Chicago Police were reportedly prompted by an order from Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to stand down as pro-Palestinian protesters, organized by the "U.S. Palestinian Community Network," brought traffic to a standstill in Chicago on Dec. 23.
A caravan of nearly 100 vehicles disrupted traffic on I-190 and Mannheim Road near O'Hare International Airport, causing a temporary standstill before roads were reopened.
The demonstrators obstructing traffic near O’Hare changed slogans such as "No Christmas as Usual."

I knew a merit sergeant who was on a leave of absence to run his security company. He was telling everyone he will make merit lieutenant soon so he will have to come back from his leave. That is just what happened. Soon, he was a captain. The promotion system of CPD is totally corrupt and under Johnson and Larry it will become worse as they want all promotions to be totally or partially merit.
Why put us through FFO Training if what we only do is stand down??? Waste of time.

Civilian here living in Beat 1024. In the past 7 years at this address I think I've seen a 1024 beat tag... twice?
My hunch is Districts are so understaffed that no supervisors bother to assign beat cars anymore. At least in these working class neighborhoods that lack political capital, that is.
During the Covid $pandemic some poor copper got it jammed up him for trying to enforce distancing guidelines against a woman walking her dog by herself on the beach.
Maybe he could have handled it better. But he lost his job for trying to do his job.

That section is a mishmash of authorities, some belong to IDOT and ISP District Chicago, out of Des Plaines, the toll roads belong to the Tollway Authority, ISP District 15 out of Oak Brook. A small section there is unincorporated, so Cook County Sheriff's police, and then part is the Chicago corridor to grab Ohare, and then Rosemont too. I'm sure everyone was pointing at each other, "it's on your side" just like every other incident close to any border area.
This department is a joke. Looks like the summer of 2024 will be a repeat of summer 2020. Expect to see a lot of white-shirts on their cellphones pleading with higher-ups on what to do while protesters bring the city to a standstill. Unfortunately a lot of coppers are going to get hurt by entitled protesters seeking retribution for the 1968 DNC. Was going to a WXRT venue at the Salt Shed on Elston yesterday when I noticed what appeared to be over 100 male migrants milling about directly across from the shed. It was like a Venezuelan Porgy and Bess going on over there. I immediately crossed the street with my elderly mother in law to avoid their nonsense. My mother in law took a tumble in front of the Salt Shed and fractUred her arm. Needless to say we missed the show to seek medical attention for her injury. As i escorted her back to the car it frosted my ass to think it was because the shit show going on over there that we crossed the street and went over a higher step leading up to the Salt Shed’s property where she fell. I did my 30 years and have been retired the last couple but i can say that this shit going on out here is just fucked up. These fools running amuck is only going to get worse.
