Don't expect any charges from Crimesha's office though:
- For three critical hours after four students were shot, two fatally,
at Benito Juarez High School, the school principal and some staffers
threw up roadblocks to the police investigation and weeks later had to
be threatened with grand jury subpoenas to spur their cooperation, the
Illinois Answers Project has learned.
Detectives on the scene of the mass shooting that happened just before Christmas 2022 quickly learned the four victims and the suspected shooter were all current or former CPS students and asked to view school surveillance video, to interview a student witness who’d given information to school officials and sought access to other records relating to the students involved.
But at most every turn, according to public documents and police sources, school principal Juan Carlos Ocon and other administrators told detectives that cooperating would violate CPS policy, and they insisted on checking with their legal department.
The delays — which have never been previously reported — cost investigators invaluable time to interview witnesses and gather physical evidence, law enforcement sources said.
There is no legal standing or "checking with their legal department" for evidence of a crime. The statute is pretty clear.
One could be forgiven for asking what the gang affiliation of the principal is.

Why even respond? Let the school janitor get up off his fat, lazy, overpaid ass and clean up the mess and call it good.
As soon as they refuse to provide the evidence of a crime, they should be arrested. Then they can call their legal department. These aren't private home videos. They are surveillance videos from a public school. There is no legal reason to withhold those videos from the police, especially when conducting a murder investigation. The principal is probably the uncle of one of the shooters or something. You don't need a grand jury when public school officials are withholding evidence to hide the identity of murderers. The only possible reason for refusing is to protect the murderers, to help them avoid arrest and prosecution, give them time to disappear, to dispose of weapons, etc. These idiots put everyone in their school, and the general public at risk, just to avoid cooperating with the police, while pretending their legal team would want them to protect the privacy of their murderer students. Any crime that is captured on public surveillance cameras should result in that footage being immediately provided to the police. This seems too obvious, but not in Chicago I guess.

That’s pretty awesome. The ultimate crime is committed at your school and you’re not going to show police video? Um, that sounds to me like an obstructing charge at the least and that asshat principal should have been relieved of his duties, but not here in the People’s Republic of Shitcago. About 10-12 yeara the mentality at CPS changed. They went from hiring former CPD exempts to run Safety and Security to wanting nothing to do with the Police Departament. Most of the Supervisors were retired p,o’s or Supervisors from School Patrol or Detectives. The cooperation between CPD and CPS was a two way street.
There were quarterly if not monthly meetings where information was shared. CPS had a command center where Detectives were able to go on a regular basis to gather information or view camera shots from incidents occurring in or around schools.
What changed? The new Directors’s background is from the corporate world. Montgomery Ward or some other such failed business. CTU’s mantra of “pipeline to prison” became the rallying cry and the future of CPD in schools was doomed. The use of Metal Detectors was also on the way out. Just a side note, when the School Patrol Unit was first formed in the early ‘90s nearly 200 guns were recovered in and around schools. When the Unit was disbanded around 2005 the number less than 15. Are there less guns or are they just finding less?
Now, you see what happened at Juarez. A typical sign of the times. CPS is run by Mayor BJ and the CTU.

In 2024 the proper response is to call the sergeant, who can ring up the chain of command for direction. Write a report and submit for a warrant, which, of course will be a waste of time.
The bottom line is that the investigators keep out of the 💩, and that’s what is what’s important.

For the last 20 years yhe principal has presided over a parade of pedophiles, inept instructors who can barely read as well as thieving personnel. A double murder is par for the course for this guy.
If the police are investigating a crime and you refuse to cooperate by withholding evidence, aren’t you guilty of obstruction of justice? Arrest the school officials and throw their butts in jail while you get a warrant for the evidence.

Once they said that they should have been arrested and charged with "Obstructing an Investigation". Then they could call their legal department.

I remember being stopped on Benito Juarez HS property for a quick break while on duty, a week or so before the shooting, and the security guard for Juarez HS came up to me and asked what I was doing there? the principle wanted to know, I told him I was on a break. I now make sure to not even drive past Juarez HS, reap what you sow!!!!

CPS has always been a pain to deal with as a Detective. They refuse to cooperate. Duck calls. Hide video. Give students the heads up that they are wanted. These principles think they are god and think they can order you around, and complain to supervisors when you tell them they cant. CPS is full of a lot of criminals and I don't mean just the students.
CPS won't even let you look at video when responding to a fistfight.
I believe WGN channel 9 news is doing a story on this tonight at 9.

Bullshit. If you have probable cause, it'll get approved by anyone not related to them. You being afraid to bring them in isn't the same as not getting approval on the arrest report.

If you need to call your sergeant to decide if you have probable cause, you shouldn't be the police, regardless of what happens to the case down the line. The "chain of command" isn't on scene determining if you have probable cause. Let them cut the criminal loose later if they want. There's no excuse for not doing your job, no matter how much you want to pass the buck.
They had the ID of the killer and wouldn’t give it to detectives on scene. 100% accurate. They were protecting the killer.
This was on twitter (X), I made sure reporters from both the Sun times and TRIB got the story. As of this morning neither newspaper ran it.

Just to clear some facts out, both students were shot in front of the principal as he was saying goodbye to his students, they eventually both died in his arms. Besides being a great human being and family man, he has been voted over and over to remain principal because the community loves him and everything he does for that school. There’s a protocol that school officials have to follow when MINORS are involved. Also knowing that he stills has nightmares of that day, I’m pretty sure he wasn’t in full detective mode to start dishing out information to law enforcement, 2 students just got their heads blown up in front of him ok.
As to being a “gang member”, I can assure you he wasn’t. Was always a nerd at school, never had a chance to enjoy his childhood, was always at school, then finished university and raised his family. So all y’all shut the hell up cus you would want this man to be your kids Principal.

Minors don't deserve or need protection when they are seen murdering multiple other minors. They are criminals at that point, and any rational, caring, normal, sensible, competent human being would do everything they could to help the police get custody of the murderers. Your attempt to justify the criminal behavior of this shitty principal does nothing to change the fact that he aided the murderers of his students by refusing to cooperate with the police investigation. He's a piece of shit and a horrible, disgusting human. I'm glad he has nightmares of the horror he allowed to occur at his school, and encouraged through his behavior after the incident. I hope he never has a good night's sleep again. Minors who kill other children have no special protection by CPS protocol. Any attempt to pretend their privacy is more important than the fact that they murdered children and are still on the loose, partly due to the lack of cooperation from CPS staff, is just idiotic and pathetic. Anyone who wants a piece of shit like this to be their child's principal should be forced to turn their children over to DCFS. You tried your best to excuse his stupidity, but you failed miserably. My response to your stupidity may have been a bit long-winded, due to my anger at your complete lack of a functioning brain, so I'll summarize here:
If you're a great principal who does so much for your school, and you watch your students get murdered in front of you, you fucking tell the police who did it, and provide them with whatever evidence you can to help them bring those murderers to justice. Fuck whatever protocol you want to pretend exists. Fuck whatever he does for the community, or how much everyone loves his dumb ass. He dropped the ball and helped murderers. Fuck you again.
