- The Chicago Police Department spent more than $47.1 million on overtime in June as murders and shootings skyrocketed and demonstrations after the death of George Floyd devolved into looting and mayhem.
June overtime costs, released to the Chicago Sun-Times in response to a Freedom of Information request, nearly doubled the $24.1 million spent during the same period a year ago.
It means CPD has spent $84.3 million and nearly used up its overtime budget for 2020 during the first six months of the year.
And now the Department wants to spend another $5-to-10 million cancelling days off and going to twelve-hour days for Labor Day.

To date, that works out to almost $19,500.00 per person shot. And that’s just the overtime. Imagine factoring all the other costs in. There’s lots you can do with those figures. Maybe use a big portion to keep the scumbags locked up, put them on a work farm, etc..

Police and firefighter pensioners did not see upfront cuts to their pension checks. But they saw their 2.25 percent annual cost-of-living adjustments reduced to about 1 percent. Police and fire also saw cuts relating to health care, and many are struggling with higher premiums under the Affordable Care Act, too.
"From a retiree's perspective, I understand that many of them, if not all of them, will never believe that they are better off today than they would have been without the bankruptcy," said Doug Bernstein, a bankruptcy attorney at Plunkett Cooney in Bloomfield Hills.
"Trust me, this could have been a lot worse."

My neighbor here in Texas is a retired Detroit fireman. He says his insurance costs went up, but otherwise it was not too terrible. He believes the Police and Fire departments were spared compared to the rest of the union pensions.

Do to lack of prosecution for looters , arsonists arrested in June , new riots and days off cancelled , 12 hour shifts again .
I swore that Texas brown said he would reduce overtime by 59% and reduce violent crime .
