Giving Away the Money
Something like this might make us want to quit:
- 2 units from 1st watch were in the hospital all night on prison detail,
for an outside unit. 1st watch Sgt. asked 2nd watch Lt if they could
send one 10-4 car from days to relieve them both and got yelled at
because she asked. Then 299 (Williams #709) gets the message to the zone that 2nd watch will not be giving relief to 1st watch in the hospital. Officers from 1st watch never got relief and were told they have to sit until the arrestees are released. 3rd watch officers came in early for traffic mission OT and offered to go to hospital but were initially told no. An hour and a half later they were finally allowed to go give 1st watch relief.
Remember when, in an effort to cut overtime, there was an effort to have oncoming watches in the Detective Division pass along in-progress cases to oncoming watches? Never mind that it destroyed continuity, broke up the rapport detective had built with victims, witnesses and even offenders, rendering countless cases un-prosecutable. That worked wonders for Clearance Rates across the board.
Now, you have dickhead lieutenants screwing over people who are already working midnights, sitting at hospitals at time-and-one-half, doing pretty much nothing FOR AN OUTSIDE UNIT and adding undue stress to their family lives for what - to prove you have a bigger dick than Groot?
Score one for you Lt.

Come on man, there must be another side of this story.
HW yelling at sergeants? Never. Another white shirt with 2 merit bumps under his belt. He was a merit sgt working at hq, got another merit bump to Lt and went back to hq. How he end up in 002?
Being forced to take your prisoner to the hospital for their medications that they haven’t taken in months sure does inspire me to run out there and lock up more prisoners! Let alone when you get saddled with someone else’s prisoner. Getting someone into the lockup sure has turned into a near impossible feat.
Outside unit needs to handle their prisoner guard detail. Please don’t dump it on the district.
Ya wanted to be in a unit, suck it up.
I’ll bet the unit had beards and backward baseball caps.
Out side units are worse then taco teams at this point. At least tact guys know how to do a case report.
F’-&-#* you Bro
This is what happens when you put idiots in positions of authority.
So if you had 2 officers guarding a prisoner was the prisoner high risk? I remember one man details. In any case leaving officers from the 1st watch who are dead tired is a safety risk. Plenty of other options.
Only way to get even is to utilize the medical. That’s all blue shirts have left. Bosses can keep their early ducks. Don’t bring in any activity you’re being used!
Fuck that punkass Lt. Williams. No doubt (s)he was never the police and likely a merit hack or product of a secret study group.
That said, it would behoove the officers who got stuck on that prisoner detail to hit the medical for a few days on top of checking the money box.
There’s more than one way to skin a pussy Lieutenant. You kids need to think outside the box and always win in the end. It really ain’t that hard, you just can’t allow these assholes to keep walking all over you. Most are cowards who will fold like a cheap suit at the first bit of resistance. Even those bossholes with minimal smarts will back off when they’re told “excuse me sir (ma’am), but you’re creating a hostile work environment. If you continue you’ll leave me no choice but to document this interaction and seek appropriate recourse”. Solidify this warning by ensuring you have a witness with you willing to drop corroborating paper.
Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
You’re welcome.
I’m on an “outside unit” and this sickens me. You get an arrestee, that’s YOUR fucking problem. YOU or YOUR team
sit on them at the hospital- not a district car. TAC has been doing this shit for years.
Perfect example of how the morale is in the tank.
That is what the CPD really needs! Kind hearted respectful leadership that really cares about the little people, and wants to make their lives better. /sarc
Chicago politicians looking for the root cause of crime.
Whelp CPD is run by CTU. CTU/CPS who in turn indoctrinates kids with Marxist hopeless victim based critical race theory crap. Gee wonder how the mob got that way they are?
CTU has all the bases cover.
The mayor came from CPS and now runs CPD endorses the CRT and persecutes CPD Does anyone really think this is an accident or these people are that stupid? Where their any mayoral candidates that did not come from CPS? Paul Vallas was from CPS.
Boredom is 9/10ths of it.
The remaining 1/10th is either irritating or insanely invigorating.
This sounds like a boring and irritating experience.
Were there to be shitheads flipping out, nix the boring part.pp
Fuck that…make the outside unit sit on their own prisoner. I don’t care if you’re narcotics or CST….watch your own shit
Even if no boss acts like a jerk there are plenty of inconsiderate coppers who do which is ridiculous. It's funny how they say the department is a brotherhood, at least for me it never was. There are so many self-centered people on this job and don't give a damn for other officers. I've seen it too many times in 23 years. In their mind is all about me,me,me, and no one else.
299 (Williams #709) - merit lieutenant who never hit a district after lieutenant class but remained in HQ. Until he got dumped a few weeks ago. Now he's a district problem.
This is absolutely outrageous. A number needs to be generated.
This is idiot merit Lt Herb Williams. A Carter merit promotion who was sent to a unit upon making Lt six months ago. They sent him to 002 and he was put on days to get some patrol experience. Absolutely useless and clueless but what do you expect.
Herb Williams. Merit bozo who is part of the club. All day stupid who will be a commander soon.
Pretend Commander Phillips what do you think of this?
That’s why I did nothing for my last 10 years on the job except drive around hoping to get rear ended by a CTA bus.
another merit hack at it again
The Lt would be none other than new merit Lt Herb Williams. Dumb as fuck.
So it is safe to say that 299 is a Merit Lt and Merit Sgt as well?
Good ol’Herb Williams. Definition of a merit hack. Yet again, people who never did anything on this job, get handed promotion after promotion then crush morale because they are clueless. Eliminate merit already, you might have a chance to then fix the department.
I'M Retiring in 5 months!
Moving out of Illinois to Tennessee!
Fuck this police dept. and city!
BYE!!!!
Detectives can't sit on prisoners because the fact that their pants never match their sport jackets would violate hospital policy.
Any truth to the 007th Dist CAPS Sgt going to the 002nd Dist to release her nephew after he was arrested with a gun during the large youth incident at 31st St Beach?
Lt Herb Williams didn’t score anything. Another merit drop in to the 002nd district. Will soon be and exempt because he’s to incompetent to be the WOL. Sound familiar Pendarvis, James, Joshua, etc??? Common theme over there.
I know all about “giving away the money”.
On top of a very bloated salary for contributing next to nothing, I reap the benefits of comped meals, dry cleaning, travel stipends, healthcare coverage and vehicle maintenance (to name just a few) courtesy of Lodge 7 members’ dues money.
PROMOTING INCOMPETENCE !!!
We have a lot of IDIOTS and I’m not
talking about Blue Shirts I’m talking
about the Incompetent Supervisors !!!
Yup you are reading this correctly…
A Tyrant not a boss. If this so called WC can't handle is simple decision like this we have to hope no decisions about MAJOR LIFE AFFFECTING situations are made by this so called boss.
reminds me of a great old movie "The Caine mutiny " check it out
Defund the White Shirts. Name names or at least initials.
Remember Very Well just pass the case off, and “Just put hold papers,” for tomorrow. Both messing up the investigations. All you hear is the talking points in the media now, we only have 7% detectives compared to other big cities. BUT IT didn’t stop the bosses from restricting overtime and messsing up the investigations over and over.
I'm positive--promoted merit Sgt and Lt--U know--just another POS
Sounds like a merit hack!
This job used be run by men and women who not only had balls , but also had some common sense. This new regime of incompetent frat boys and sorority sisters of Eddie Johnson feel like they need to reinvent the wheel and do all sorts of dumb shit just to prove they can make a decision. You sure can make a decision , however it’s the wrong decision 99.9% of the time. How did you make your rank ??? Right … double and triple meritorious promotions and never really did this job.
Just shows the individuals running this place: it’s easy there is people who want overtime, how about JUST asking does anyone want to sit at hospital and make overtime. Bet there might be a volunteer. Maybe officers there wanted it, but if not this is why officers leave.
Look who the Commander is of 002. She was a Sgt a year ago. Made Lt and because she actually did by score u gots to make her an exempt a week later. That’s right y’all this nitwit was hiding in the Sdsc room one year ago and now she’s a Commander. How fucking ridiculous.
I'M Retiring in 5 months!

Always happy to read a CPD retirement success story. Thanks for posting Sir and enjoy life as it should be enjoyed.
Are there 3 merit bumps out there. Name a few.
His first day on 2nd watch in 002, tells officers that roll call starts at 0600hrs “you get paid to be here at 0600hrs so that’s when roll call starts, if you don’t like it find another job”. All with a smile on his face. Oh and don’t forget he’s here to help the officers on the street. Morale at its finest.

Not only that, but it was also ran by individuals who actually spent some time in the ranks, and actually learning their jobs as they progressed, rather than these merited clowns who have skyrocketed to the top.
Detectives can't sit on prisoners because the fact that their pants never match their sport jackets would violate hospital policy.
----------‐--------
Know why? They have to gather video, type up a possible warrant (s), interview witnesses, take case to state under 48hrs. etc, and got promoted over you.
8/20/2023 11:36:00 AM
Exactly! Im sure you would have a couple OT whores jump at that gig.
8/20/2023 07:30:00
LMFAO> Classic. I can relate.
Didn’t Supt. Snelling just give a long statement about how the CPD leadership has to start treating cops nicely? If Snelling really meant this and stays true to his word, then he won’t be happy with this Lt. Unless of course the Lt is connected. I’d like to see Snelling start clipping any of the bosses that are complete assholes. Lord knows there are a lot.
8/20/2023 :01:14:00 AM
100% correct. That was my main go 2. Fuck them

I don’t know this guy but didn’t Snelling say something about not treating cops like shit anymore? Let’s see if Larry stays true to his word going forward and punishes asshole bosses. I’m sure he knows who they are.
I used to work outside units and it always amazed me how districts hated us. They felt like only they mattered and forgot that we too are Chicago police. We came to their rescue countless times for 10-1s and backed them up when needed. We also used to clean up after ourselves though and sit on our own prisoners. The only thing I can think of here is the prisoner needed a hospital run after outside unit left which is now district's responsibility. My point is don't forget you're all on the same team. Don't let the mayor and bosses drive a wedge
Just a couple of years ago 002 had a great crew of sergeants on days (Exept that idiot caps Sgt). 1 retired 1 went to HQ. 1 went to the D the other is now the commander of 002.
Retired Lieutenant here, and I worked in the Deuce for many years. That is disgusting to here. They would have gotten a relief. Those officers should hit the medical tonight! SM
SCC:
" to prove you have a bigger dick than Groot?"
"Have" or "are"?
There's no reason to be a dick, unless you have to be a dick.
This story, unless there's more to it, sounds like the LT went out of his way to be a huge dick.
M - E - D - I - C - A - L
Even better IOD for a month.
TAX FREE.
Fuck 'em.
He once as a sgt, ordered two other sgts, one was in gangs and one was on tact, not to enter a residence on a burglary in progress.
The sgts promptly told him what he could do and two offenders were caught.

Your “outside unit” story is completely irrelevant to what happened. Glad you’re proud of being in an outside unit. I suppose you rode in an elevator with Eddie May too.
Tool....

Any unit wanna volunteer for a hospital detail?
If it's crickets
Check shzt list
Send the 2 most dingdong officers
Case closed

That's your take away? You must be one Herb's retards. Guy gets the answers but was too dumb to score in the top 50, so let's put him in a unit immediately after he's been in a unit as a Sgt his whole career. Good idea. Take that motherfucker back to 35th to be a useless pimp.
Screw 002 and it’s misery. There’s one good Lt in that building.. SH and alls she does is take care of people. Otherwise it’s filled with a bunch of kool aid drinkers who thing that running 20 missions per tour is going to actually do something and stop crime. Despicable.

That's been the ISP model for the last 20.
Fucking batteries in the radios don’t last fucking 16 hours. Fuck these scumbag white shirts. All of them. Fucking cops sitting there with no radios that work. Shit don’t go south in. Hospital? Fuck you lieu
Retired lieutenant? Thanks for letting us know. I was impressed. Not really.
God help the good men and women of 002.
With the new commander, this stroke of a Lt
and Capt, I mean Re-lieutenant margolis,
they don’t stand a chance!
Question: Is the “ Outside Unit” CPD or a County, State, or Federal Agency?
I'd say the solution to that is for Midnights to stop sending the Prisoners for medical clearances, and let days deal with it when they get in. If they get rejected from court then not only will days have to take the Prisoner to the hospital, but they'll have to go through the effort of obtaining a Duty Judge much if th time. It won't be long before days will be more appreciative and cooperative... just sayin
It seems the bulk of the shittiest bosses always are in 002. I recently had training and this Herb guy was there. He stood out because he was wearing a mask. The weirdest thing was is that he’d keep it on for 45 minutes then take it off for a half hour, then put it back on. WTF! Can someone explain that logic? Only a merit man can.
To the RETIRED LIEUTENANT, Go Fuck yourself! You’re nothing, just like the rest of us. Btw I’m a retired CAPTAIN, OF THE PATROL BOYS! Stock school class of 1975
