And in case you thought maybe carjackings were slacking off:
Four people were arrested early Wednesday after officers spotted them in a BMW that had been stolen hours earlier just south of Grant Park, according to Chicago police.
The four ran from the car when it was stopped near Augusta Boulevard and Lamon Avenue about 2:30 a.m. but were quickly taken into custody, police said.
Three guns were recovered from the car, police said, adding that two of the suspects were taken to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park “for what appeared to be shortness of breath.”

Most people who run from the police are short of breath when they get caught, didn't know that constituted some sort of medical emergency among today' yoots.
In my day (hell, even today), that was merely an indication of a good PT session. More than likely these yoots will claim an asthma condition, and sue the city for aggravating that condition by having some of their employees chase after them.

You forgot about the special task force that was formed a year or so ago after the rash of carjackings downtown and the one where the undercover officer was carjacked. It was formed with federal, state, county and local officers to stop the carjackings. So far the have slowed them to a 137% increase over last year

From a police supporter in Naperville. Apparently a car thief in a car stolen from downtown Chicago got pulled over in Lisle at 2am two nights ago. The guy stopped but then when police backup came the thief pulled off and was traveling down Ogden west (police gave chase) going 90 miles an hour only to turn at Naper to get on the highway and crash the car in the wall trying to get on I-88 westbound going back to the city There were 3 people in the car. One died in the crash The crime downtown is definitely spelling out of the city.
Seen on my neighbor app two male blacks at Lawrence and Milwaukee in Jefferson Park attempting car jacking. Also in 16th district massive catalytic converter thefts. And also this if I didn't see i wouldn't believe it but multiple vehicles left on cinder blocks full tires and wheels stolen. Not a cop just a high property tax paying schmuck in 16th district.

Ya, I hate liberals too but Illinois has no duty to retreat. The stand your ground law is not per statute in Illinois but the issue has been ruled upon at least twice by the Il Supreme Court, beginning in like 1902. The case law is so well established that the template for jury instructions in Illinois criminal court cases in which a defendant claims self-defense notes that "a person who has not initially provoked the use of force against himself has no duty to attempt to escape the danger before using force against the aggressor."
The reasons we have all these carjackings are:
#1 no chase police of the CPD
#2 juveniles are rarely held more than a day after being caught, and even if convicted later on, probably won't be locked up
#3 adults ARE eventually given a lot of time in Cook Co. if convicted, I know this goes against conventional wisdom but it's true. The problem is it takes 2 years to go to trial and nowadays the rats are given low bonds and they are free within a day or two.
I remember saying I could not care less if these rats are given low bonds - I don't want to pay to feed/shelter them in county. But I have changed my mind in light of the fact that it takes 2-3 years for these cases to go to trial.
But it has zero to do with Illinois not having a stand your ground law.

It stands to reason when you have black males responsible for most of the crime in a city that robberies of people for their vehicles ( that is what a car jacking is, robbery), would be committed by black males. It seems that this is a game for some of the younger set and it looks like Kim Foxx rarely charges anyone with a felony robbery, but only a misdemeanor for possessing a stolen motor vehicle also known as joy riding. And, you percentage, 98%, is a bit low.
