Another copper, this time a lieutenant from Seattle, blasts the political structure that has decimated policing in blue cities:

• SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: Lieutenant Jessica Taylor, who dedicated 23 years to the Seattle Police Department, bid her farewell with an unapologetic letter addressed to the police chief.

  In a scathing 15-page note, Taylor held Chief Adrian Diaz accountable for a litany of failings, accusing the department of becoming a circus with "boisterous clowns running amok."

  Her candid critique extended to the Seattle City Council, which she labeled "absurd." She also called the mayor "spineless," and blasted the prosecutor's office for being overly lenient.

  In the searing missive, Taylor highlighted the department's toxic environment, describing her time there as "soul-draining." She didn't hold back on the city's law enforcement, asserting that their failure was clear and that they had let down the public.

We've had a few officers of assorted ranks lambast the bad joke that CPD has become. It's usually someone who made rank somewhat legitimately, but then their careers dead-ended because they were never part of the connected crew. If you make rank legit (or semi-legit) you usually don't owe anyone a favor and therefore, favors are going to be hard to come by.

You want proof? Name a commander or above who made a testable rank by score. There are a few....but it's difficult, isn't it? Because something like 85% of the command staff was handed a "meri-clout-orious" promotion for who they knew, who they blew or who they were related to.

The Department knows it's a crooked process and tried like Hell to make it look legit, such as when Eugene whats-his-name had that secret study group at HQ that taught directly from the test....and Nakia Fenner's entire bridal party scored top twenty. Nothing suspicious there!

Snelling is probably going to be the next supernintendo, and he didn't make a single rank by test score, serving the vast majority of his time inside at the Academy. How much time did he spend at each rank and in what capacity? Because if you don't spend a few years at each position, how do you know what that role is supposed to be? And now you're running the show?

"Boisterous clowns" is too generous a description of Seattle.
