- When Chicago hosted it's last convention in 1996, the police department here was comprised of 13,032 sworn officers. This August the number will be far fewer: nearly 1,500 fewer officers available to keep the peace than in 1996.
The last official count of CPD sworn officer is 11,591. That is 1,150 below what the city is budgeted to hire.
Retirement and lack of interest are some of the reasons the police payroll has plummeted. Just five years ago, there were more than 13,000 men and women in blue.
For Chicago's Superintendent of Police Larry Snelling, staffing for the Democratic National Convention couldn't be more crucial.
Cuck Goudie has top billing on this story, which is pretty much smoke being blown up someone's ass.
No one is going to tell the media what the actual plans are, and it's really no secret that not only are the "official numbers" down by 1,150 bodies, the number of house-mouses since 1996 has nearly tripled, which means street strength is something around 6,500 divided across three watches in 22 Districts.
Count on being outnumbered.

The real reason is being down 1150 bodies is a yearly savings of 100 million a year. More money for progressive projects.
1,150 lower than the department is budgeted for.
Just some quick math, but 1,150 multiplied by an average salary of $89,000 (the salary after 18 months/end of PPO status- in reality the average might be higher) is a little over $102 MILLION dollars in savings.
Where is that money?
Outnumbered requires reference point of purpose.
Reference point of purpose is not the same depending upon point of view of those being the definers of said variety of purposes.
The few presumptions that may apply here:
1. Those instigating violences want police to be violent.
2. Those promoting violence, ditto.
3. Those wanting no violence, the police, the residents of the areas most prone to being effected, those sane and those weary of all of this shit, etc.
4. Those benefitted by the insanes' violence, in a variety of ways, none intrinsically similar to each other, and not benifitted by police actions of counter violence, the conflicting agendas are numerous.
Determine your individual reference points and determine your choices by them.
"Sworn officers" includes a bunch of white shirts that will never be an actual part of the real manpower of the department. Just another way they manipulate the numbers to make things seem better than they actually are.

all 1st watch officers are working 1900-0700.
all 2nd watch officers are working 0700-1900.
all 3rd watch officers are on the front lines.
all 4th watch officers are on the front lines. That means every TAC team, area team, caps, dco, mass transit TAC, airport TAC.
all bike officers will deploy out of 3 locations/ mccormick place, millennium park and Malcolm X college/united center.
academy people will be on the front lines- and speaking of academy, zero word yet on what to do with recruits- rumor is they’ll be hidden in the academy and doing e-learning for 4 days.
United center interior is all Feds and some counterterrorism people.
Feds have 450+ for interior
Milwaukee is sending us 75 officers.
sheriffs are supposed to help. dart is shutting down EM for the entire week and using 120+ for this. Brown clowns aka sheriff police will be there but they’re 90% mouth breathers so don’t expect anything but a visual presence, and no word on if any jail guards shall be set free to work the front lines.

3:10 AM post was spot on but that 1,150 number is WAY low. Right now if they mustered up every available body it would be around 6,500. The problem is when you factor in the wave of retirements before the convention, and the SURGERIES planned during the convention for those retiring shortly after, we have no ability to control the city and riots. My old partner who went to one of the suburban departments we are relying on said the PO’S want nothing to do with this. What the Dems aren’t saying out loud but hoping for is the Republican Convention to go off the rails giving Dems an off ramp to cancel Chicago.

I may be wrong, but I assume you're referring to some kind of weighted gloves. This is great advice, if you want to lose your job, get sued, and go to prison. Don't arm yourself with random weapons and use them on people, even if it's just gloves. Hire private security to patrol during the dnc. There are plenty of minority security companies that can supply 1,000’s of security Officers to patrol for a week,24/7 for half the 💰 it will cost to pay 1.5 pay to sworn CPD.
