Homeowner Fined for Party

  • Chicago Police have cited the owner of a townhome that was the site of a large house party over the weekend, according to a Northwest Side alderman.

Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36th) said he convened a Monday meeting between the building owner and the commander of the CPD’s Grand Central District, who issued the woman “a couple citations for public nuisance and gave her strict warnings and we also have just put her on notice.”

Video footage over the weekend party in the 2000 block of North Narragansett quickly went viral. Clips posted to Facebook showed dozens of people crammed into the home, with everyone standing in very close proximity and hardly anyone wearing protective masks.
Groot huffed and puffed:
  • Earlier in the day, Lightfoot vowed to “get to the bottom” of the party — and hold everyone involved accountable for the public health risk.

Lightfoot said the city is “still in the midst of the investigation to identify the specific location” of the party, captured on a shocking Facebook video that already had been viewed more than a million times before it was taken down Monday.
And during the effort to "hold everyone accountable," not a single party-goer is facing a charge or citation.

Funny how that happens.

Groot is quoted:
"“I can’t prevent people from being foolish. I wish I had that kind of power."

No you don't Groot. If you had such power, that power would also grind to a halt 80% of the foolish shit you do.

Standards for thee but never for me, uh Democrat?

It appears that the partygoers were all members of the “community”. If I’ve learned one thing after almost 50 years of living in Chicago, it’s that the “community” is never held responsible for their actions. It’s usually the fault of racism, lack of free $$$ or an inanimate object (like a gun).

Some won't even get sick.
Some will get sort of sick.
Some will be so sick, they want to die, but don't.
Maybe one will actually die, maybe.
How many of their Grandmothers and Grandfathers will they infect?
How many will die?
How many of the 3 or 4 nursing home workers at the party will bring the 'rona to work with them?
How many nursing home patients will they infect?
How many will they kill?

LANDLORD gets citation? Ridiculous. Landlord can't control its tenants' behavior on a day-to-day basis. Tenant has rights to behave like a jerk, so long as certain expectations regarding limits on noise, property preservation, and law-abiding behavior are observed. Last time I looked at landlord-tenant housing law in Chicago, parties aren't prohibited. "Stay-at-home" isn't legally-binding LAW. Every landlord is required to give tenant "quiet enjoyment and privacy" within said rented property.

Let's see how this plays out. Could be a nice Supreme Court case.

Who’s the sad sack that had to write the meaningless ANOV post facto that will be tossed out in 2 minutes?

Here’s the deal and another problem of the JB Lockdown...
Had these chiltren been in school, they’d all have been at home studying and planning to get up early for class the next day. But police had to intervene and I’m gonna bet some chiltren were even were smoking some tobaccos indoors too, also illegal and subject to ordinance complaint. Did anyone check that...hmmmm? Nope. All let’go unto the mean dangerous streets. Interrupted and scuttled from a private home event and not an single ISR to be had. COPA just has to be having a fit.

One ANOV for CPD, one giant COPA investigation for many that responded.
Nice police work...in these challenging times.
Thanks for a job well done.
Honorable Mention forthcoming.

This incident and another being shown on TMZ raise some interesting points. I understand the authority of the Left Wing Democrat Peoples Republic of Illinois, regarding Social Distancing in public. But by what authority are they issuing citations for what occurred in a residence, to which the police were not actually called? The Alderman meets with the home owner and issues citations after the fact? One of the lessons to be learned by this Pandemic is that Government run by Democrats will take as much freedom and revenue as possible, under the pretext that it is for your own good. If you can be issued citations for enjoying an evening with your "extended" family, cousins and "Play Cousins", why is that Government's Business. Is Jelly Belly going to next creep into the bedroom? If the government can tell the owner of a residence what they can do in that residence and with whom; then the owner is not the real owner, and may be due for a real estate tax rebate. Baby "G"
