Good Suggestion

Someone in the comments suggested that everyone be issued a tape measure so Officers can insure that social distancing is properly measured at ten feet.

We would go further and propose that a ten-foot-pole (purchased from "Vanecko Pole and Hardware Supply Company") be issued to members.

If you're called to the scene of a SURGE dispersal and some "merit" stupidvisor tells you to write tickets or arrest people/folks on the corner, would you trust them to know what ten feet actually is without measuring? After all, they have no idea what a passing score looks like - why trust them on feet and inches?

As for the tape measure or measurement device, the General Order on Equipment would have to be amended to authorize its carry.

And if an officer is required to carry one, the Department must issue the first one. Or have some available in the unit of assignment for sign out.

Great experience of terrible leadership, the first Surge meeting where DC EH attempted to answer the question of “if a group of people will not disperse, what do we do next?” By which he answered, for those taking notes, “Well, you do what you gotta do, you know, what you always do.” Needless to say that fell on deaf ears as all watched the man fumble and fluster over duties he wants others under him to perform and answer to later in court, Cook County’s or Federal. Didn’t inspire confidence to say the least and we all know that when things go sideways, he will look only to circle wagons around himself, unlike the bosses of the past, who likely took care of him. Sad...

Hmm too bad you can't use a 10ft piece of lumber on some of these noncompliant assholes. Social distancing at its finest.

Send the CFD, and have them use a monitor to clear off the corner. It is early enough in the year, that the wet, clammy, cold clothes will send them all home searching for dry clothing.

To stand in solidarity with Communist China, enough with the feet and inches. If we don't measure using the metric system - then no one wins!

How many centimeters is safe length for social distancing? Well, that depends on if you measure the kilometers by how the bat files... Don't be racist and use American IMPERIAL Measurements. Bigots!

VOTE DEMOCRAT! It's the only way to keep safe no matter how you measure it...

Google, Plague Doctors From 17th Century France and Italy. See the outfit they had then, better than CPD has now. They carried a long pole to keep patients at a distance, to move clothing with and even taking a patients pulse. Way ahead of us for the time.

So in Illinois it’s ten feet? We only have to stay six feet apart and in stores, etc., we’re not doing that very well. Not the stores’ fault though.

To expound on 02:17 AM's comment, I am helping "home-school" my young grandkids and was amazed that the majority of early math lessons teach and use the metric system. When they ask me "how many meters or centimeters is this or that", I tell them them that in this country we use the Imperial or US standard system. Then they ask me why they are being taught a system that isn't generally used in this country. I tell them ask your teacher, even though I know what the response will be. The kids are really too young to get the big picture, but I am amazed at what is being taught to these kids (in all subjects). And in A CATHOLIC school. Heaven help us.

You never know what you might get from the Vanecko Pole Company. Whatever it might be better it sure wouldn't meet specifications.

I recall, years ago, when police officers used to routinely write citations for " loud pipes"on cars. It was appealed and the courts said that without a device that can measure the volume, the police cannot determine if any vehicle meets that standard. I would think the same thing applies here. Unless you are a damn food, enforcing any of these edicts of the mayor or governor would be just plain wrong. You can see how vague their wording is and how vague their response is when " violations" are brought to their attention.

Looks like the Commander in 25 is in whey over his head. Running a tact team is nothing like running a district. He’s clueless things are spiking up with the Hispanic gangs to where there’s bloodshed everyday. This is interesting because he surrounded himself with Morans.
The district secretary is a snob, the new tact secretary is a bitch, the new tact Lt is a snake and the 2 new girls in the CAPS office are trying to bid out because they don’t like the secretary. Such a mess

I wouldn’t touch anyone with a ten foot pole.
I think a warning shot would be more effective, like a bit of Hennessy in a little red solo cup.

Dumb merit bosses following the merit leaders.
Can’t do a proper dispersal if a proper investigation into wrong doesn't exist. Thats is the law. Surveillance is not an excuse that will please any court. Simply rolling up on someone is never enough to order a dispersal. So don’t expect our Dept video pod and BWC cams to help. So it’s all one those who wish to comply with HQ and their misinterpretation and surrender to communistic socialism.
But if you want to keep your spot...do as you’re told.
The City, COPA and CPD are friends willing to help you out in these challenging times.

This disruption civil liberties is happening only in certain areas. Larri the double talking frog will come back and point out the disparities in enforcements at a later date when reforms mandates have to be addressed after their plague panic subsides and before it comes back again in October.

Stay Smart Stay Away.

Because Chicago is a World Class City and has so many so-called “New Americans” who may not be familiar with English units of measure, this must also be in the Metric System. English units of measure are a hateful expression of the racist, classist, elitist, nationalist, heteronormative, patriarchy that was Medieval England!

British- style Army and Police agencies ( such as Royal Canadian Mounted Police) use PACE STICKS to measure distances ( in 30 inch paces) on the parade ground. This could be adapted to CPD on the street. A Pace Stick is a giant pair of dividers ( like in Drafting class) but made out of wood, with brass tips on the wood. The collapsed Pace Stick is carried by the Drill Sergeant, usually under the left arm, parallel to the ground during the parade. ( Trying to add some cosmopolitan sophistication to CPD!)
