerk in the back of the head with the weapon because he was not moving quickly enough, the release said.
Booker then forced the clerk into a small room at the back of the station and propped a garbage can against the door to prevent him from getting out, the release said.
All three men wore masks; the third suspect has not been identified. The clerk was not seriously injured, authorities said.
State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said the sentence ensures the men “will spend a significant amount of time behind bars where (they) will be unable to again terrorize an innocent man just trying to make a living.”

kudos to dupage county.
hey dudes when you get out next time commit the armed robberies in crooked county
kimesha will give you probation and tommy ( mr 19th ward) dart will throw you a pizza party.

Goofioretti must be exposed for being a shill for Cabrini Kim and any cop who supports him is giving a vote to cop hater Kim foxx. Goofioretti is only running to raise money with no chance of winning like he has done before. He must be stopped.

The minute police gave up on Broken Windows policing things got worse. Everywhere that the program has been dropped has seen steady rises in all categories of crime. De-policing is a scourge, but it is what the politicians and the public wants.

A clip is a clip man. Doesn't have to be a 8 round Garand clip. Everything after that has been called a clip too or a mag. Now the word "Magazine", Magazines are for reading. The only magazines we had in the army were Playboy , Penthouse, and Hustler.

Toni isn't racist, as shown by living in integrated Hyde Park. She is anti-Republican, which is normal Democratic behavior.
