We've heard good and bad about this guy, but he obviously isn't dumb:
When Mayor Brandon Johnson chose City Hall lifer Rich Guidice to serve as his chief of staff, it sent a reassuring message to the business community and everybody else wary of the most progressive mayor in Chicago history.
A seasoned veteran who knows city government like the back of his hand would be steering the ship through transition waters.
The fact that police officers and firefighters among the most leery of Johnson knew and trusted Guidice from his tenure as executive director of the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications was an added plus. They assumed that Guidice, who has seen Chicago through countless special events, would guide the new mayor and Chicago through the Democratic National Convention in August and all of the protests that come with it.
On Thursday, Guidice abruptly pulled the plug on those assumptions. After nearly 33 years, he’s leaving city government to start a new job in April that he refused to identify.
Rumor is he saw the election results AND the non-existent plans for the DNC and then he "noped" the Hell out of City Hall.
And he's just the first of many if rumors are to be believed.

That rumor is total BS. I know Rich very well. This Chief of Staff gig was always a very short tenured and that was known to the mayor. Remember, for better or worse, Rich is a political functionary and like anyone in his position- always looking 3 steps ahead. The very, very select few who truly own the keys to the city demanded a person such as Rich take that job to ease BJ (who did not expect to win) into that office to calm multiple constituencies.
as for Daley, he had like 15 or 17 of them or something. it's a high pressure job and it's not easy on the person who takes it.

he began spotting various objects in the rough seas of the new administration which went unheeded to Captain BLM and the
crew, as they were in a daze of lunatic progressive socialism. Then Guidice saw the largest object of all and they were on a
collision course with it. He sounded the bells and shouted “DNC RIGHT AHEAD!!!!” and fled to the deck where saw other crew
members arranging the deck chairs into a peace circle. He tried warning them but they just smiled back with that dazed left
wing look. Reports say Guidice will survive via a lifeboat if he can get farther away from the USS Brandon before the sinking.
He is going to the County of Cook or the State of Illinois.
Numerous members of the CPD command staff may also be hitting the button before the DNC. Get the popcorn machine ready.

This article calls Johnson the most progressive mayor in Chicago history. Progressivism is a political philosophy that holds that it is possible to improve human societies through political reform or through government mandates. NOTE: improve human societies. Johnson's policies are just the opposite of improvement. His policies and those of other "liberal" idiots in NY, LA and Oakland, to name a few, seek to destroy civil society not improve it.

Yes, this has been in the works for over three years or so. They are eliminating the FOPs money base, and the only sworn jo s will be in patrol and the D unit. Even then, they will have civilian cold case detectives and others. The sworn headcount will drop to under 7k soon. The academy will be almost all civilian soon. Enjoy leaning use brought to you by college professors. You can tank the FOP for this since they seem all fine with eliminating union jobs, as long as it was for retired officers. However it won't be for much longer.

As a veteran of the 1968 DNC I can attest to the fact that it was a violent, chaotic event but the Mayor at the time, Richard J Daley, defended the CPD loudly and proudly when Senator Abraham Ribicoff (?) called the police Nazi Stormtroopers. I was there at the bandshell, there at the Whole World is Watching event at Balboa & Michigan, there when the DMC delegates at the Conrad Hilton hotel were hanging out the windows calling us pigs and throwing bottles out the windows at the cops and National Guard troops. There when they were dumping waste baskets full of water on the cops and NG on the sidewalk. I was a young cop, 21, and this was going to be my first chance to vote, yes you had to be 21 back then, in November 1968. That event turned me into a lifelong Republican, thanks democrats. I am fervently hoping that the 2024 DNC is 5 x worse, a gigantic crap show. Be safe officers but it’s gonna be a rough ride.

At Chicago’s last Dem. Convention, there was a fenced in area reserved for demonstrators to safely do their thing. The CPD has not yet designated such a space this time, but it appears that Brandon will have to rent and securely fence in a vacant lot from Jerry Reinsdorf who has spent the last year buying up every available piece of land near the United Center. Also, rumor is that Brandon is going to pay to clean up the failed immigrant housing site at 39th and California that he leased from Al Sanchez. This contaminated industrial site apparently has been designated as ‘hazardous’ by the EPA. The gifts just keep on coming.

Two weeks ago Fri.
Was in St Joes, i called out there talked to him momentarily. Moved from ICU to a room, he was beat from pt.
I promised to call and go out there, and when i called before driving out to Joliet he was discharged. I do not have his phone number, not sure where he is living.. was working as a part time court security officer for Will County Sheriffs police

I worked with Guidice when I was detailed to 911 for health reasons( you doubters can refrain from dogass comments, I was physically fucked up).Hes not a bad guy but obviously heavier than whale shit. He probably saw the complete shitshow coming and decided to say Adios, but I dont doubt he will land in some primo job. Hes not that old to sit around and play with his richie(unlike the main raider of our pension).
He will just come back in September and be in charge of build back better after they burn down the loop. Just resting up for the big job.
Rich was offered 200K to work for another security company but landed a big job with BlueStar security which is police owned and operated.
Gudice is a arrogant POS JUST LIKE SOMEONE SAID HERE, WAY OVER RATED , I'm out of the City Now Retired , and Guidice was just a KISS ASS with Bigger people he just Wanted to get to Know and rub shoulders with to be their BUTT BUDDY LOL , He didn't do NOTHING GREAT for this City , Just barley did his JOB , JUST KISSED ASS to try and Get ahead ,THANK GOD HES GONE , WEAK , NEVER A MAN
