Ex-Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson allegedly committed “shockingly violent” acts of sexual assault against his former driver, an officer who was with him on the controversial night that ultimately led to his firing last year.
In a lawsuit filed late Wednesday, Officer Cynthia Donald said Johnson raped and abused her repeatedly for more than three years, and later destroyed evidence of that abuse on his cellphone when the city Inspector General was investigating his conduct.

The stunning allegations further complicate a case that has already brought significant embarrassment to the city, including the unceremonious firing of Johnson, who was supposed to take up the charge of reforming the beleaguered department when he was appointed four years ago. Instead he was dismissed after being found asleep at the wheel on a city street, allegedly after a night of drinking, and then lying about it to Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
“My hope in coming forward publicly … is that other women who are also survivors of abuse and harassment by Superintendent Johnson and other male Chicago Police Department officers will have courage,” Donald said at a news conference Thursday.
This has the potential for MASSIVE embarrassment across the Department, seeing as how there are literally tens of dozens of instances of exempt members trading promotions and assignments for "favors." And yes, there have been female predators, too. The CPD is a cesspool of sex that would get anyone in the private sector fired in an instant. Sex is just another form of currency and it's been going on for decades.
We posted here years ago about the "no-tell motel" just north of HQ in 012 that was the site of numerous exempt sex-capades, involving female recruits from the Academy who were groomed by a well known cadre of lechers. But for the most part, we've tried to keep accusations of infidelity and philandering off the site because we didn't want to get dragged into court over allegations we could never verify. Plus, with the amount of filth we had to read through, we'd need to shower three times a day.

Reading the articles about Johnson absolutely proves that merit promotions need to be abolished. Or, at the very least given metrics someone has to meet to be considered for merit. I don’t know this Ozzy or anything about him but one thing is certain. IAD does not go after bosses or connected people. IAD is the CPD establishment. Twenty-plus years female CPD here. As a sexual assault survivor myself I have deep empathy for victims of all sex crimes. But when I entered the Academy in the 90's, I became aware that there were women on the job whose main motivation was to find a supervisor or boss willing to trade sex for a position or promotion. These women engaged in voluntary dating/sexual relationships with bosses in exchange for promotions or an inside spot so that they would not have to spend time on The Scary Street. This kind of bartering system has gone on unabated in every District and every unit I've ever worked in. Then, when the relationship goes south or the women doesn't get the promised promotion, etc., or gets dumped, she files a lawsuit claiming she was harassed or abused or assaulted.
This everyday blatant bartering system is disgraceful enough but what is truly disheartening is the fact that women are sexually harassed and abused and assaulted every day and this kind of behavior makes it hard for those true victims to be heard and believed.
Of course, this in no way excuses the behavior of the men involved. That's a post for another day. But as long as there are women who are willing to trade sexual favors for a work position or promotion, there will be men who use them for sex. If nothing else, I hope this lawsuit blows the lid off the whole sickening barter system that is rife in CPD.
instead of Eddie being grateful he got a second life with organ, he disgraces himself over and over and over and cost the tax payers MILLIONS. some people don't deserve a leadership position. Ok, there is an accusation of a sexual assault that involved 2 sworn personnel. A case report must be taken relating to the facts, statements are needed. Weather is is handled by the D-Unit or IAD, it must be investigated. I assume all statements made are video taped now.
If it is IAD, I would suggest statements under oath. If the "Victim" is found to be lying and submitting a false police report and making statements that are not true, she should be fired, period. During the process of the civil suit, statements under oath should be conducted by the city attorney also. Any contradictions should be used to impeach her.
I am no fan of Johnson, he was appointed to a job he could not handle and abused his position over and over again. Grounds for being fired were there many times. This is not what he was hired to do, but, Rahm looked for a good "fit" and this idiot hit the jackpot.

This is true, there’s an idiot sergeant in IAD named Luke Connelly who is in charge of the “advocates” In IAD. He walks around bragging about how he get bosses out of trouble. He says, “I’m the good guy, I get people off.” He’s useless. According to public records he has had 19 allegations of wrongdoing himself. Blue shirts don’t stand a chance with this nut.
