Police Non Shooting
011 had four people shot in numerous incidents Saturday. Luckily there wasn't one in the station itself:
- A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he pointed a BB gun at officers inside a Lawndale police station, according to police.
About 8 a.m., the man walked into the Harrison District police station at 3151 W. Harrison St., and approached the front desk, Chicago police said.
While “voicing his disdain for law enforcement,” the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers inside the station, police said. After a short struggle, during which the man bit an officer, he taken into custody and another weapon was found on him.
Both guns were later determined to be BB guns, police said.
We're told via e-mail that the desk was manned by two civilians, one officer and a sergeant. This lends further heft to the argument that station lobbies in the CPD ought not be "welcoming" but rather "secure" such as one regularly sees in suburban departments. Not homeless encampments either, but places to conduct police business, elevated above the public, secured with bullet-proof glass and ballistic drywall.
This could have turned out very badly had the guns been real. Was it a suicide by cop attempt like people are asking about the police shooting down south today?

It’s about damm time the city secure our police stations just like nearly every station in America does. No one should ever be able to walk right in. All business should be conducted through a window just like the suburbs do. This is shameful but typical.
The 11th District station is in the Garfield Park neighborhood, NOT the Lawndale neighborhood.
These assholes are really emboldened. Too bad City Hall doesn’t experience the same level community involvement.
Meh.. send the BB gun to Berwyn lock up so a detainee and put it up his ass... everyone on the job knows that is where that gun was tucked
I fully agree about securing the stations. It’s not a public library, it’s a police station. And perhaps civilians at the desk isn’t the best idea.
However, just because 2 POs are “assigned” to the desk, have you ever seen the a actual desk? At any given time there are anywhere between 4-10 cops at the desk. Milking around, dropping off tickets, talking to a pretty desk girl, getting an inventory approved, etc. the station desk in 011 might only have 2 cops on the sheets, but it looks more like a roll call at some times.
And I can’t second guess because I wasn’t there, but typically this type of situation ends up with a shithead getting aerated.
I’m happy to see it was noted that there were “numerous pointing incidents,” as if that did the job, but come on. I know we have gone fetal, but you can’t be fetal when protecting your life and the lives of your fellow officers against an invasion/attack in the station.
A “pointing incident” is great, but as the old saying goes.....”sometimes you just have to finger-fuck the bang-switch.”
I regret to say it, but in allowing that mutt to take over the press conference the other day in 025 without consequence, and this incident in 011 to occur without the appropriate consequences, people will just continue to get more and more bold. People act with impunity because nothing happens. Walk into a police station, threaten cops, waive a gun around, bite a cop, and only get arrested. Probably get bonded out and take a plea.
At some point, we gotta be the police for fucks sake. There ain’t much that’s worth it, but some things need to be fought for.
I know the current climate sucks, and I’ve been through the ringer a few times in my career, but I can always hang my head high knowing that I did the right thing and fought for what I believed in. I don’t think I could sleep well at night knowing that when action needed to be taken, I didn’t step up to the plate.
Let’s pay attention and not be afraid to get in the game as needed boys and girls.
The 10th District is in North Lawndale, its northern boundary is Arthington and Taylor Sts. 011 at 3151 W. Harrison St. is in Garfield Park.
011 Front Desk security has always been Karate Man's job...Did he retire? This took a lot of balls knowing they tried to hit the station with a rocket launcher; because you never know who the competition is! Recover well officer, but slowly. Well done.
Not armchair QBing but this scenario would’ve likely had a VERY different ending if dude came in when GP was holding that desk down.
Thank God no officers were hurt worse than “puncher wounds” from the rabid animal biting the one PO.
Not the first incident of someone walking in with a firearm. About 10 years ago dude came in with an M 15 or an AK, I can’t quite remember. Another lucky bastard that was disarmed by now retired sergeant Jerry Murphy instead of justifiably meeting his maker. And then you had crazy retard 6’ 4” 300 pound Bernard jumping the desk, battering officers and destroying hard drives and computer monitors.
Maybe Groot will come up with the coin to secure these desks once and for all before a cop gets killed??
Amazing that squid brain wasn't immediately aerated. Lets see what happens to him in kimmie's kangaroo court.

Groot don’t care if a cop gets murdered, maimed, crippled, beheaded, or anything tortuous the communist community can conjure up from its IQ which the federal government has rated at less than 65 points
Suicide by cop. Classic Fail.
Proof that the city does not care about your safety, you will just be collateral damage.

Her goal is to eliminate police, hence the terrible bathrooms/environments,, days off cancellations, bad faith contract non-resolution, dweebie la interim leader, and kissy face with hollyweird demon rats. She won't ever protect or respect a LEO. God forbid any of you are injured and she visits your hospital room. Don't let her, or her other satsnic minions near you or your families. She hates police. Never forget it. Your life depends on it.
F O P Please review the lawsuit filed against McDonalds for their workplace placing employees at unnecessary risk do to bad design
Riverside, McCook, Lyons, Cicero, ect.. are all police lobbies built like fortresses.
30 minutes prior to that incident a M/1 walked into 011 from the side door and made it upstairs to the detective floor.
He was rolling the dice hoping for a ghetto lottery payout for either him or his moms
You have to say that the Police stations have to be secured to protect the citizens, if you want to get anything done! ;)

Yeah, he would shit talk him on the blog.
The former station security was Karate Dan...and could be found directing traffic on California and Harrison. Poor toothless Dan couldn't take all the changes, and sadly left Shitcago for Atlanta.

100% yes!
I'm all for fetal, but when it comes to a fight, It's not time for it! I'm afraid guys are going to get hurt taking the wrong approach to being a potted plant.
This is obviously becoming a problem psychologically (I took a class in high school). The "don't do shit," is carrying over, perhaps subconsciously. Mentally, deep inside that brain of ours, its probably hard to just turn it on after being off for so long.
I pray for my Brothers (take it easy always aggrieved, this is a term of endearment for all Police), I can only see less than desirable future outcomes.
The most important thing is ALWAYS to protect yourself and your partner.
You just cant win out here.
Secure lobbies, that’s crazy talk!
Beck get off your fat and tanned ass. Demand that the silly little girl running the city into the ground and demand she spend some of that dope tax money on physical barriers and protect officers working the Desk at our Police Stations. Suburban Departments have these physical protection measures. They are prudent and necessary. But not in Chicago. This City Administration does not care a whit about officer safety. Groot is extracting retribution, punishment and misery on the Police Department as payback for perceived problems in reality caused by the babbling idiot Daly and corrupt Rahm.
Under Groot, Dude, Inc. is becoming more bold and aggressive in their level of violence against the police and the Community. Before you leave this lawless city you may be in front of the media explaining why you did little to protect your officers. Beck you are in the snake pit. Lori is the Queen Viper slowly slithering and wrapping herself around you. Speak up and speak out. Officer safety is paramount.
"secured with bullet-proof glass and ballistic drywall"
Ha! Both of those cost money. No room in the city budget for such luxuries sadly.
However if the Chicago Teachers Union asks for classrooms with bullet proof drywall then that wish might be granted.
I am both pleased and confused that the firearms were not real. Is this the first bozo in the whole of the city who could not acquire an actual firearm? Weird...
Glad this ended as good as it could have.
Didn’t the old districts originally have some sort of see thru separator when built, but that was eventually taken out?
Quote:
"elevated above the public, secured with bullet-proof glass and ballistic drywall."
Are you high as a satellite now that weed is legal in 2020?
What you suggest COSTS LOTS OF MONEY! How in the hell is the city going to be able to pay the salaries of John Arena (now retired prematurely, sadly) and all those like him hired as of recent?
If money is wasted on ballistic drywall and secure police stations, the crony crew might not have such a large pie to stick their fingers and thumbs into down at 121 N. LaSalle Street! Don't be rash and short sighted.

Someone is showing their age and institutional knowledge.
Angelo Roberts was involved. This story is like something out of the movies. A rocket attack on a police station.

City Hall doesn't give a sh*t about your safety. It's cheaper to bury a cop than to spend money securing stations and parking lots.
Lock the doors , have a bullet proof waiting room , Citizens can be buzzed in one at at time .
Superintendent Beck , please end the policy of Police Facilities being used as a homeless shelter , it’s only a matter of time before something bad happens .
Did he get the ass wooping he deserved like in the old Fillmore days
If he’s a “community member”, Kimmie Foxx will have him back out on the street in no time. If he wants to get killed, he’ll have better luck jumping in front of a train.
Chicago is a friendly city and years back nobody would try to walk into a police station to hurt the police but our stations need to be secured with glass closures like the burbs. We spend useless money on other bullshit city projects like fireworks and parades but anything for the police is a no go.
Have you seen the new layout of the desk? The idiots who planned and remodeled (what a joke) the front desk, moved it to within 5 feet of the doors!! At least the way it was before, people had to walk 20 feet to get to the desk. Now they walk in and are right in your face! Whoever was responsible for this should be drawn and quartered!!
Every business in the ghetto is more secure than any of our District desks.
Jerry Murphy. Good man
similar situation occurred in 025 a couple of months ago.
The union should be demanding that all lobbies be secured before an officer or civilian gets seriously hurt or killed
GP would have sent this piece of excrement straight to his maker. He is missed in the hallowed halls of the fighting 011. A solid dude, knowledgable, and quite witty. Can I get you a summer shandy pal?
You can’t walk into the mayors office but any shit wad can walk into a police station.♠️
About two hours before this incident a man wandered into the station and made it up to the second floor. The desk ran his name and he had a warrant.

Talk to Bonny Amato. She is the one that "approved" the desk after being told by numerous people from 011 that it was too close to the front door and not raised high enough above the thugs to give a tactical advantage. Also the contractors wound up installing 2 layers of Kevlar behind the drywall at the desk after a single piece was tested in the range and was easily penetrated by a 9mm.
Just like in banks, there should be a bullet proof partician in the police station lobby
Damn, I trained in Englewood and stayed for 7 years. We had an old desk guy that (Gene Rainey) got shot while working the desk!! I believe he lost an eye in the incident. Great guy!!!
014 District desk or lobby is a terrible design. Behind the desk area is the sergeants room and the review room. The sergeants room has no rear door,
the review room has a side door. The sergeants room is a death trap. The desk area is surrounded by a long counter, were anyone can enter at the sides. A very dangerous design. There are no cameras in the front lobby. The floor area of the desk should be higher than the lobby floors but it's not.
Our police station lobbies and desk areas are not secured and very dangerous if a real shooting incident occurs.
Whatever construction company whoever builds the police stations doesn't know shit about officers safety and security and the planning of a station lobby and desk area.

Ghost of Kenny Janulitis (He ain't dead, really!) 1ST DISTRICT!....

Of the CPD. He told me he was within a microsecond of peep ventilation about 20 years ago.
I'm sure you will find the design intentional, as most of these design decisions are made by the same eggheads that want to libraries above police station, because of reasons. They be fuck'n wich cha. Find a way to use it to your advantage or die trying.
Don't recall how the incident in the old 007 happened but I do know a fucker walked in and shot Officer Rainey. If I am not mistaken he lost an eye and the asshole went to hell.
To the idiot 1 year wonders in 018 who think stations like 024 have bullet proof glass at the desk, your wrong. The glass is great for selfies though.
