Hotlanta Disaster

Desperate times call for desperate measures:

  • The shooting death of a 7-year-old girl has prompted an alliance between police, politicians and businesses who are ramping up calls to establish a private security force to supplement the Atlanta Police Department.

The $1.62 million plan will address crime in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.

City Council members Howard Shook, J.P. Matzigkeit and Matt Westmoreland plan to allocate $125,000 of their municipal funds to the Buckhead Security Plan, a proposal for a private police force in the business district.

This sounds somewhat like what Groot was trying to force through where the Michigan Avenue merchants would "voluntarily" raise taxes on themselves to hire private security - probably that HLSA outfit run by retired Captain Robards-Dillon.

So it's not so much of a "defunding" as it is an additional cost of doing business.....but the connected get the money directly.

What the hell good is hiring "private security" going to do when these mutts laugh at sworn police officers and go right about their business of stealing, beating and marauding? Oh, yeah, big city politics is the same everywhere. Some connected jerk off gets to line his pockets and nothing changes.

It’s not defunding— just giving my buddies some cashola while I bump up taxes all over.

Looking forward for this city income tax gruit

Unless there's a commensurate payment into that police department's pension, that would be a hard 'no'.
It's basically hiring police to replace the actual sworn police.
A hard NO.

Even though Atlanta is chock full of shitty areas, Buckhead is absolutely gorgeous and is one of the 10 wealthiest communities in the country. Looks like I’ll soon be saying Buckhead USED TO BE absolutely gorgeous and ONCE WAS one of the 10 wealthiest communities in the country.

The ambulance chasing lawyers will have a hay day. You can bet your sweet ass the city that hired them will be paying out millions in additional lawsuits as well as the state.

The Rena-cops will be calling for PD backup on every call or stop which in turn adds additional burden to short handed departments. Then that scenario where renta-cops will be protecting the hoods and confronting cops to keep them out. I can see the turf wars coming.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out, but I’m sure mayors like lightfoot will have to hire high priced people to do a study.

Shit heads dont respect us all that much, but they respect rental cops less. They have “private security” at all these west side gas stations. Sometimes they’re helping sell dope, but the shit heads never respect them, never do anything they say, and if they testify, they’ll just kill them. Even though we have no respect, most of the shitheads aren’t looking to get into a shootout with us. They know that even still if they do that today, if they happen to make it out alive, that when we decide to get this big ol train moving, it’s hard to stop, no where for them to go.

Personally I'm not morally opposed to letting mercs and good ole boys take care of the problem if libbed-up city government can't cut it, but I'm a Southern fried asshole so of course I'd say that. It begs the question though: if the primary city services that one pays local taxes for are protection and sewer, and protection is being taken off the table for political reasons, why continue to pay the said taxes for greatly reduced benefit? What would be great is if some hellraisers started publicly accusing these political hacks of breaching their side of the social contract. But those with hellraiser potential are getting wise and relocating to more culturally defensible locations (i.e. not Chicago, Atlanta, etc.) so the shitty cities may just slide into irreversible decay.

In any case, it'll be interesting to see what all happens now that the dysfunction is seeping into the wealthy liberal districts accustomed to treating collectivist policy failures as an "over there" problem. All the fools who thought that voting the SlowJoeHo ticket would make all the bad news magically go away are in for a very rude awakening.

Back around 2004, 2005 there were a lot of shootings in Buckhead as bars let out. Someone proposed moving the closing times from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. It seemed sensible because people had less time to get toasted. The bar owners did not even complain much. One group however was against earlier closing hours and very vocal about it, black city councilmembers. They claimed the early closing hours would discriminate against black people. As a Neil Boortz used to say on an Atlanta radio station, "Nothing good happens after midnight!"

I'm not so sure this is a bad thing.
I'd be willing to bet the private security contractors (mercs) will have far more relaxed RoE, no requirement for con law training, no body cams, no paperwork.

APD will only get called to pick up the dead bangers and write paper on 'justifiable homicide - self defense'.

Atlanta's judicial system?

Just as with every Democratic run city (Chicago, New York, Baltimore, San Francisco, Los Angeles) Atlanta's judicial system appears to have implemented a program that promotes violence. The program is no one stays in jail and those that actually do go to prison only stay a relatively short time before being released.

Police recognize this judicial system. This type of judicial system seems to have flourished for decades in homes we have been called out to for Domestic Battery's and in the broader sense neighborhoods on the west and south sides of Chicago which we call 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 15 - the very neighborhoods that have more churches per square area than any other part of the state but account for the greater part of the violent crime statists.

Much like the people of these high crime districts our politicians act very concern, talk a good game and display for anyone who will watch a spectacle of spiritual wanting calling in God's name to come down and guide them to ever lasting peace. But after the cameras are off the politicians just like the ghetto go off and do what they want.

So now like so many other victims we have witnessed in these districts the media and woke voters will eventually become victims themselves to violence. Take care of your partner and family. As for the community, act like our news reporters and then write them good paper and move on.

Answer the Latin Kings.

Business owners should consider hiring the Latin Kings for protection - the LK will actually punished thieves, muggers, can't say the same about Chicago PD, DA Kim Foxx, Judge Tim Evans, Sherif Tom Darte.

Security guards are the answer? Unfortunately there are still plenty of rock’m sock’m hardchargers willing to get the job done but elected obstructionists don’t want that. Even (unarmed) security guards can find themselves in hot water, so this nutty proposal is just another ruse.

Guarding and monitoring isn’t working, then again neither are the mayors, prosecutors and judges.
It’s about jobs and kids and someone postering or pandering.
Covid’s is causing crime needs more Covid’s program money for more programs.

That $1.6 “alliance” they created is only going to benefit the preferred sub-contractor. $15hr guards are going to need an entire separate civilian administration with a couple few directors, asst. directors, etc. plus the onus and accountability will always be on the Atlanta PD when shit hits the fan again. But politicians will reform the reform and need $3.2 mil to retool the new program and still settle tenfold millions in lawsuits.

Why is it a police problem when the Mayors and Prosecutors refuse to jail the violent criminals?
Arrest has no impact when all legislative crated criminal laws that fill the annals are not followed and sentencing is beyond leniency.

Larri LightFührer still hasn’t addressed any active crime issue since last year and that was well before she shit-canned Slumpy SpecialEd.

The private security guys will be more like Blackwater operatives.
No use of force guidelines, no pursuit restrictions.
No body cams, no visible ID, full face coverings.
When they start stacking up up the bodies plenty of "evidence" will appear, showing it was pure self defense.
No charges will ever be filed . . . .

Buckhead is more or less the Gold Coast/ Lincoln Park of Atlanta. Peachtree Street, running from Colony Square ( South end) to Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square ( North end) is the 6 lane “ Main Street” of Buckhead. The only feasible solution is for Buckhead to secede from Atlanta and become an independent city. Buckhead was very nice during 1996 Atlanta Olympics

Atlantans better think about what they're asking for. Unlike the real police, a private security force is under no obligation to follow any constitutional mandates. They don't have to give a rip about individual rights. Thugs, or suspected thugs, may experience the "shoot first, take names afterward" type of justice (they probably deserve it in most cases). The security person who ends up killing someone will be the only witness to provide police with details, so I predict there will be a LOT of "self defense" killings in Buckhead in 2021.

Do we still have the Marquette Park area private security force funded by our Taxes? Don’t think for a minute this isn’t being considered here and I’m more massive scale a private police force currently I am retired and work for a security company with contracts in the city they have been talking about this for a while they’ve been high-level meetings about this get ready they’re about to do something! As you can clearly see they are decimating so many units even the Detective units they’re not even buying vehicles for they are renting shit asked Nissan and Toyota’s they’re not buying vehicles anymore nowhere near the page that they should watch the man behind the curtain watch the mayor in the Alderman getting paid off it’s coming get ready!

Lastly and very important hey FOP is anybody looking into the pension that is rapidly diminishing I know that after many phone calls the union president union reps refuse to look into it just wonder why we have how many retired guy still members of the union paying in? Is this pay for play we thought when Kevin was gone things will change I guess things just remain the same!

From what I could tell from a quick Google search there about 80,000 people live there and it's mostly a residential community, with some serious upscale malls.

Private security can do a lot, even without all of the special privileges that police have with respect to special privileges and immunities. Those things really aren't needed when operating in a protective role. It is hard for police to do that kind of work because it requires a certain level of cooperation with local businesses and government employees are not real good at cooperating. Just the nature of the beast.

The good people of Buckhead have been wanting to secede from Atlanta for some time. My guess is this plan has something to do with that. Buckhead supplies ungodly amount of tax revenue to Atlanta as a whole and doesn't get anywhere near the kind of services out of it that they pay into.

$1 million sounds like a lot, but in the end it might pay for two patrol cars 24/7.

No it is part of Atlanta. It pays an ungodly amount of taxes, but doesn't get much in the way of city services in comparison to the amount of taxes paid. This is probably some way to try and make up for that. I doubt it will work. Buckhead would be far better off being a separate municipality because it can do its own thing as opposed to being stuck with Atlanta. Atlanta is headed the same way as Detroit and Chicago.

I looked into this and the private security force will be staffed by off-duty Atlanta police officers paid for by the Buckhead Community Improvement District, an association of local business owners.Their actions will be supervised by the Atlanta Police Dept. So Atlanta will not even escape legal liability.

And to no great surprise, the lilly white Buckhead Community Improvement District voiced support for Black Lives Matter at the height of the riots that struck the rest of the country.
