Latest rumor:
- The city is looking for any usable structure that can be adapted to house illegals. Might be for hundreds like the Armory or USMC facility up north. Might be a largish stretch of vacant land like the 12th Ward is learning about. Maybe a few hundred at various closed schools or churches. Might be a small storefront that can be scaled-up to house twenty or thirty persons, like the abandoned CVS Pharmacies at 103/Kedzie or 111th/Western that might be being outfitted as shelters. Rumor is the aldercreature gave BJ those addresses when BJ demanded everyone give him an option or two in their Wards.
Any reports from the ground over that way?

How about the 100 or so half empty high schools?

As someone who grew up in Chatam/Avalon Park in the 50's I nominate Hirsch High school, only 200 students now in a three story full squate block building somplee with showers, food faclities and maybe the basement rifle ROTC rilfe range is still there, also directly across from Grnad Crossing Park for exercise, bbqs and sunbathing in the summer.
Also anywhere in Hegewisch. Should the migrants become a problem pull up the bridge and let the real residents settle their hash.

The Obama Center will consist of four buildings. Construction is ongoing for the museum tower, a Chicago Public Library branch and a forum with an auditorium, recording studio, meeting places and an indoor winter garden. The Chicago library branch should not be confused with the official Obama Presidential Library, which is run by the National Archives and Records Administration and for now is in Hoffman Estates.
The fourth building will be built where the trailers and tent stand. That building will be a combined programs and athletic center, separate from the three other structures. It will have space for large conferences and be what the foundation calls the “recreational hub” of the south part of the campus since it will be adjacent to the new athletic field. The field is a short stroll away from the YMCA and high school, intended to be a resource for the community.
The design has changed since the project started. In May, the foundation announced that the gymnasium and other parts of the building would grow. Healey said the structure will now be 44,000 square feet, up from the original 28,000 square feet.
The gym will have an NBA-regulation basketball court, not surprising since the hoops-loving Obama has a passion for basketball.
After climbing a makeshift staircase, I’m on top of the roof of the garage and looking north to the top of the library, forum and the tower, not yet at its full height.
Eventually, the roofs of the garage, library and forum — 2.3 acres in all — will be landscaped, park-like green space. One feature will be a fruit and vegetable garden, paying homage to Michelle Obama’s famous garden on the South Lawn of the White House.
The garage will hold 437 cars. Part of it is 25 feet below street level. Extensive shoring up and waterproofing was needed because the lower part of the structure is below the water table.

A man found stabbed at the Addison Red Line station last night told Chicago cops that he was attacked by a migrant who emerged from a tent erected in front of the nearby Town Hall (19th) District police station.
Also overnight, Chicago police responded to a group of up to 15 people fighting in a migrant tent city across from the Albany Park (17th) District police station around 3:21 a.m.
In a media statement, CPD said police “responded to a call for service and spoke with a 21-year-old male victim who related to officers that an unidentified male offender punched him before fleeing the scene on foot.”
The statement did not mention a fight, that the incident occurred in a migrant camp, or that the police station’s front desk staff was among those reporting the incident.
