Killers Released
- After calls from state lawmakers and a Freedom of Information Act Request from Illinois Senate Republicans, the Illinois Department of Corrections releases a list of every inmate released from state prisons since March 1.
On that list are almost 4,000 inmates that had their sentence commuted by either Gov. JB Pritzker, or were released by the Illinois Department of Corrections. According to court records, some of those released were convicted of violent crimes — 64 of them for murder, four of them convicted here in the Stateline.
It is the most expansive list of inmates released from Illinois prisons since the pandemic started. Last week, 13 WREX reported on 16 offenders that were commuted by Pritzker after documents were sent to us. This new list released by IDOC shows a much larger number of inmates and violent crimes.
Sixty-four convicted murderers out walking around. But at least it's not this stupid:
- The “Green River Killer” will face the coronavirus pandemic behind bars, along with most of Washington’s prison population.
In a narrow 5-4 vote, the state’s Supreme Court ruled that a large chunk of inmates shouldn’t be released because of the pandemic. The vote came after a lawsuit was filed that called for the release of about two-thirds of Washington’s prison population. The lawsuit claimed that inmates aren’t able to control their safety from the virus while in lockdown.
Gary Ridgway, 71, was among those who would have reportedly been released as part of the lawsuit. Ridgway, better known as the "Green River Killer," preyed on young women and confessed to killing at least 49 people. He was sentenced to life in prison in 2003.

ok, uh, remind me. How does this make us (law-abiding, non-felon population) safer?
I didn't think it was possible for Washington State to have Judges as stupid as those in Chicago. Then I remembered that Seattle is the city where people are allowed to shit in the street and do drugs in public. Could it be possible that Seattle is as messed up as Chicago? Who'd of thunk it?
that's were the death penalty comes in. it has a long memory. no chance of early release.
Perhaps this is a crisis that should not go to waste.
Can you recall a time, other than Halloween or mardi gras, where one could wear a mask in public and not draw the attention of law enforcement ?

A few years ago Chicago Magazine did an article featuring prisoners being released early from IDOC. These convicts were released on the behest of Democratic Illinois politicians. Chicago Magazine just ran the article on three prisoners released if I remember correctly. There was a note book of prisoners names that Chicago Magazine did not write about or had no knowledge of. Majority of these individuals were brutal criminals. And 95 percent of the politicians requesting the release of these convicts were African Americans. I am sure this is true today. How much dope money will these politicians receive in campaign contributions?

Words cannot express my disappointment with the liberal. These people are truly beyond the pale. Who are these 4 people? 49 murders and you almost walk? This guy should have been tortured and brought back to life 49x so he could be tortured again and he almost got out? So. The state is saying that a $1-2.00 mask given to a prisoner is worth the lives of everyone else..Paying for a funeral and another prosecution, plus housing, tax breaks, mental health services outside of the prison, medical care, etc is. Democrats at work.
Unreal. There’s a good documentary on the green river killer on YouTube. He stored the bodies in the same area and would often return to have sex with the decomposed bodies.
Please help with this, Illinois has victims rights laws. When bad people are released, victims have a right to know. Who is contacting the victims when these felons are free to roam the streets again?

Yep well the fat ass is being protected by the state police 24 hours a day seven days a week, and his wife is Jetsetting to their palatial estate in Florida on a private jet with massive arm security detail we are left with the scum of the earth who will be hunting again to kill more people as this governor lets these violent felons out incredible how stupid he is! Why not have a map of all the killers? The state is keeping track of them, (presumably) so the locations should be FOIAable.

All the murderers let out but yet police officers that are retired are not allowed to carry because the program is suspended for now, and concealed carry holders get a five year card able to carry for five years while police officers who have served honorably only get one year but we know the elected Democrats would never ever propose a bill to the President of the United States to help the police because they are so against law and order every last one of them even our governor or mayor Will do nothing to benefit the hard-working police officers. And l on another note since the Pension Board will not answer this question has the city made their payment to the Chicago police pension fund as required by law because the mayor of spending money like a drunken sailor everywhere but where she is supposed to pay the bills.

If you bail someone out, you should be responsible for them. You take them home with you. You mentor them and you are responsible for their conduct. If they fuck up and return to crime, you get sentenced to the same prison, same cell. You bought them, enjoy....

Progressive judges have infiltrated the justice system for quite some time now. Perry Steven Miller was sentenced to death in Indiana for the murder, rape, and torture of Christel Helmchen in 1991. In 2001 his sentenced was overturned by a panel of 7th Circuit judges in Chicago on an appeal. The panel ruled that he had inadequate representation in the original trial and should be subsequently released in 120 days or receive a new trial. He wound up pleading and took a 138 year sentence instead.
It is beyond outrageous that any appellate judge would touch this case with a 10ft pole after reading the horrific acts this man orchestrated at the expense of this innocent young girl's life. Even the death penalty would have been too humane a punishment for this vile creature. Yet, these liberal fools actually saw fit to consider releasing him after a jury tried to permanently banish this evil from society. Do not think for a second that these same so called "honorable" judges would hesitate to release prisoners in order to promote their righteous agenda. They care more about a virus killing a murderer than a murderer killing an innocent.
