...we aren't sure. But you better go back into the system when you are able and compare your records against what you should be keeping in your FOP book. That's why we get a book every year - track court cases via key dates, continuance dates....and your OT - both time and money.
Don't take this out on timekeepers please. They number of computer entries is numbering in the thousands per day per district. Computer errors are probably not their fault. But an angry time keeper could very well make more errors along the way, so don't make their job harder.

I received an email stating my OT Slip was edited. 30 minutes deducted yet no lunch was taken. I was assigned to a goddam fixed post for 16 hours and remember not taking 30 minutes or personals. Computers do not make mistakes. Computers are information storage devices the input comes from the operator. Such Bullshit!
Anything I earned that might be overlooked or dismissed, whether maliciously, accidentally or otherwise will result in the “3-For-1 Rule” taking full effect.

The Dept time cards and daily schedule is still a paper record that has to jibe with the electronic record. I don’t know what advances have been made with the new program over the years since I last done an A&A.

I left the department in 2017 to work as a Cisco systems admin. Any computer science major who is a junior in college can write a program in about 2 afternoons that can fix this issue. Writing the code isn’t a problem... who is running this department prolly got someone’s connected cousin to write it or intentionally wrote fucked code
Once had a timekeeper give me 11.75 hours of OT. I had four (4) court apperances, .25, .25, .25 and .50 of an hour each. When I got the OT check for 11.75 hours, I questioned the timekeeper as to why it wasn't an even 12 hours like it should be as each appliance should get the 3 hours required. After looking at the dumb expression on her face, she said "Oh, I'll get you that .25 of an hour". I said "NO, I don't want the .25, I just wanna know how you came up with 11.75........"

Is the CPD still working on a paper based payroll system? Or do you turn in your time via a computer program? If claims are being changed (as opposed to denied), I am going to assume the individual officer turns in his/her time on paper, then it goes through a timekeeper (or a supervisor and timekeeper) on it's way into the payroll system.
If it touches anyone's hands between the officer and entry into the payroll system, I'd keep a true copy of every day's timeslip (a railroad term). The timebook is a good idea as well.
Matter of fact, if time is turned in directly via computer, it might still be a good idea to make a copy of the payroll screen(s) after entry.

Lunches are part of labor law. In the other world an employer is required to grant a minimum amount of time per shift and usually within a certain amount of hours into the shift.
Anyone know what the law is for lunch periods and police? As in does putting in a slip to get paid for the half hour put the responsibility on the officer for failing to take a lunch? If you refuse to put in to get paid for the lunch and you weren't allowed the time to take a lunch do you have a labor law violation as you do anywhere else in the world?
Anyone want to put up some type of key of some sort showing the hours we should have had on each particular day for the hours we were scheduled for.
We all are tierd and might not have kept a good record in our fop books.
This way we stick together and make sure we all get the correct money we should of gotten.

RD number (if warranted), date/time, and a short scenario of interactions. I never did it and being a young buck thought it was a waste. Never knew id his entries in the steno pad did him any good in his years otj. Just for for thought in this climate of hate the police era.

There were no lunches for members who had their day off cancelled. That was 12 hours straight, no matter what time you were released. Members who worked 12 hours in their unit were eligible for a lunch, and we can't claim lunch unless the request was made and was denied by a supervisor. 3rd Watch officers assigned in the District, were given boxed lunches daily and had the time and manpower staged at each location over 10 hours to step away and have lunch. They only ones who are not going to get lunch were the RDO cancelled people. It's a cheap shot but they will say everyone had the opportunity to step back and take a meal break, but not taking into account a 10-day RAP, and officers on post not being able to go sit is a restaurant, or the District lunchroom.

Just a thought, but the union should demand, in the name of transparency, that all body camera footage in public spaces be mandatorily uploaded for public viewing. The public has a right to know how police are treated by the public and how the police treat the public. I have a sneaky feeling it's not the men/women in blue that would object to making body camera video available to the public.

Lunches are part of labor law. In the other world an employer is required to grant a minimum amount of time per shift and usually within a certain amount of hours into the shift.
Anyone know what the law is for lunch periods and police? As in does putting in a slip to get paid for the half hour put the responsibility on the officer for failing to take a lunch? If you refuse to put in to get paid for the lunch and you weren't allowed the time to take a lunch do you have a labor law violation as you do anywhere else in the world?

In Illinois law requires a 20 minute "break" if you work at least 7.5 hours. "Break" must start no later than 5 hours into your shift. This is for civilians. Not sure about police.

I am so disheartened with the growing nationwide push to defund the police. Make no mistake, defunding the police means removing police resources. We have spent the last 5 years constantly advocating for more police for our 16th District while also fighting to ensure that our resources are not detailed out to other districts. Many of my colleagues who benefit from major police resources are now joining the fight to defund the police. Enough is enough!
Next week at our city council meeting I will be introducing a resolution that calls for the creation of a Police Reallocation Pilot Program. This program will allow individual aldermen the opportunity to remove all or a portion (no less than 50%) of police resources allocated to their respective wards. Any resources deferred from wards as part of the program will be evenly redistributed across all non-participating wards. This will give aldermen who support defunding the police the opportunity to prove that removing police resources will have no negative impact on communities. This information will be useful to the city council during budget hearings.
I expect this resolution to receive the support of all 50 aldermen. Aldermen who support defunding the police will get their wish. Those of us who have been advocating for more police will receive more resources.

i used to work for the shitty. they would do this to us all the time in emergencies. be out working in some ghetto shithole all nite for 16 hours, wouldnt give you a break, no where to go anyway, and then deduct lunches every four hours and tell you its the law. nobody else anywhere fucks with workers pay like the democrats who write the laws. safety, sexual harrasment, pollution etc all huge no nos with private companies cuz democrats made all that shit illegal. work for the city and finger all the subordinates you want, dump oil down the sewer, and order people to do things that could kill them. then fuck with their pay so they look good to the mayors office. top to bottom this state needs an enema. just pure scum. thanks democrats.

Because you’re already getting OT and you can’t “pyramid” the OT. FOP issued a statement about it last week, using that wording. An arbitrator ruled on it in the past (NATO, I think).
It’s in the MOU’s.” of the contract...it’s understood you take a lunch unless you document who denied you in the description OR, as in this case, citywide rdo’s were cancelled and nobody got lunch so they get paid. This wasn’t an average detail it was a F’n riot. The women and men who stood out there should be paid entirely. Thank you to all who put so much energy into keeping this city from burning throughout. God Bless the police, and F the criminal/political element.

Time keepers shouldn’t be editing slips. Their job is to keep track of every officers time. That’s it. They aren’t supervisors.
Get a lunch? Where the hell were you going to eat? Everything was burned down or looted. That should be proof enough.
Any boss that changes your slip to reflect that you had a lunch when you didn't is falsifying an official police document and should be held accountable for each instance.

So the xo of 17 puts in a pdf msg don’t submit slips for premium pay until we know how to submit them. I call foul! They only approved four of my slips for that deployment and that was on Friday and Saturday is the cut off for the overtime which in any other company or business that will be illegal. The city should have warned us that they were going to had “issues” paying the overtime . And the issues with clear net before the 13 another foul. This system was supposed to take care of these “issues” hey john of Fop where are you on these? You supposed to be the change . And not to mention we pay all those Fop dues and the only showed up to Sox’s park one day. And still no contract.
There's a simple solution to lunch. Make lunch at home, after dinner. Then, enjoy lunch the next day. 😀👮🇺🇸
