Five Whole Days (UPDATED)

  • A Logan Square cannabis dispensary shop was burglarized early Monday, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Just after 8 a.m., Chicago police responded to a report of a burglary that had taken place in the 2800 block of West Fullerton Avenue, which is where MOCA Modern Cannabis is located, while the business was closed. The break-in started in the side door, possibly with a person using a key card, and the person then took off with cash from the shop, according to police.

None of the merchandise inside was taken during the burglary, and police didn’t say how much money was missing. No one was in custody as of Monday afternoon.
Key card? That makes it "not a burglary" but a "theft from building" according to the downgrading matrix.

Once the money starts stacking up in these places (you can't pay by check or credit/debit card) and someone figures out the supply schedules (trucked in from known locations) then we'll see how seriously the gangs/cartels are taking this when they try to knock over an armored car full of cash/weed.

UPDATE: A couple of people who seem to know say the score was $200,000 in untraceable cash. When word gets out.....

Guess the "robbers" had all the product they needed. Just after cash that was stolen from " their" corner market. Only the first of many security problems for new legal weed.

All cash business, what could go Wrong? How have all the other states dealt with this Problem? Or is it only Illinois home of criminal sanctuary city Chicago that is having this issue? It will get worse once the gangs figure out how to intercept those cash Laden customers before they get to the store locations.

does anyone remember when the lying politicians passed the cannabis laws there was supposed to be a security guard on the premises 24/7. Then after passing they changed (reneged) the law.

Why does 019 district assign a special beat to protect the dispensary on Clark Street on all shifts. So not only are drugs perfectly acceptable and loved now, but now we give them free police protection every single day. Gosh, the tax-payers of Lakeview don't need protection from burglaries and robberies, but you can find plenty of cops in front of the weed store giving them governmental free police protection. What a world we have become, how twisted, that the media doesn't expose it, nor do they care. CPD is going down the tubes just like the rest of this corrupt city.

Well now, I would say if a key card was used to get in, who was
issued that card. I guess your security system is flawed. Time to pay for 24 hour physical security. Is thus one of Mike Chasens' spots?

In the rest of Illinois, a burglary occurs when a person enters a building to commit a theft, or another felony. But this is Crooked County, where our State's Attorney commits Official Misconduct (also a felony), so. And of it was a key card entry, the dispensary will know which employee did it (or was part of the crew who did it).

When Controlled Substances are removed from a
Terminal Distributor (retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy,
dispensing clinic, wholesale distributor) either by direct
theft (robbery), burglary, or employee diversion, an incident
form must be completed and submitted to the DEA to account
for the names of the drugs, strength, dosage form, and
quantity stolen/missing, and approx. wholesale/retail value.

I can just picture the new loss reports (if they exist at all):
Wowie-Zowie, 8 X One Ounce (30 Gm. Units)
Myan-Hawaiian, 1 Kg. (Bulk Pak; for retail division)
*******
You get the idea. Theft or diversion of a Class I Substance
is a paperwork headache.
Can these 'Dispensaries' obtain insurance on their inventories?
After a late 70s retail pharmacy robbery, I was told that "cash"
cannot be insured.
People think these things are problem-free gold mines when
in fact they are dangerous operations: business wise, tax
wise and accounting and paperwork wise.

Marijuana is the States problem not the Federal Government. There is no legal Marijuana for the Fed so no controlled substance DEA number, no bank, no credit card, no FDA regulation, no nothing, no nada!

Business in maryjane are on their own from money to protection and screening of product.

Business beware, buyer beware.

As far as crime Chicago has the built in infrastructure of corrupt criminality from bosses to judges to States Attorney. Out West Colorado, criminal infrastructure is not as sophisticated as ChiChalkie!

$200K in untraceable cash! Hell, this is way better than a bank robbery. And they knew it.
What might you get when robbing a bank, a few G's? And no gun either, plus risk of being shot.

No dope, but to hell with the dope, which would you take? Cash is a lot easier to carry.

This one bucks the tide of "doper common sense", like an old saying which once said "dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope"! LOL

Oh well, sucks to be them I guess.

Yeah. Marked Bills. You record the serial numbers of the bills and store the list separate from the cash. If the cash vanishes, you report the list of numbers to the "insert agency here' and they send the list to area banks

Now. Thats the theory.

So you've either never seen a damn cop show..or you're not a LEO. Cause they did the Marked Money bit in one of the last Batman movies. And I seem to recall that Narc Units use marked/traceable cash for buys.

There is a product on the market that can be used for instant Drug Testing for Marijuana (THC) from Amazon (no surprise there right?)

12 pack box: $9.46 per box + tax

Easy@home

Here's the problem, for those of you that have never toked.

First use or Regular user...

Urine tests can detect marijuana in the urine for approximately 3–30 days after use.
Saliva tests can detect marijuana for approximately 24 hours after use. Some saliva tests have detected marijuana for up to 72 hours.
Hair tests are the most sensitive tests, detecting THC for up to 90 days after use. However, these tests are testing the oil in skin that transfers to hair, and so they may occasionally show a false positive. A person who comes into contact with a THC user could, theoretically, test positive on a hair test.
Blood tests can only detect THC for 3–4 hours.

You have to be able to "reasonably articulate your suspicion' that the vehicle operator is in fact intoxicated with THC products.

Smelled like pot isn't going to b good enough anymore
