Another Tool Gone

And by tool, we don't mean the current crop of exempts. We mean an actual tool that worked occasionally in predicting crime:
  • After 10 years, the Chicago Police Department has decommissioned an enormous database that, ostensibly, used analytics in an effort to predict which people are most likely to be involved in shootings — as either the shooter or the victim.

The “Strategic Subject List” was quietly put out to pasture in November, according to the Office of the Inspector General, which had raised several issues regarding the program’s efficacy.

CPD used the list to identify which prior arrestees would be most likely to carry out shootings, or be victims of shootings — referred to as being a “party to violence.”

The list also was used to target gang members and their associates through information gathering, analysis and social network mapping, according to the office of Inspector General Joe Ferguson.
Not to mention (as we did years ago) that police don't usually single out people/folks for crimes they "might" commit at a later date. Sure, the database pointed out people with a propensity for committing violent crime or being subjected to violent crimes. But any decent street copper with a knowledge of their Beat/District/Area could tell you the exact same thing....and for a lot less money.

But any database that points out certain uncomfortable facts is unwelcome in the new "progressive" Chicago.

BUT when everybody else is gathering info to keep this City safe its open to the public and picked apart with weak arguments.

Hey why not get rid of contact cards too isnt that data?

Who needs a Strategic Subject List? Years ago when the School Patrol Unit was still going we used to get the Detective Division 24 hour Reports. All of the shootings which occurred the previous day or weekend would be included. When a student was the victim it almost became a running joke to see if the assigned officers could guess who the victim was.
You'd be surprised how often they would be right. But what was even more surprising was that who they thought might be the victim turned out to be the wanted offender. So you see, you could have a school with a thousand students and when a shooting occurred on a weekend the police assigned to the school very often were able to identify both the victim and offender with no further information other than something happened.

The List may not have been always updated and reviewed as needed but that most likely was do incompetent unit supervisors lacking any approved procedures and lack of supervisory management skills most likely due to clout or merit. The List was left open to scrutiny and allowed to be used as a political tool by the dumb slugs managing the system. It was they that allowed the List to be used as a target for the IG and other anti police interests. Blame the drunken and disgraced former Superintendent Ed Johnson (no we didn't forget about your ugly actions Ed) and his Staff of womanizing Mutts. No one pushed hard to save the system by correcting inaccuracies and/or upgrading the system. No management wouldn't want to that. Better to trash the entire system. Why wouldn't you want to upgrade a potential useful system that would benefit all concerned.

So the List is thrown out. Too bad we lost the tool. Too bad for the Community. As they will pay for the loss of the List with more of their blood and family treasure. Dude, Inc. will continue to ply their murderous rampage on their own Community members. The Communities blood will once again be on the Imps hands. She champions these types of reforms at the cost to her Community.

...see this is how it works. They don’t want police to have data because that’s an “invasion of privacy” & implicitly racist, but then politicians want more police service to high crime areas pulling from other areas of the city where crime is down (until of course you’ve exposed those areas to more crime by giving them less police service), but then they don’t actually want you to catch someone that’s just committed a crime because likely you are catching someone that’s of color and that’s racist (doesn’t matter if the victim told you the crime was committed by a person of color &/or that the victim is just as likely to be a person of color). Then they want access to everything & anything the police department has and for us to keep it forever for whenever they decide on a whim it’s of use for them to prove that all the problems are caused by either not enough policing or too much policing. Got it!

Especially if the offender is black or brown. Don't want to be labeled a racist so just don't call. Call VOLUME in 16 is very low. If you pay attention police are allocated by call volume. Unfortunately, the assholes causing most of our crime are also the same people that call the police for any and every thing: baby mama drama, my 8 year old won't go to school, my old man is drunk I want him out. The Osendaro brothers were dragged out of scattered site property in handcuffs; have they been permitted to remain? Every "person of contact" returns to his subsidized accommodations after a long day of taunting the police. -one point for being in public housing
-one point for being a minority
-one point for being male
-one point for exposure to illegal drugs and guns
-one point for living in gang territory
-one point for having a close relative in a gang
-one point for having a close relative in jail or died of gang violence

10 points = nearly certain to be a future criminal!

But as you pointed out: "decent street copper with a knowledge of their Beat/District/Area could tell you the exact same thing"

Just read this one on CBW Chicago, Loop phone snatcher caught and held by several citizens. And though the phone snatching was even captured on video by a CPD surveillance camera outside City Hall, prosecutors still charged Young with felony theft and misdemeanor theft of lost or mislaid property. Lost or mislaid property when it's forcibly taken from the hand of the owner of the phone. Judge John Lyke released Young on his own recognizance and ordered him to go on electronic monitoring while awaiting trial". And we all know how well electronic monitoring works in Crook County. That has to be a bit frustrating to the victim and those that captured the scumbag. But then you have to wonder who they voted for and if they will support the same people that have made it Catch and Release Central.

So you see it doesn't really even matter, data or no data, catch or don't catch, when you have Foxx, Dart, Groot and a host of other progressive reprobates in power that point their fingers everywhere but at the people doing the crimes. Add to that the idiot voters that continue to vote with their head firmly planted in their own rear end. Just pass out the pot, it will all be fine. Just keep looking down at your phone as you walk the streets and believe everything the MSM tells you, oh mindless sheep.

Wait, is it bad that it’s gone because it was a useful tool, or is it a good thing that it’s gone because it was a needless expense that only did the same thing as the cops knowing their beats?

"After 10 years, the Chicago Police Department has decommissioned an enormous database that, ostensibly, used analytics in an effort to predict which people are most likely to be involved in shootings — as either the shooter or the victim."

Um, I can tell you who and where......hire me.

Stupidest program I've ever seen. Had to participate in a number of these interventions. What a joke.

EW ,EJ gone both should be charged .
Superintendent, Mayor Lightfoot both want to end Merit promotions . Here’s a start , dump every command staff member that received a Merit Promotion. This will bring back moral . Promotions from all ranks to exempt, pay them exempt salary , have them sign off that pension will be based on their current rank . You have qualified police officers sin every rank . Try it , you’ll help solve pension issues.
Next,, require a Passing score of 70% to participate in part two of Sergeants exam . Have police 🚔 fixers write responses to questions before reading them into a tape recorder . Give officers a copy of their written answers . This will prevent the screw ups by cfd.
Good luck and let’s get some new Sergeants that actually deserve a promise , studied hard and were prepared.

Its such a shame that The City will waste tax payers dollars to have P.O.'s sit in an area and hope that a gangbanger doesn't get shot all so that the numbers don't go up. I went to a CAPS meeting in 016 for Beats 1931-1932 and Alderman Sposato was there and a citizen again asked why isn't 16 getting more police officers? Well, Sposato goes on to say, and I quote " There are NOT enough 911 calls to support more manpower". Really Sposato? Take a look at the shit going on in 16 and you might think otherwise. You keep up this attitude and YOU might be looking for a new job!

People do need to call when they see or hear something. Too many people don't want to "bother" the police with something relatively small. But those small things are like cancer cells. They take hold, become commonplace, and grow in number and severity.

So call.

The lost/mislaid charge was for other property found on him where they don't have a report or victim available yet.

Ethics training? Was at roll call yesterday Lt tells everyone to do ethics if it hasn't been completed. I go check my training and notice that there are 2 types of ethics modules aldermen and everyone else. I also noticed that the aldermen don't have a module for 2019. We're they exempt from the ethics training? Interesting if they were, not that they would abide by ethics guidelines and rules.
