Conway and the NRA
Some readers took issue with our encouragement to pull a dem ballot for the primary given Conway's anti-NRA statements. We are aware of the statements and grant them little or no credence for the following reasons:
- Of course he's going to tailor his message. Every politician does it to some extent. If this gets him in the door to legitimately challenge Foxxx, we'll put up with his pandering for now because...
- As Cook County States Attorney, how much influence does he actually have against the NRA? We'll give you a hint - zero. Crimesha should be prosecuting actual criminals and enforcing the laws on the books, not letting jagoffs go and creating law out of thin air.
- Conway is correct in this - the office needs to prosecute criminals, not play social justice warrior.
As for the anti-Trump stuff, so what? He's one of thousands of yippy dogs nipping at the coattails of the more powerful. If it gets him credibility with the voters to displace Foxxx, who cares?

I’ve heard them speak. More has more felony trial experience and would be a much better State’s Attorney than any in the field. A shame we have to cut ourselves short to endorse a faker like Conway to beat a sham like Foxx.

I caught a Kimmie Fox commercial, and she stated and " I stood up against the NRA" and "I sued Donald Trump." Ok, and what exactly did you recieve in compensation. You sure did not win any thing. Your constituents are still getting there hands on guns, shooting, causing property damage, killing, and proving the continuing need for the expansion of Shotspotter. How about you start doing the Job you were elected to do in Cook County.

Across the country, several more like him (his ideologies, not his race) are running and gaining traction.
Sadly, Sanders can win, that’s why it’s important to vote for the person who would have the least effect on your life. Hate on Bloomberg all you want for what he’s said about the NRA, but the fact of the matter is he knew what the answer to a crime problem was. The same can be said to Klobuchar. If either were to beat Trump, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Bernie supporters are so far out of whack that they have said they won’t vote for “stop and frisk” Mike or Amy “KloboCOP.”
You don’t want to take a chance on giving Sanders too many votes from a DELEGATE RICH state like Illinois. If he gets the nomination, he could win. Please don’t do it.

Agreed, but what is the solution? Maybe if Conway has a brain he will offer More the deputy job now, and ask her to pull out of the primary. Of course, the Prick-winklers would keep her on the ballot to dilute the anti-machine vote, so that's probably a non-starter.
Scc, don't take the bait from that hack liberal reporter from the patch. I remember doing analytic search years back on viewership. You had more total viewers than herald and patch which shocked me. This insignificant reporter is throwing race bait hoping you will respond and give him his 15 minutes.
Every time I hear a politician say "I'm standing up against and fighting the NRA", I ask myself who they are standing up against and fighting? The NRA is made up of "Law abiding Citizens" who care about the second amendment. SO the politician is standing up against and fighting "Law abiding Citizens". Does that seem right? In 24 years of policing the west side, I have never once even heard of an NRA member shooting up the west side or anywhere else. NOT ONCE!

The recent mayoral election should be ample proof that, yes, at least in the initial round the opposition has to unite around somebody or they'll all just beat each other up into irrelevance.
Remember, we're now living in Bizarro World where everything is backwards. In a primary election, we no longer vote for the candidate we want, we vote for the least worst candidate among those we DON'T want.

Reading is a skill. He joined the Navy not the Air Force. He was deployed to the Middle East, including time in Afghanistan. He didn’t have to do this. He could have claimed bone spurs for example. Bob Fioretti has lost three times to Black women (e.g. Lori & Toni, Toni and Patricia Van Pelt).
Every time I hear that another national-level politician is endorsing Foxx (Sanders, Warren, Duckworth, etc) I throw up in my mouth. Did Jack O'Malley or Dick Devine or Anita Alvarez have presidential nominees endorsing them? No. Why? Because frankly no one outside of the CC area should give a sh*t about a county-level prosecutor. I understand that it is an elected position and thus carries with it some political BS and that we are big city. But how many people out there can name the elected prosecutor in Detroit or LA or Denver off the top of your head?
Instead of focusing on her actual job once she was elected (prosecuting crimes in CC and focusing on policies and laws that impact crime in CC), Foxx has used the CCSAO to market herself and create her own national brand. She is stepping on the backs of the career prosecutors who have dedicated their lives to that office and the victims of crime in CC to further her own career. The CC prosecutor should not be taking on Trump or the NRA. That's not her job. Her job is to take on the criminals waging war on our streets.
Definitely voting Bill Conway in the dem primary. He’s the only one who can beat Foxx.
