Police Shooting

  • No one was hurt after police fired shots during an encounter with someone seen firing a gun Friday in Garfield Park on the West Side.

About 1:11 p.m., officers saw someone fire shots at another person in the 3900 block of West Madison Street, Chicago police said. The suspect sped off, and police followed the vehicle to West Jackson Street and South Pulaski Road.

During an encounter there, an officer fired his weapon, police said. No injuries were reported, and the suspect got away.
Shouldn't there have about fifty "surge" cars floating around that area? Or is that only during the hours of darkness?

Be careful - tomorrow is supposed to be over 70 degrees.

No Surge people there, just the narcotics unit out there tying to show the new boss that they still are relevant. Two coppers hurt from 11 when they crashed on 290. Hopefully they'll cover soon.

Anyone see that email Sleepy Holt sent out to area 2 teams? Demanding activity during a lockdown. Then LT Cascone doubles down and emails everyone in gangs “let’s give the man what he wants, it’s time we got back to regular patrol activities, it’s going to happen sooner or later.” But the best part is, they both say to stay safe. Thanks boss!

This whole incident started over someone not wearing a mask and asked to leave an establishment.

Would help if the unit calling it out would have called out the correct streets. Not to mention the unmarked suv that pulled in front of a unit that was chasing the offending vehicle to make a nicely calculated text book driving school 3 point turn allowing the offending vehicle to bend the corner and hit the eway into the wind like magic. Keep putting these 2 year wonders in spots over their experience level.

Glad no one was hurt.

It seems like whenever lead is flying, it finds an innocent person. Thankfully it didn't this time.
Too bad the criminals don't care about the innocent.

Normal people have a tendency to get upset when they are told something like "wear a mask". The community of Mayor BugEyes gets violent.

Garfield park needs to be closed Lori. Or is it just easier to harass and scream at unarmed white runners and moms with baby carriages on the 606. It seems her animals can do no harm and can commit crimes without any punishment. First it was crimes being justified because of poverty, ones we can’t put the shooters, murders and feral predators in jail because of the bat flu. It’s all trumps fault anyway. Right Lori and fat ass Pritzker.

Same old same old. 2 year wonders that think theyre the police. Idiot that crashed the car just totaled a car a couple weeks ago also on the 290 chasing a stolen car that wasnt. Theses kids on the job today cant be told anything they know everything. We have in 011 the most crashed and totaled car count in the city thanks to the millennial police who are still locking people up for 2 bags of hair-on even tho it wont get tested and the case wont be prosecuted during a pandemic Stupid kids

How many shot in 011 ?
011 will go over 300 alone.

Nope Cato changed all the saturation, gun, and gangs units to work only nights. 1 period of days in a four month period. This mutt needs to go. I don’t know why the mayor is listening to this idiot. Could be worse he could be the superintendent. 💯💯💯

It was nice to see 10 officers from some unit (GEU?) standing around with their hands in their vests or taking pictures of a roll over accident. The radio is blowing up and you guys are standing around , yukking it up.
No one dead, they all ran. Paper car is there.
Are you.not listening to the radio ?

As of now it’s 3rd watch and 1st watch only. unfortunately it’s going on throughout the summer as well.
When the first officer calls out a 10-1 in a low manpower district that sent 1 and 10 the west side God forbid there’s no coverage they might rethink this circus surge show. Stay safe out there as the mercury and lead will be rising.

Was always an issue when they send coppers from the Northside down into the trenches, they are out of thier element, meaning about nowhere to eat, dont bother to even try and get familiar with the streets or where the nearest hospital may be. I worked in unit that we were sent to every district and made it my business to make sure we knew the area or kept a beat nap nearby. Some guidance is needed. I keep saying that the young gunners we have need driving lessons.

This Surge Mission only stirs the Hornets nest and confuses motorists and traffic with the blue lights on as we caravan aimlessly in a box. Who the fuck thought of this stupid ass idea?

Scourge the Surge.
No need to interfere with street duels.

Case and Point:
Earlier this week up in 024 in the early afternoon, a pair of ne’er working, Larri’s StayAt Home violating, repeat justice-involved individuals came upon another group of ne’er-do-well repeat justice-involved community members also in violating of Larri’s StayAtHome orders decided to have a sidewalk shooting match. One shooting felon shoots another shooting felon and both get wounded. One felon dies, the other fell Injured and subsequently arrested along with another. The surviving violent armed assailant was NOT charged the murder. Not even a second degree charge or aggravated batt-tree. The CookCo States Attorney says it was self defense and a meaningless UUW is all. Yes, both eligible for affordable bond release. Cook Co says is ok for two violent armed repeat felons shoot it out on a crowded neighborhood side street in broad daylight, take the life of another in the process ...AND ITS SELF DEFENSE!

Guess this is now going to be on the IL State Police to RedFlag the weapons, FOID revocations.
Attn district beat officers, Larri will be expecting those StayAtHome $1,000 ANOV’s too.

Look, here’s the deal...
CookCo doesn’t care. Neither should you.
Aid the injured, write your reports, make notifications as needed.
Stay safe - Stay out of ghetto affairs.

Police shooting, no hits sounds normal to me. That is not news. Wasn't there a 60s movie The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight? Could be a CPD documentary.

Yep, we were there. Above is true. However, one of The 1106 yahoos that crashed on 290 was involved in ANOTHER crash like 2 weeks ago. He's a total stroke who has no discretion. Total Napolean syndrome (you must be THIS high to ride the rides...) If it runs, he chases it.
Don't know how you're in a shooting if YOU'RE in a pursuing car and offender is in a fleeing car...hmmm. this ain't the movies, you aren't taking shots from your car these days, although he WAS totally cool and calm after he announced he shot at the off. Lol. Real casual, sounded like he might've had some time on the job. The only reason 011 was a shitshow that day was BECAUSE of that police shooting, otherwise it would've been a fleeing shooter which some boss would've terminated the chase anyway.

Something tells me that with all these units that are used to playing in easier pastures now stationed out of 011, they're going to be steppin' on their dicks ALOT more this year. 011 district regulars know how to handle the locals, we deal with their nonsense everyday, we know when it needs to be taken up a few notches. Take some gung-ho unit guy who's hardest job was running a negative search warrant with 7 other officers and have him driving around, interacting with the craziness that is the average 011th district resident, and prepare for a long summer of police fuckups. The brass is going to earn their pay trying to mop up their mess!

The kids do not listen. The unit from narcotics said over the zone that no cars where needed on 290 because they were unsure of direction of flight on the offender. Yet several cars disregarded that and went flying onto 290. Moments later the accident. A minute later the narcotics car said they made it to the Dan Ryan and never saw the offender. So they were chasing a ghost and yet the youngens’ didn’t listen and paid the price. Gonna be a long summer in 11 if these super cops refuse to listen.
