Out of Weed

  • The supply issues plaguing the rollout of Illinois’ recreational cannabis program will continue to be a pervasive problem for months or even up to a year, experts say.

The state’s 21 cultivation centers simply don’t have enough product to supply the few dozen dispensaries, many of which have been forced to set buying limits and even shut down sales to recreational customers in the wake of legalization.

Despite selling nearly $11 million worth of recreational weed in the first five days of legal weed, a half-dozen dispensaries in Chicago did no recreational sales Monday.
You know who wasn't out of weed after the weekend?

No, not Rahm's son's "college counselor."

Your street corner dealers. Their supply chain seems to be running along without a hitch, proving once again the market will survive government interference. In fact, once the novelty wears off of waiting in line for six-to-eight hours and paying sixty-to-eighty bucks a quarter-ounce [corrected] with another twenty-five in taxes, we're betting on the street guys surviving. And expanding.

65 an ounce? No, more like a couple G's (at low end) an ounce if its 65 bucks a gram before taxes. 28 grams in an ounce. An ounce of good stuff on the street can be found for 250ish. That's good stuff. The sales will plummet quickly and millions in a week will turn into a million every six months. People will go broke quick with uncle JB and his crew. unfortunately the state and city has already spent the revenue predictions (like prickwrinkles soda tax) and the state and city will find themselves in a bigger hole than before. But hey, make sure you vote democrat in 2020.

This is precisely how the illegal shops will simply dwarf the over-regulated, over-taxed 'legal' shops.

Scams on you. Demofuck sez, " If we legalize, taxpayers get mo money". {remember how the lottery was gunna fund the superfantastic educational system? }

Local law enforcement lives are endanger. First, transporting pot across state lines is a federal felony. Second, monetary transactions of schedule 1 dope transfers through the largely federally regulated banking system is a federal felony of money laundering.

Look here: https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/deputies-seized-233-tons-of-marijuana-from-illegal-grows-in-hemet-in-2019/2285816/

Watch for a draconian demand for enforcement of illegal weed dealing laws.

CPD “teams” of all sorts, esp. tact, will be ordered to put the competition out of business.

Remember, legalized weed serves three purposes:

1.) Enriches the insiders who run the business.
2.) Makes your kid stupid and controllable......Especially if he/she is subjected to CPS/CTU communist brainwashing.
3.) Decriminalizes Dude to a large extent........Which makes him eligible for patronage jobs and keeps him stupid and controllable.

Medical marijuana patients, many with serious issues are being rationed and cut off so that Lori and the rest of the tax hungry dummycrats can provide the permanent victim class, bearded hipster douches, and the dope heads in Lakeview while cancer patients and those with MS and AlS and vets with a variety of diseases and PTSD suffer. Stop selling recreational pot and only sell to medical patients until these tax hungry, incompetent lunatics can get their shit together.

How are we supposed to tell the “good” legal cannabis from the “bad” illegal type? Is there a tax stamp on each baggie, like the stamps on liquor? If we catch someone on the street with a big “bag-o-weed”, scales and baggies, how are we to prove that they are engaged in illegal sales and not just planning to “gift” all their friends with a carefully measured equal amount of “recreational” pot?

Until these (and many other) questions are answered by “the powers that be” (whoever they are), I’ve lost my ability to see or smell marijuana.

I have had the "card" for a few years. I genuinely appreciate regulated grow operations, because of reliable quality. It is extremely beneficial that the product is free of "special chemicals" that cartels use in their free range grow ops.

Yeah there are going to be people who don't care what's used on the weed, but having a highly compromised immune system, I don't hate the strict grow regulations, I appreciate them.

The grow regulations are holding back the product availability now. But it won't always be so. It could even open up a whole new income for downstate farms and bring all new meaning to "farm to table".

Give it time, this could be a good thing for Illinois as a whole.

Novelty of “legal pot” for sale will loose it’s allure.
Excessive pricing and taxes will dwindle sales.

Certain people cannot cut the mustard and cry about it. Much like connected people on CPD, they think they "earned" their position because they have clout, they would never make it in the private sector.

CAPS came to 007th district roll call trying to collect money for a raffle to pay for PO TF’s lawyer fees. Complete joke of the CAPS unit in 007 trying to collect money for this guys crime that resulted in someone’s death. Not many appeared to donate fortunately. Wonder if CAPS will eventually try to collect money for the former SUPT.’s lawyer fees.
You have to be kidding. There is mo way we should be paying for his stupidity. Look at the article. Just before the crash he had the gas pedal to the floor. Save your money to wire to him in prison because that is where he is going.

There are some new additions at O'Hare and Midway Airports. They now have dedicated boxes where you can dump your weed before getting on a flight! But do not use them! Those bastards are being slick. They will sell your weed and you get nothing! Look for me at Midway and my brother at O'Hare. We each will be wearing a sandwich sign that reads "I'll Buy Your Weed! Don't Throw It Away! I'll Weigh It And Give You 40% On The Dollar! It's Better Than Throwing It Away!" Turn your weed into cash!

Crain's Chicago Business
GREG HINZ ON POLITICS
January 07, 2020 04:26 PM UPDATED 5 HOURS AGO
Foxx calls in big legal heat to help with Smollett probe
The embattled state's attorney retains ex-top judge Ruben Castillo and noted D.C. attorney Michael Bromwich to help her through Dan Webb's probe of how the Jussie Smollett case went down.
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx has called in some heavy legal reinforcements to help her deal with the continuing probe of how she and her office charged and then dropped charges against TV star Jussie Smollett over an allegedly faked downtown attack.

Retained to represent Foxx’s office is the Chicago office of Akerman LLP and specifically litigation partner Ruben Castillo, who joined the law firm this fall after stepping down as chief judge of the federal court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Hired by Foxx personally is prominent Washington D.C. attorney Michael Bromwich, a spokesman for Foxx’s campaign confirmed. Bromwich is a former inspector general for the U.S. Department of Justice but probably is best known for representing witness Christine Blasey Ford in U.S. Senate hearings on the confirmation of then U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The high-level hirings are an indication of just how much is at stake in the probe of the Smollett matter by Dan Webb, who was appointed a special prosecutor last year. It joins in the same case Castillo, whose biography on the Akerman web site says his practice will focus on “corporate investigations (and) white-collar criminal defense,” and Webb, for whom Castillo once worked when Webb was U.S. Attorney here.

In a phone interview, Castillo said a team headed by him was retained in October and, as per Foxx’s direction, is “fully cooperating” with Webb, the Winston & Strawn co-executive chairman who is a former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and served as the Special Counsel in the Iran-contra affair back in the '80s. Webb “has kept us busy” with requests for documents that other sources say run into the tens of thousands, but has not indicated where his review is going or when it will conclude, Castillo said.

“I don’t see that I’m defending” the office, Castillo said. “I see myself as assisting.” But there are no guarantees where the case will end up, he conceded.

Foxx spokeswoman Aviva Bowen said is “not uncommon” for the office to retain outside counsel, especially in complex civil cases. She said Akerman has not yet been paid anything, and did not immediately know its pay rate.

Castillo said the figure is “not anywhere near my usual rate”—believed to be in the hundreds of dollars an hour—but declined to provide a specific figure. Taxpayers will be footing the bill for Castillo's services.Bromwich was not immediately available for comment.
The Smollett case has stirred considerable controversy ever since the “Empire” actor reported that he’d been accosted near his River East hotel by mask-wearing men who shouted racist and homophobic slurs at him and declared he was in “MAGA country,” a reference to President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan.

At the prompting of police, Foxx’s office initially filed felony charges against him, alleging that he faked the matter and paid his attackers in a publicity stunt. But Foxx’s office later dropped the charges against Smollett after he agreed to forfeit his bail, suggesting there were difficulties with the case.

Webb has given no indication whether he will announce his decision in the case before or after the March Democratic primary, in which Foxx faces three opponents.

Why is this cash only?

Why would any form of tax revenue such as a hefty $25 tax on a $60 sale be in the best interest of the public? Oh wait. Transparency. Sure.

Nothing about these weed operations are in the best interests of Chicago. These morons can't even stock the inventory without a bureaucratic machine clusterfuck.

Only in and for the interests of the skim. Very Chicago. Dysfunction junction.

Looking at the receipts you posted, the crappiest ditch weed is going for $18.25 PER GRAM. ($516.48 per oz)
The spendy shit is $270 per gram which works out to $7641 per oz (Yeah, you read that right - over SEVEN AND A HALF GRAND)

Man, there are a lot of anti-liberals on here who really want the government to go back to limiting the freedom of chicagoans. I agree that it might not be a huge tax win, but the idea that it’s going to be a win for dealers is silly. Especially while commenting on an article about how the demand fit legal is so high

Inventory is low because growers haven’t been licensed yet (and plants take time to grow)

For those who don’t want to pay the absurd rates, we can grow our own.

This directly targets a major gang revenue stream.

Chill, it’ll be ok

Limiting the freedoms of Chicagoans, what a crock. You mean the freedom to shoplift at will, ignore any and all traffic laws, reside in the city illegally, pay for water and natural gas. Are those the freedoms my friend at 12:47 is referring To? If so yes want too abolisih those freedoms ASAP.
I understand your one of those fools that believe that weed is not a gateway drug. Will be fun to talk in about 5 years from know when all the problems of legal weed have come home to roost. Pay attention to what has happened too people in CO with their weed freedoms.

My weed dealer is already adapting to the new laws. Last month, he asked me if I was into coke as well as weed (I'm not). He's texted me twice to ask if I want any more weed; usually it's me asking him if he's available. And he's lowered his prices...a $60 eighth is now $50, a $100 quarter is now $90. I'll probably just keep buying from him even though my neighborhood has a dispensary.

Sorry Gov Fat-Fuck but I'll play it safe, buy once from the legal weed store and keep the container. After that I'll buy from the street tax free and cheaper. How will you know if the weed in the container is legal or illegal?
Better yet, I'll grow my own in the back yard garden this summer.

You think it will huh? This is mismanaged Chicago, Cook County with Tubby ToiletSeat at the helm in Springfield. And you really don't think people with regular suppliers won't continue on using them instead of paying higher prices and being taxed on top of it? New buyers won't ask friends if they have a weed source and save some money over the taxed stuff. But you "chill" awesome dude, once baked you won't even feel Groot in your pockets. Let's talk in 10 years with regard to what recreational pot will do to the country. Illinois hasn't learned a thing from the mistakes of other states but they can only see green, already spending lofty tax estimates. The most corrupt state in the country, but it will all be okay. Have faith in the political machine, it's the Chicago Way, y'all.

Anyone buying legal flower in IL is either a fool or so wealthy that getting screwed out of $500 per oz is just pocket change to them. Rent a gas sipper and head to Denver. Same high-test is about $200 per oz. No lines and plenty of selection. Just be sure to use all turn signals and cruise control after leaving CO. And for God's sake, don't open your containers and don't smoke in your car.

Well, and article in WGN's news today talks about the quagmire of Pot and Guns, FOID Cards, CCL, and Firearm Purchases.

According to the state, with the first two since those are state issued, no problemo, but not so with purchasing a firearm via ATF background check.

It further states hat Illinois does not collect or share personal information. Is that so? Are legal weed customers having their Driver's Licenses swiped-scanned when making a "legal" purchase at a Dispensary? If they are, then I'd say they do indeed have your personal information.
