Well, she can afford the $13K-$18K tuition at Igs with her $250K salary.
Maybe everyone should take a second look at those school vouchers that would allow other equally smart (but not financially blessed) to attend schools formerly considered out-of-reach.

Most principals and teachers who were given the luxury of out of city grandfather clause (by contract) were able to raise and educate there offspring in the suburbs as well as Indiana along with some that just don’t care due to little or no enforcement of the rules by the CPS. No different than CPS teachers allowed entrance to schools there children shouldn’t be in along with free lunches and fee waivers they are not eligible for because they work.
That should tell you everything you need to know about CPS? Even the magnet schools are subpar.

It is telling but I know many CPS teachers in my neighborhood who send their kids to catholic schools instead of our public school here in Mt. Greenwood. Mt Greenwood is a good school but even the CPS teachers I talk too say the teachers are good and the principal is tough and good but year by year the CPS administration and CTU are gaining more control and say so about what happens in each school including Mt Greenwood. They don’t like a lot of the policies that are coming down the pipe along with how mt Greenwood still has its good number of scummy families NOT from within the Mt Greenwood Borders who are going to the school by lying about addresses. There are numerous families from Alsip, hometown and the trailers in marionette park and those scummy addresses in alsip on 119th who are just using their parents(the child’s grandparents) as their home address still in order to send their kids to Mt Greenwood. I’ve been at Mt Greenwood for 3 years now and it’s OK but I am beginning to see what others are talking about. One kid in my daughters class has two absolute scum parents with a former mt Greenwood resident who was a complete hype with her east aide boyfriend who I’ve found has been to the joint numerous times. It’s great to see them at pick ups and see them in ghetto fights at the colts football games where she cheerleads. We may do the catholic school for the 2nd and third kid as they are going into kindergarten this year and the other one will be going in two years. It’s sad to see the low quality starting to make its way back into that school, it was on the right track for so long but this liberal ctu and CPS administration wants it all changed in the coming years. Why can’t they just leave us alone.
BTW, tuition for upcoming year is$19,850 plus $1000 registration fee according to their website. And back in the day, no girls allowed: we would be distracted from our studies if we had girls in our school we were told. New Trier males didn't have a problem excelling in a co-ed school, but we would...

If CPD has a residency requirement, why not impose the same thing on teachers and staff? If they have kids, they must attend Chicago schools.
I remember a Deputy Mayor of Education that was forced out in less than two days when it was revealed her daughter went to a fancy private school in Winnetka
6 of my 8 closest friends are retired school teachers. Not one of them sent their kids to a public high school.

I went to my neighborhood CPS schools K-12. I learned a lot and had some excellent, compassionate teachers, and a lot of fun times with friends. I also had: 30-year old science textbooks, multiple homicides, drug dealing, a riot, violence against teachers, no doors on the bathrooms, no doors on the toilet stalls, no toilet paper -- ever -- not one day, a teacher knocking a kid stone cold out in front of the class, theft of students' property and of the school's property by staff, holes in the roof (you could see the sky), a roof that collapsed, homemade gym equipment, a shortage of desks & chairs (I had to sit on the radiator for part of the year in one class); oh, and a visiting college recruiter who told me, sorry, I didn't come here to recruit Whites (of which there were almost none). Thanks.
I didn't have a choice where I went; I probably would have liked flirting with the girls at St. Ignatius instead of being forced to learn first-hand about our fine city's criminal organizations. How nice for Dr. Jackson's son.

It’s $19,850. You don’t spend 4K in books. Families in need get around $11k in grants.
The school is full of rich spoiled snotty brats, but few schools can match the academics (short of Latin School, IMSA, and U of C Lab School). The one plus is that if you’re a kid from a working class family you will learn, the hard way, how the world works in terms of the haves vs. have-nots, you will rub elbows with the families of Chicago’s elite business professionals, and politicians, and you will learn how the game of life is played - not so you can become one of them, but so you can beat them. You will learn how to use them before they can use you. Which is entirely more satisfying.
If you’re going to send your kid to St. Laurence or any other frat house Catholic school, you’d be better off saving the money and sending
them to the local CPS school which is the equivalent academically. Yeah yeah, tell me how great the sports teams are elsewhere. Then tell me the percentage of DeLaSalle, Mt. Carmel, etc alums make a living playing professional anything. It’s around 0 point something percent.

Politicians and appointees gave no conception about most CPS. They and their kids should be forced to live near the worst schools, with their kids attending them. 😑

Loyal Ignatius parent here. You bet clout strings were pulled to get this kid in. That said, it's the safest strongest high school in chicago, bar known. She knows Peyton, Young, and Jones are wildly overrated SJW theatres.

So why does CPS need a tax appeal lawyer? Are they trying to make sure Joe Six Pack pays the optimal amount of property taxes because 52% of it goes to CPS and that means more money for CPS? Or is this just another way to funnel money to the Daley Crime Family?
