Thirty-Five Openings?

So the Department posted bid openings across the city and it looked something like this:

  • 003 - 35
  • 016 - 1
  • 017 - 2
  • 020 - 1

That's it. This is eerily reminiscent of the stunt they pulled about ten years ago where the Department wouldn't post a single opening for months on end and then come up with double-digits in a bunch undesirable spots. Any movement was one-for-one trades, so you really had to keep an eye on things to see who was moving where.

How many bid openings for 011, 007, 006, 010, 004, 015 and relatively "slow" 019? Does 003 lead all 22 districts for bid openings? What districts are the runners-up?

SCC is wise in not posting a topic for comment on last night's passing of our beloved "iconic" Justice RBG.

Will that one opening in 016 be a officer for Bt 1621? Have not scene a patrol beat up here since I retired. Sometimes I feel like I’ve made the big time because I see Lincolnwood patrolling the streets more than lack of the beat that is assigned here.

Looks like they’re establishing a dumping ground if you axe’ me.
That’s an entire Watch with allocations for rdo’s, comp time and furloughs in 016, 017...or an additional supplemental administrative staff in 020. Anyone know the last time there were Opening(s) in 016,017,020?

What ever happened to Cops on Dots and those Street Sweepers jump-out boys that clean up after the community? They pulled volunteers from Districts all over months ago and only now we’re short 1 or 2 from the N-NW side?

Strange that multiple districts could have down cars every day but still no vacancies. Strange that they can create new citywide units, stealing manpower from already shorthanded districts, and think everything will be covered somehow. I'm sure there are no down cars in certain neighborhoods, but the ones where actual law-abiding, tax-paying, working citizens live are being left with minimal police coverage. Hard to believe there's not one vacancy in any other districts. Aren't people retiring and resigning in record numbers? That should leave some vacancies. There should be a known number for the necessary manpower for each district. Any time that number falls below the required number, there should be a vacancy. That's not how it works though, despite how simple and effective that would be. They have to skew everything and lie so they can force most of the resources into undesirable, crime-ridden, police-hating, shithole neighborhoods. On the other hand, posting 35 vacancies should give the department a clue that whatever worthless, incompetent boss they've installed in a particular district isn't working out. There should be a vacancy to fill in the commander's office at that point.

Who is the lolly pop sucking fool that is creating these goofy units. News flash, someone has to actually respond when someone calls 911 and yes, once in a while the cuffs have to go on and the fun and games begin. Hard to accomplish when you have 5 cars up in an entire district.

Outside of Lt Ward, 003 is not that bad of a place to work. Plenty of good supervisors there. It’s had a bad rap for a long time. Has nothing to do with the current leadership. The department has always played games with the bid openings. Watch next month, nobody will bid into 003 but those 35 spots will somehow disappear.

Shouldn't the Mayor trust her hand-picked Chief to run the Dept instead of micro-managing?

Shouldn't the Mayor focus on the lost conventions, lack of casino, failed School districts, fleeing taxpayers and retail collapse?

Why does she think every problem in the City is the fault of CPD?

Contaminated water? Cops fault.

Striking teachers? Blame the Police.

Dumpster fires? Gotta be the Police again.

Maybe she was put here intentionally to destroy the Dept?
