Schools Open?
- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that schools may reopen in the fall, but school districts will decide whether classes are held in-person or over the computer.
“Every region is well below our COVID infection limit; therefore, all school districts are authorized to open,” Cuomo said Friday.
Cuomo has been taking some deserved heat for ordering sick senior citizens back to nursing homes, thereby dooming tens of thousands to early deaths. After that debacle, well-to-do New Yorker's fled the city droves, depriving New York City, County and State of billions in tax revenues.
Cuomo's national ambitions can't take another major hit, so he's begging rich people to come back to the Big Apple:

We’ll go to dinner! I’ll buy you a drink! Come over, I’ll cook!’” the Democratic governor said Monday.
“They’re not coming back right now. And you know what else they’re thinking? ‘If I stay there, I’ll pay a lower income tax,’ because they don’t pay the New York City surcharge,” he added, noting the wealthiest 1 percent of the Empire State’s population picks up roughly 50 percent of the state’s tax burden.
Cuomo is discovering what Putzker isn't - rich people (who pay massive amounts in taxes), can always afford to relocate, or leave, for extended periods of time. And once they see how much they save and how much less restriction there is on their day-to-day activities, they find that they like it, and stay even longer.

I am not a Governor CUOMO fan but at least the guy is being real and telling the truth about who pays the bills and how much they are needed.Do you think that you would ever see Pritzker or Lightfoot begging rich white people to move back into the State and City????Or even acknowledging that there is a massive flight out of this State and City?They both reside in fantasy land where everything is rainbows and unicorns.
If Gov Pigsker’s progressive Madigan Tax gets passed, you will see a lot more wealthy folks leave the state. I know several who have left already. Anyone who owns a S-corporation, LLC, LP or any other pass through tax business will leave. They can keep their homes in IL and live elsewhere for 186 days in a year and now all their investment income will not be taxed at IL rates b/c they will be residents elsewhere. Many of them are selling their IL homes and are just leaving for good. This isn’t California or New York. People WILL leave. NYC is the financial capital of the world and California is beautiful, has perfect weather, has a ton of tech companies and so the wealthy put up with the higher taxes. Not here, especially with WI and IN an hour away.

It's why we stay at our wisconsin vacation home: I can go to the beach, put my boat and jet ski in the water, put our kayaks in Lake Michigan beaches and our gps recorded over 600 miles May June July so far on the Kenosha/ racine lakefront and inland bike trails. Neither of us have covid, neither of us are dead, we are just fine, thank you. Carthage college sports teams outside practicing, Kenosha beaches literally packed with illinois residents (parking is a bitch) (I ride my bike, no problem)
Oh yeah, I forgot, sales tax 5.5%, no tax on food at grocery stores, no one wears masks at bars or restaurants except employees

Cuomo the Lesser has realized that if he doesn't open the schools, the rich are going to stay out of NYC, and send their kids to the local AND open schools. Once they change schools, there is NO reason for their families to return to NYC this entire school year. And after they see that maybe living in the benighted provinces with all those knuckle dragging provincials is not the end of the world, in fact life outside NYC is pretty damned good.
The problem with the statement of this is what you get when you vote for democrats is indeed true. However, in Chicago there is no choice. As we saw in the mayor's race it was a choice between Dumb and Dumber. Democrats have controlled Chicago since the 1930's and that isn't going to end anytime soon.
Lightfoot has been nothing less than a disaster, unfortunately the city is stuck with her for another three years or so.
Will be interesting to see if anything remains in the city besides the leeches the reside on the south and west sides.
I am not hopeful.

If anyone votes for a change in the state constitution regarding income tax, they are fools who believe the lies of Madigan and other democrats. Nothing will change, spending will just go up and the state will not make a dent in debt. Now, they are openly talking about taxing all retirement income as " fair" and a way to pay for pensions debt. I am retired and I live in a nice Chicago suburb and I like it here. But, I can tell you if the state starts to tax my pension I will move to another state, probably Indiana where overall cost of living is lower. Even my wife who has always been against moving too far away, is finally on board with the rising crime and taxes and the inability of the elected officials to manage anything
Maybe all those homeless people can stop by Governor Fredo's Brother's mansion for dinner and a drink. He said he would cook.

JB Pigfluenza figured out long ago how to get around Illinois income and real estate taxes, pays even less in Wisconsin and Florida. And that doesn’t include his business enterprises, which we don’t see the tax returns for. Shouldn’t he be taxed for tri-citizenships, maybe one property here in Chicago is his write-off for loss and depreciation, his upcoming IL graduated tax referendum is on the Nov ballot, want to bet he already figured out he’s exempt from this because of his Florida residency.

Went to New York once and had a great time even though it was a little expensive. Did typical tourist stuff like the Empire State building, Central Park carriage ride, a play on Broadway, nice restaurants, etc.
However, no more! We should pay top dollar for a hotel where this scum stays for zip? Shoots up in the halls, pisses on walls and destroys rooms leaving behind who knows what type of disease?

While I'm sure there are a few, probably very few, good and decent conservative folks that live in these neighborhoods with the hotels for homeless program, you can bet the majority of the residents are LIBERALS.
