- On March 19, a drug suspect with a lengthy rap sheet was released as part of Hillsborough County’s efforts to thin out the jail population amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. One day later, deputies say, he committed murder.
According to the sheriff’s office, Joseph Edward Williams was in the Orient Road Jail on charges of possession of heroin, which is a third-degree felony, and possession drug paraphernalia, which is a first-degree misdemeanor.
The 26-year-old was one of 100 inmates given bond as part of an effort to lower the risk of COVID-19 spreading within detention facilities and to protect the inmates, deputies, and civilians working within the jails.
But now, deputies say, he has been arrested for a murder that took place March 20 along Ash Avenue in Tampa’s Progress Village neighborhood.
- Los Angeles County's decision to release more than 4,000 inmates because of the coronavirus pandemic has the region dealing with "uncharted territory" in terms of the effect on public safety, an investigative reporter told Tucker Carlson on Tuesday night.

"He said in the interview, this is uncharted territory right here. He said he got pressure from the ACLU and other social activist groups. Two weeks after he made this decision, he started getting letters from those activist groups to release the inmates. Well, he did it," Melugin said. "And he said if these inmates act up, if they don't show up for court, if they start committing crimes again, that's going to look bad for that social justice agenda. And those groups like the ACLU are going to have to rethink what they're doing."
We highly doubt they even thought about the consequences before releasing four-thousand inmates, so they aren't going to think about it going forward except to blame normal thinking people for not being understanding by surrendering all of their property to the newly liberated.

We can't say they didn't think about the consequences; that's their primary responsibility. We have to conclude that, after review, passing the buck and making the resulting mayhem a challenge for officers pushing beat cars seemed preferable to them than answering to the media for not being able to control a pandemic within the walls of correctional facilities.
Release the inmates, lock up the paddleboarders, the dads playing catch with their kid, and the lakefront joggers.
Just why do house think there has been recorded gun sales in the last two months. The people know it will be up to them to protect themselves and their homes. One step closer to a real problem.
The radical left knows what they are doing. These former inmates will be able to vote, influence the vote being election judges, poll watchers and voting advisors near the poles. With so many of them being released there will be so much crime in the streets the legitimate voters will be afraid to come out to vote.

Among the measures is a $125 million fund for illegal immigrants living within the state. Seems reasonable, they came in illegally, committed a crime doing so, let us further reward them.

If the inmate catches it while in custody, it is the county's problem. the county has to pay for their health care and there well could be legal consequences down the road leading to big payouts, especially if an inmate who is incarcerated for some penny ante offense dies from the disease while incarcerated.
It is not ideal, but I can understand why the county would want to release as many prisoners as possible, if nothing else to protect the staff.
Prisons and jails have a bad record of TB and other diseases sweeping through them. This virus is extremely contagious. It would not take much for it to go through a lot of prisoners and staff if it got a foot hold.
This murderer should be feed feet first slowly into a wood chipper! Feed the birds as he spews out of the chute!
