Property Tax Refund Coming?

  • Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Friday he will not reopen schools for in-person instruction because of the coronavirus, ensuring the unprecedented disruption to the education of the state’s 2.2 million students will continue through the end of the academic year.

The governor announced the decision at his daily afternoon press conference, joining 27 states and three U.S. territories that have either ordered or recommended the same action, decisions that have impacted more than 25 million students.

“Science says our students can’t go back to their normal routine,” Pritzker said. “To the parents who find themselves experiencing a world of emotions because of this pandemic, along with some extra stress with your kids at home all day, I promise you, you will get through this.”

Pritzker said parents should rest assured that “Illinois students are in good hands. Our teachers and our administrators are doing what they do best. They’re stepping up to ensure that every child in this state receives the education that they deserve.” The governor said state education officials will work with individual districts with specific needs to be addressed.
In the real world, when there's a massive disruption of the economy, overhead is trimmed, people get laid off, businesses shutter. And in the government world, not a single layoff for some reason. Once the government get its cut, they certainly don't want to give it back to the taxpayers.

The teachers are a joke!!!! They’re not doing a damm thing and still getting paid $100,000 a year. 16% raise? For what? The rest of the world either works or you don’t get paid.

Here's what that American Library Association included in their press release of 3/17/20 advising that libraries be closed to the public:

"Additionally, and in alignment with our companion organization, the ALA Allied Professional Association (APA), we encourage libraries to ensure that all library workers receive fully paid leave, including health coverage, while libraries are closed."

It doesn't say that staff should stay at home, and based on my experience, the library workers could easily have kept 10 feet apart if they wanted to work.

When I went to the ALA pages this evening, I saw that many libraries are using their 3D printers to create masks for first responders. Maybe we can get someone to ask the mayor how many CPL has made. Some of the libraries have the printers at what is called the Maker's Lab.

You can't even return items now as all the drop boxes are locked. So apparently no staff whatsoever is going to the branches and doing any kind of work. The ALA has an article that suggests that after 14 days books should be free of live viruses --- so that means CPL will further delay circulation of items because these entitled city workers cannot be bothered to go to the workplace and pick up items turned in through the drop box, sequester them for 2 weeks, and then move them to their own shelves or whatever branch has a hold on them.

Let this incident be the impetus for year round e-schooling. Say 50 teachers per grade, earning a full salary. They would give their presentations to a video camera. After vetting by parents, the lessons would be added to a virtual library of lessons. Every child would receive the same quality of learning, some kids might have to download the lesson a few times before it would sink in. Testing could be offered by appointment in schools so they would be proctored by state proctors. If Sesame Street can teach the alphabet and numbers, why stop there? Parents would be able to have a hand in maintaining discipline, and be able to schedule vacations when their jobs allow. Kiddies would have take along school, and complete lesson plans remotely.

Can we have the students go to school all summer to make up for the missed education? Hell no. Why? The teachers union won’t allow it. These teachers need their time off. What about the kids? It’s for the children right? Wrong. It’s for the teachers. What a scam.

How many teachers have died or are sick from Covid-19? Probably none because they get to stay home with full pay and benefits and educate their own kids. They also just received an 18% pay raise. The teachers have the best scam going. So far three police officers have died and many more are sick and we are working without a contract.

Heard about and laid off city or state workers or any reductions in their saleries yet? You won't hear either of these ideas floated. Only the private sector will right size and make necessary cuts. Your Dekmocratic government would never think of such a thing. But they will raise taxes and fees of that you can be sure. DEMOCRATS ARE REALLY GOOD AT THAT.

Governor JB (JELLY BELLY) Notoilets, is a good representation of Government in Illinois over the last 50 years. 50 years ago the State was a lean mean fighting machine and 50 years later the State is a fat-ass billionaire who tried to avoid paying "extremely reasonable???" property taxes on his castle so that the hard working taxpayers can all pay more on their modest homes! At the same time each politician in the state has increased their own wealth, added benefits and done nothing but (steal) misappropriate more and more tax money! My Daddy always told me "You can't steal money if you're not spending money!"
Problem is they spend money they will never have!!!
In Illinois they just keep electing democRAT after democRAT to dig a deeper hole!

Reporters should do their homework. "Unprecedented disruption" is untrue. Children stayed home from school, and education was conducted via newspaper and radio, back in the days when polio had no vaccine and schools were closed during the epidemic. (WBEZ - the BE is board of education. The station was once owned/run by them. Look it up.) Very organized education, too. Greater numbers of students today? Yes. But this has been done before. Do your homework...know your history.

Sweden didn't shut down and their rate of infection is no worse than any other European country, regardless of what some American politician, advised by the ship of fools "experts" say, that are advising the US commit economic suicide for a damn disease with no more fatalities than the damn common flu. Oh yes, there will be many deaths from this, probably double the number the virus directly killed. Heart attacks from economic stress and suicides from economic devastation will be numerous. But hey, we took advantage of a crisis, we might be able to get rid of Trump because of this! It's simple math...Politicians don't know to spend less. They can only spend more. When the state does re-open the state will raise taxes to put a band aid on the growing deficit while no one but the government is working. Notice also that they haven't rescinded or suspended the states gas tax. The Hogs at the government funding trough don't intend to slow down one bit. Since the property tax monies go into the general fund before any of it is given to the schools, a refund would be out of the question.

Could this be the same “science” that predicted an ice age was coming back in the 70’s and now claim global warming will melt polar ice caps and cause extinction? “Science says our students can’t go back to their normal routine,” Pritzker said.“
– If a Republican said this....man-oh-man the shit would be flying.

Science and real doctors (not tax cheating slobs) say kids, young folk with adequate immune systems and healthy lungs recover from bronchopneumonia like illness quite well. The sick should stay home, just like they did prior to this lockdown.

Aside from being out of school and a no preparedness study-at-home plan ever devised, CPS was never a normal anything.
As the teachers sit idling, food service vendors are still delivering full allotted provisions. Guess how much is being tossed out at the end of the week...some get Pam Zekman to do some dumpster diving.

The City and CPS never prepared for a natural disaster? Did they ever consider some cataclysmic catastrophe ever occurring that would maybe shutter schools? These are suppose to be smart people, people that are suppose to be planning lesson plans.

No computers, no laptops, no ipads, no WiFi.
WHAT F@&K HAPPENED TO BOOKS, BACKPACKS, PAPER AND PENCILS .....????
You know, that stuff they hand out ever late August and teachers complain they have to buy themselves!

JB is already planning to re-directing all those Federal Funds intended for Covid’s ventilators and PPE to be used on giving away free electronic devices. In CPS terms, those are the ones that sit in boxes in basements unused until they’re obsolete or stolen during the course of the school year or over summer break.

So what happens... summer-skrool forbearance, everybody passes including those many truants?
Only those with WiFi and computers will have to fulfill the rest of the curriculum graduation requirements.?

Tricking down is the effect of the lockdown has affected so many business that depend on open schools.
The CPS/CTU is not. In fact they’re be due for an increase to their coming fiscal budget including that strong arm wage increasing strike.

If schooling is as essential as it should be, teachers should not be sitting at home - during these challenging times. Show up at their schools and sweep floors, wash windows, restock the library shelves...something.
And certainly there shouldn’t be this forbearance period of providing education as required by the standard and it should be a suspension not a shortened season. The required hours, days, weeks, months should be made up not erased.

Let’s hope the people of Chicago and Illinois are sharp enough to see what the Democrats are trying to indoctrinate.
Red4Ed is a movement and JB LightLoafers are on the board of stewards.

You give birth to a child and according to him, it's added stress, because they are home all day. Always loved and cherished my children and never felt stressed out because they were home. Home is where the heart is, and during this time, Home is where your children should be. In the real world there is a growing amount of data that shows laying off people actually costs more money over time. Laid off workers find other jobs which means when things get better you have to rehire and restrain. Workers that don’t get laid off are more loyal and willing to work harder and without raises out of loyalty. Southwest Airlines has never laid off. Victorinox has never laid off. Visa is not laying off. Bank of America is not laying off. Many many companies are not laying off. Besides if Illinois lays off they have to pay in unemployment insurance anyway, which is stretched thin. Two of my children are Working fir small municipalities and they say people are working. Doing things they don’t normally do. No raises. No hiring. They say without the normal revenue coming in villages are broke. States can not print money. Without infusion from federal government there will be bankruptcies. That means the pensions on workers are gone, including police. This may push Chicago to bankruptcy which would solve a lot of Lightfoots problems. Contracts suspended, restructuring of pensions. We have a president from business world giving money to businesses, which is good, but ignoring states so he can blame governors for failures.

Illinois Counties are saying to Homeowners -- many of whom are now forced to be Out Of Work by Gubmint edict -- 'Fuck You, Pay Me!' Who knew that these petty tyrants in Illinois' counties were such big movie fans. With their non-extensions, they're trying to mimic that 'Pay me' scene from Goodfellas.

Or they're going for a classical gubmint Catch-22 -- I'd pay you if I had a job, but you won't let me have a job.

This being Illinois, I think they're going the Mobster route.

(ps: The Catch-22 book is 10x better than the two movies that have been made.)

These CTU assholes are nothing but extortionists. The city should lay off teachers or suspend pay. Teachers can continue to receive pay if the agree to teach through the summer. Classes could resume when the “stay at home” order is lifted. A state of emergency was declared, this often opens the doors to CBA overrides. Allowing the city of Chicago or State of Illinois to make adjustments. They should exercise that right.

These teachers strong armed Lighthead in to a contract and even extorted some back pay out of her, time to turn the table on these commies. They are overpaid to start with. Especially when you consider the product they bring to the table. CPS students are some of the worst of all major cities. Although they play the numbers game and lowering standards to boost positive numbers.

Their union are stone ass commie' as their Marxist members. Lightfoot kissed their asses and gave them a raise that is beyond amazing.
I really do not give two shits for coppers who' spouses are CPS teachers. Teachers have and continued jamming up coppers for years. So Fuck em all, and their 120 K @ year part time job.
Can assure you, teachers send their kids to private schools.

The FOP does nothing at all, while the teachers got 16 percent, now get full pay for doing nothing at all, must have their summers free and are touted as heroes by Fat Albert. And if they don't get what they want boy do they get mad. The FOP could learn something from the teachers union.

How about all of us who are sending our kids to private schools? We're still obligated to pay full tuitions no rebates coming. I also, as many have, paid for my kid's sports that were all obviously canceled. Any chance at rebates? Doubtful! My little ass 1200 square foot concrete pad I call a home, is surely going to be reassessed and property taxes will most likely only go way higher to buy all these yutes laptops.

My son teaches in the Crete-Monee HS. First job out of college. The Admin there wants him to come up with a plan for every student to pass by E-Learning. He has 3 kids who haven't shown up since day one. Admin says come up with a plan. Admin says they tried calling and no answer. He says what about Truant Officer doing his job and going to the house. Answer-----"He is busy."
He submits a report saying to have Will Co Sheriff go to their house for a well being check to see if they're alive, then he will see what to do. Heads blew up with that one. Yeah, and you know what game of cards is being played here......

Typical teacher, wants the police to do his job for him. At least the administration understands what school is the schools responsibility not the police. You and your kid should need to understand the polices role in society and it's not to babysit, that's your son's job.

For Crete-Monee High School, how about the 3 kids can't be located and/or don't have Home Internet? 😀
