- someone in Chicago is killed every 13 hours and 29 minutes
That works out to just over 8 casualties a day, 1.7-ish who end up dead.

Gang violence in London has seen knife crime reportedly surge at its fastest rate in five years, with over 40 incidents logged with police per day, according to an analysis conducted by a top British broadsheet.
A report from The Telegraph newspaper has claimed that over 200 gangs are operating in the British capital, with around 46,000 members at their disposal, some of whom are as young as ten years old.
The prevalence of criminal gangs and inevitable turf wars and other disputes have contributed to increasing violence on the streets of London, with knife crime rising at its quickest pace in five years and gun crime rising by six per cent over last year.
Forty-three incidents of "knife violence" per day....five times Chicago's reported gun rate.

The legal length for a non-locking, folding blade is 3inches/7.62cm
A knife with legal length can still be deemed an offensive weapon if it can perceived as such by someone else
Locking folding knives, fixed blade knives and knives longer than 3inches/7.62cm are all illegal for carry in a public place without a further defence
It is the duty of the person carrying the knife to know and understand the law – ignorance is not a defence

London’s population is 4 times that of Chicago. So it’s pretty much toe to toe as far as violence goes. It’s just the means that’s different.

London has 8.9 million to Chicago’s 2.6 million population , so not as out of whack as it seems. It’s huge and probably better to compare to New York than Chicago.
I had to go there for work a few years ago. Some impressions: where are the “English” people? Seem to be a minority in their own country. And fucking graffiti everywhere, especially in the central city, business, and tourists areas.
Regarding knives, there had been some big newsworthy attacks right before we went. A restaurant out in the suburbs where we stayed refused to give us knives. If I wanted my chicken cut I’d either have to pull it apart with a knife and spoon or give to them to take back in the kitchen. Kind of like our gun control. Hobbling the innocent law abiding people for cosmetic “doing something”. To be fair the Brit’s we were working with said they had never seen that before.
Correction about English restaurant not giving knives: I was expected to use fork and spoon to pull my chicken apart or give it to them to take back in kitchen to cut.
Regardless of the rates per population I was mentioning, SCC the point you bring up that animals will find a tool to kill no matter what you outlaw, is true. Sometimes cliches are valid because they’re based in fact: “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”.
