Baby Out with Bathwater

In this age of computers and AI, the City is taking a giant step backwards with this dumb idea:

• The Chicago Police Department’s error-filled gang database would be permanently scrapped — and any future information-collecting on city street gangs would have to pass muster with a civilian oversight panel — under a long-awaited crackdown poised for approval Thursday.

  The Community Commission on Public Safety and Accountability will take a major step toward honoring one of Mayor Brandon Johnson’s campaign promises — at the same meeting where Chicagoans will get their first crack at questioning Counterterrorism Chief Larry Snelling, the mayor’s choice to become Chicago’s permanent police superintendent.

Someone gets shot, you want to know who their associates are, their friends, their enemies, the people (or folks) who are either going to retaliate or be retaliated against. It makes actual sense. But the commies and lib-tards are hamstringing that ability for what is essentially revenge for sloppy record keeping. 

Everyone is collecting data - social media companies, advertisers, phone companies, etc., all to better serve (and exploit) their customers. But to develop and maintain a database that might alleviate violence and save the lives of some high-risk minority yutes, well we can't have that!

And quite frankly, we're finding it difficult to even care at this point.
