What's a Couple Billion?
Here's a story from three weeks ago:
MANTENO, Ill. (WAND) - Governor JB Pritzker and Gotion announced the company’s decision to locate its new state-of-the-art $2 billion electric vehicle (EV) lithium battery manufacturing plant in Manteno.
Gotion's decision was bolstered by an REV Illinois (Reimagining Energy and Vehicles) incentive package and the new Invest in Illinois fund.
The plant is expected to begin production in 2024.
This is a Communist Chinese company. But hey, governor Porky is a democrat, democrats are basically communists, communists run China. And what's $2 billion to a state in debt hundreds of billions?
This guy is supposed to be good at business, right?
But here's a headline from last week:
The Ford Motor Company announced Monday that it is pausing construction on a massive electric battery plant in Michigan that involved a Chinese EV battery company. Notably, the plan had been originally considered for Virginia, but Gov. Glenn Youngkin opposed it due to China's potential influence in the plan, arguing that "CATL and the Chinese Communist Party would have full operational control over the technology."
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer had no such qualms, however, and welcomed the plant with open arms as her state government pumped $1 billion into the project.
So Michigan is dumping $1 billion into a plant that Ford is backing away from as Ford is losing hundreds of millions on it's EV's and the UAW is realizing Ford is slowly making union workers extinct.
Something smells rotten across the Rust Belt.

The plan was to send Chinese workers (probably managers and supervisors) to live and work at these plants. The Democrats may send the migrants there to replace American workers.

JB Pritker is/was lackluster 3rd-generation silver-spoon dolt. His governorship is mere toy, bought and paid-for. Electric cars are the ultimate in throw away disposable vehicle technology. The batteries wear out in three, five, maybe seven years and 50,000 -70,000 miles. You have to replace the entire battery pack. How many people are going to spend $20,000 on a new battery in a 5 year old car? A car full of electronics that are also failing? How much does that cracked LCD display cost to replace too?
Sure, maybe you replace that first battery pack? But what about the second time? At about 100,000 - 120,000 miles on a 10 year old car? Sure, rich people can afford it? You and your wife making middle class money with a couple kids and a house? And then do it next year on the wife's car too?
After they go broke in three years?
Remember, this is a Communist Chinese Company.
The EPA will come in and declare the whole place a Superfund pollution site.

Ford did a test on an electric vehicle the CEO of Ford drove the vehicle and found out trying to get it charged was ridiculous! Motor trend magazine just did a test on the same Ford F150 Ev and were disappointed, when they stop the rear wheels totally lock up, so if your on say a highway you better pray you can get out of that kill vehicle when it gets rear ended. You cannot push them to the side even,move them out of the way!Oh and don't forget the special procedures to try and put out a fire when the batteries explode truth hurts yes, but truth is real!

You know the difference between a electric drill and a cordless drill. A electric vehicle runs on direct current like a cordless drill, They are not electric cars they are battery operated cars but calling them electric sounds better.

That's presuming you can still GET a battery pack for your 5 year old fancy-shmancy EV car! I want to say a year or two ago, there was a story about a young lady who bought a used Volt (I think,) well, the battery didn't hold a charge for anything. So, she went to a dealership about getting a replacement and was basically told "that battery isn't made anymore, you're out of luck, sorry. Maybe you can get one from a 3rd party, have a nice day."
So, she looked. She could get a replacement from a 3rd party. For more than she paid for the car originally and by a significant margin.

The internal combustion engine can run on many substances, liquid or gaseous in nature.
Carburation/fuel injection for gasoline as fuel.
Fuel injection for diesel.
Pulse Metered for gases, natiral gas, propane, etc.
Gasoline fuel requires spark, as do gaseous fuels.
Diesel does not.
The science/physics is proven, effective, efficient and gets the job done.
Electric powered vehicles are toys.
Huge mass, heavy, expensive, unproven to be effective, efficient and proven to be not capable of getting the job done.
Toys.
Hell, you can even run an internal combustion engine on cow and pig farts, aka, methane gas.
An enterprising young buck, or doe, could hook up the buttholes of the politicals and produce abundant quanties of ass gas, to be sold at market value, to run the internal combustion engines on the lawn mowers, weed whackers, edge trimmers and the like, used by these newly arrived landscapeing employees.
Tube fed with mushed chili bean swill, the outputs of useful ass gases would rival the cow and pig farts.

The US auto industry (and their many feeder industries) are only run ostensibly by company management. The real owners and controllers of these companies has been the US Regulatory State for decades.
The C-Suites are bought-off with big pay packages independent of company results and the trade is they bow to the Regulatory State on policies and company strategic direction (think Green New Deal). If they don't play along, watch how fast the IRS and FBI start investigating C-levels at these companies.
This is all just Economic Fascism. Call it Corporatism if you like, same thing.
