- In a stunning show of power, the Oakland Police Commission — a group of civilians — voted unanimously Thursday night to fire Oakland Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick without cause, an action that caught many city leaders by surprise.
The firing required approval from Mayor Libby Schaaf, who hired the chief three years ago. Moments after the commission’s vote, Schaaf phoned Kirkpatrick to inform her that she was out of the job.

This is exactly the type of commission that Groot promised was coming here, though now she's dragging her feet establishing it.

Kirkpatrick was one of the rare chiefs of police that had loyal support among the troops AND the residents of Oakland (and the police union there as well).
Say what you want about her, she is highly competent, and I would not be surprised if Mayor Lightfoot finds another role here for her, if Kirkpatrick wants it.
And go easy on the posts about her looks. We've got plenty of old, overweight slobs here in uniform who are male.

When you hear the progressives speak of this they always trot out the old refrain of the Irish that used to run most major city police departments. That was then and this is now. The CPD has been run down and tainted by corrupt patronage and identity politics. Why can't a black person command a police district in a mostly Hispanic area? Assign more black officers to a mostly Hispanic area. Mix up all of the police districts. maybe this will help to curb the corruption that goes on , the favoritism and the cronyism .

What did she do while in Chicago? Anything worthwhile at all? She did let OPD participate in an ICE raid, of course that got her into trouble. Suppose to have been human trafficking but even that isn't a good enough reason for the leftest extremists in Oakland. She's a lawyer, she should teach, a perfect place for her type.

Aurora is Granny with a different hair color and a slightly different wording on the resume.
Granny has a good scam going. Give credit where credit is due. She seems to get paid for doing nothing but leaving.

So many men on this job are slobs. That said when she was here she was fighting for the police against not only an old boys club but a black boys club and a bunch of incompetent useless women bosses who were threatened by her. They refused to work with her. She got fired in Oakland for not bowing to a civilian board who wants to have the power to fire police officers. We need her and more like her here so we have someone on our side. We could do much worse than her.
