Yesterday, we listed government generated debacles that promised to alleviate the billions in debt the State currently carries at many levels - Hired Truck, the parking meter "deal," the future casino.
We forgot a few: The Skyway, the lottery and this one:
Illinois cannabis sellers sold $140 million worth of weed in July, the highest monthly total so far in 2023.
The majority of the cannabis sales were to state residents, totaling $104.3 million. Out-of-state customers bought $35.6 million worth of product, according to sales figures from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

July’s total was the second-all-time highest monthly sales in Illinois. State retailers sold $143.9 million in December 2022. Sales totaled $1.5 billion for all of 2022.
Another largish revenue stream directed at lord knows what and not at the ever expanding mountain of debt.

Weed companies came in, first thing the guys from ascend weed company did was cut security to save cash, that is why so many part time coppers and retired quit, plus the pay zero raises over 8 years! weed is big money for the elected as they get their campign contributions and the company owners for the workers they give them a big fu!
We did not need legalized recreational drugs at a time when so much social change is occurring. Remember during the pandemic when the pot business was considered a necessary trade product and allowed to stay open?
