Another multi-billion dollar company thinking of fleeing?
United Airlines continues to take steps toward a potential move of its corporate headquarters from Chicago for Denver. While the move isn’t a done deal – and would be several years away – the Chicago-based carrier has already purchased land and has now filed planning documents with Denver officials.
The Denver Post reports the airline has filed plans with the City of Denver indicating potential uses for 113-acres the airline recently purchased near Denver’s airport. United has acknowledged it’s expanding its flight simulator and pilot training base on the site; but the new filing also says, “United is actively investigating programmatic needs to support corporate campus activity accommodating 5,000 employees in future phases of the project.”
United employs nearly 5,000 corporate employees in Chicago.
"Keeping their options open" is the phrase bandied about.....like the Bears option on the Arlington Heights property.
We're pretty sure they'll be gone before Conehead's next election run.

United had 29 floors at the Willis tower before COVID, and monitored all UA flights around the world from the tower. COVID and the flood that knocked out the tower for an extended period of time caused all that to change with United abandoning their monitoring and offices. They have however arrived at a deal with Blackstone who now owns the tower luring them back, but no where near the thousands that worked there previously. Before COVID Willis had 12K people a day going through it. They have a couple thousand now.
